Pretty sure this is sarcasm, but…

Octus said this was apparently a comparatively low-effort thing to “fix”(toggling a ribbon off server-side), to code work.

Regardless, they just fix this cause you can’t have players getting around a ridiculous grind designed to sell Boost that is still ridiculous even when you have Boost, can you?

And they have not even given any mentions to whether they heard the complaints about 82 freaking million XP for Reup 0-50 level 100, besides an apparent mention of it by @N0DEZER0 on, you guessed it, Twitter. Can we like, get some mentions on whether you actually have any plans to not make the grind inaccessible to all but the grinders, in here, on these forums? @TC_Octus

Really shows where some of those priorities lie. I don’t buy the excuse of “It let players gain XP faster than regularly in PvE modes.”… but isn’t that like, the entire point of a grinding method? It didn’t even affect anyone ffs.

But hey, I guess there is at least some enjoyment to be found in the comments of those who somehow think those who used this method should have their reups reverted because they are “cheaters”. Pure comedy gold, that.

And no, I’m not really mad they removed this. I’m more annoyed that they just trot along with their stupid excessive grind that caused people to do this in the first place, “fixing” what doesn’t actually need fixing instead of attacking the problem at its root. Which is, well, the reups in their current form.

Yea it was sarcasm. I agree with your surmise. I did try the method several times the other day. Wasn’t particularly enjoyable or anything that I could do for hours. I want you to ponder on why they jumped on this now. They could obviously have the data at anytime. They knew this was happening for a while. They thought they would look heroic by eliminating it today once it started to gain widespread attention. This is why I fight so hard when I see a couple threads like JD is OP in horde or the Clock is too easy in Escape. TC will never fix the root of the issue. Proper balance as you would say. They take the lazy route.

I do agree it was quite boring. Honestly, I would often just set barriers up and do something else while I waited for the kill count to reach 30. Beyond that and the lobby restarts, it wouldn’t take much to do but still more than AFKing in a match somewhere to gain free XP/skills. If they planned on it catching a lot of attention… well, doesn’t seem to have worked. There hasn’t been much about it. I’ve seen more comments on the What’s Up announcement(most of those will probably be about the Operation 3 delay, haven’t read any yet). I guess we’ll see where this goes tomorrow… but I was kinda hoping for more backlash to give TC some more second thoughts on whether their reup system is as great as they think it is or actually a horrible mess. People claiming it was cheating was/is just so nonsensical though.

And I did try to point people complaining about this exploit in the direction of its actual source… but it seems to have had only limited effect, unfortunately. Guess I’ll go back to going through these reups at a snail’s pace then. Not that I have much of a reason to care for their lackluster rewards at this moment anyway.

Also, re the JD thing, it does actually seem like TC plans to buff the other characters(also read something about boss health, not sure where they’ll go with that - keeping an eye on it cause they should be, well, you know, a boss and not something squishy and easy to kill). Rather than just nerfing whatever is powerful right now. Of course, none of that has circulated in here. Only seen it on Twitter.:roll_eyes:

Horde news is nonexistent here. I think the jist was buffing some characters to make them “pop”, but it had a conditional on it like “mostly”.

Never personally cared for maximizing xp on a game. I was wings 3 or something in Gears 4, wings 2 on an alternate account. That was only a result from trying to acquire packs. Now, I have no desire to increase that number (except make sure mines higher than a friend’s :shushing_face:).

I personally only care about the reups if they had decent rewards. They currently don’t, but they might in the future. Currently stuck on Reup 19 Level 78. Not really got much of an intention to go for them at all. Too much of a grind for a little reward. I went for Wings 5 in Gears 4. Got there shortly before 5 released. Just for the sense of achievement. Definitely wasn’t bothered to repeat the same for this game. Rather play to have fun… but I still like seeing progression on a tangible level. Reups 16-20 really start failing to do that… on any level.

I imagine TC are frantically scrambling to get more RUs loaded.

Unless the extra supply drop / scrap is enough of an incentive for RU50 folk to keep spending on the Gears 5 subscription service.

Only if your big. I see tons of twitch streamers that have maybe 2 viewers on a good day. Everyone wants to make money playing video games but a lot of people don’t draw a crowd. I’m sure the ratio is even worse than the NFL, NBA ect. Athletes that play sports in high school think they can go pro then they don’t make the cut.
