Worst horde system EVER! Awful gameplay experience

if you read my original post you would see i wa s asking for a seperate lobby for players that dont need/want all the toys…then your speedrunners can sentry away till there hearts content…personally would rather use power for fences/decoys n weapon lockers…just a personal preference…we will leave at that as im seeing your trolling coming from a mile away…good luck outgunning the sentries n turrets

Honestly I started out to troll you but honestly quit in my 2nd post.

Yes you can outgun a sentry. I’ve done it and I’m a mediocre player at best.

Yes you can outgun a turret. Especially since they nerfed them so much.

Speedrunners are cool. The object of horde is completion. They have just found a more effective way to do it than the rest of us.

I have zero issues with speedrunners. It’s TC who has that issue. Not me and you shouldn’t either.

Great vid. I watched a good Jim Steling video about microtransactions and specially MS and Gears 5 and how detrimental they are.

Do people really care that much if I am an engineer and I have 10 something sentries and weapon lockers aplenty? I thought the goal was to win the mode not sulk because engineer is getting mvp 8 times out 10.

A good engineer is the difference between getting rolled and making the game easy mode. A good team will make an engineers life easy.

Aaaaannndddd in my experience the highest scorers are the scouts snipers and heavys. The point of base defenses are to defend your team mates and make it easy to get to them if they go down.

Wow, so much complaining. You guys need to find players that work well together and keep them in your Friends List. There are more options to play differently now with the Perk system. I enjoy the variety and don’t feel the need to play the same way every game. Jack + Forge will give more than enough power anyway, if you are worried about that.

Communication is essential. People may need instruction. I see players announcing which Perks they are buying, so the team knows what is going on.

Ammunition scarcity is not much of a problem with lockers/ammo boxes/Pilfer/Jack/restock at the Fabricator! I have a blast switching to weapons dropped on the field often, rather than using 1 gun the whole match. I like to keep some variety on our lockers.

Just a few quick thoughts. Loving Horde at the moment but there’s always room for improvement.

That is poor design if it can’t be fun with randoms. Gears 3 had no problems being fun with randoms because it was fun and simple.

and you also had a fan base that communicated more. only time i find people with a mic, it’s generally kids screaming and the tv coming through it. i enjoy it, so it’s based off opinion but a game mode that requires strategy and teamwork and people are too socially awkward to speak on the mic isnt a flaw with the game necessarily.

Back in Gears 3 you could easily play with randoms without anybody talking because it was less restrictive resulting in like 2 good people carrying the team if nessicary but now unless you’re an engineer you can’t upgrade barriers or make anything at all… I really think this was a dumb decision but that’s just my opinion … you mainly need to talk now just because one guy can only make stuff really silly

Of course theres complaining.
The game mode isn’t unplayable but why did they feel the need to change so much. Change is good of course -but the majority of their changes are detrimental.

Why would you allow players to pay for in game perks with energy that is required to build defenses? … they’re obviously going to focus on their individual prowess vs the team as a whole - why are the perk cards so underwhelming? Why does it take a minute to fully repair a red laser barrier with a fully upgraded ingenuity card?

Why have they removed manned turrets? Why have they made it so the energy price of fortifications rise for engineers over time on top of the mutator that doubles the effect? Why is there no real damage increase for players? Why is the discounted fortification card a purple card and not green?

There is a lot wrong with horde, If I want a challenge in gow 4 I would play on the inconceivable difficulty.

I don’t usually listen to critics but this is the lowest rated gears of war since judgement. All they had to do was improve on 4 and they failed even that - They made terrible decisions and they’re paying for it.

Okay, I’ve played a lot more now.

My main issue is with this Del/Jack/Kait/JD meta, making all difficulties laughable. Clearly there’s a fault when all you see is this team composition for yet another piss-easy match. They need to balance the characters so that we see more variety, not just Kait+JD with their obscene damage output all the time. I feel like winning should require more skill from the player.

This is actually my overall favorite part of Gears 5 horde - the AI is like Skynet. It will not revive you whatsoever if another AI is down near it. It’ll run right past you and sometimes even if you’re the only one down right near it, it KNOWS you’ve been bossing around Alexa today and swearing at Google Home while kicking your Roomba in anger! It will not revive you for treating other robots like that! It’s almost hilarious how bad Gears 5 horde is. I can just imagine the meetings, “What if we make these idiots fight over 80 ammo in a box?!” “Eh, amateur hour man. We can do that too, fine, but let’s make sure drop shots and boom shots are like 5 shots each.” “No no, 5 is too many, let’s do 3 or 4.” “Hahaha no way the players will rebel.” Enter a big man in a suit. “This is all amateur hour compared to what I’m suggesting. We introduce Terminator characters and maybe Halo or random other marketing things into the mode.” hushed whispers “Did this guy short Microsoft or something?! Is he trying to ruin their marquee franchise?!” Finally a more important older man enters the room. “Ladies, ladies. This bickering is pointless. We can incorporate ALL of these terrible ideas into the game! There’s no need to choose!”

I find it funny that he is still upset about Speed Runners lmao

They could change it so all players are awarded a Perk point for every 5 waves completed. Do away with the whole Perks for Power thing. Double the Perk percentages maybe to make them more significant. Engineers could have the 4 Perks: Max Health, Repair Efficiency, Fortification Strength, Fortification Discount to further enhance there abilities.

Regarding character balance:
–Reduce Kait/JD effectiveness. How about making robotics immune to Bleed? Nerf raw damage.
–Make the Overkill a less effective sniper weapon, haha.
–Buff inherent weapon damage for specific characters, e.g. precision weapons for Fahz, heavies for Sarah etc.

How about instead of nerfs on playable characters where they are not needed we buff the less viable ones?
