Will Operation 6 be the LAST *real* Operation for G5? (speculation)

Excellent, I wanted to know what it was you wanted and you have loosely provided that, thanks. Makes much more sense than " I wan’t an innovating game" which tells them nothing. TBH you still haven’t really provided how you expect the pvp to play other than not Gears 2 tuning. Would you actually be happy if they had the exact same Gears 4 tuning they ended with?

I agree with all your comments outside of pvp. Nice to see some feedback they can actual listen to rather than ‘everything’s crap revert’ .

Who doesn’t drip feed content? If they dumped everything on OP1 for example you would just have lot’s of people complaining about skins and maps and being abandoned.

Totally agree on emotes and bloodsprays, they are not for me, but I appreciate people buy them and fund the game for me and the future of the game. I would just like the option to turn them off, like I have gore and executions.

Anyway, thanks for a more detailed reply.

I expect Gears 6 will be out during September 2023. Not sure why people think it will be out earlier.

gears 5 had a 3 year dev cycle so we’re basing it off that

and that didn’t turn out too well, I hope they won’t be making the mistake of rushing it again.

Look if they actually are gonna go through with a new gears. Delay it, delay the ■■■■ out of it please. I will wait 20 years if I have to.

I don’t think that’s because “3 years isn’t enough”. I think it’s because TC didn’t manage time properly and leave enough time for content & polish - they spent too much time working on “features”.

With gears 5 and operations, TC tried Agile approach. At launch in Sep 2019, they had campaign ready and had MVP(minimum viable product) of PvP and PVE. Then based on feedback, they tried to update game every operation.

I think enough time has passed since Microsoft started its shopping spree for more developers that we might start seeing the fruits within the next few years. If so, that could take the pressure off of Gears and the next one might extend beyond the 3 year development cycle.

Agreed.

Takes time to create a masterpiece, this gears was most certainly released too early. Campaign was pretty polished but various other areas were far from ready.

I’ve said before I’ll happily play this gears for a few more years (as long as we still get some sort of content) whilst we get a proper old school, gritty, scary gears of war game made.

Uhh…did you play CoOp? Or how about 3-player CoOp with everyone on Insane?

I haven’t had a single CoOp session where the game hasn’t crashed on at least 1 of the people playing (if not multiple).

I haven’t sorry no. Always enjoyed campaigns lights off, earphones in solo.

I enjoyed it when I played that way. But Gears is a CoOp game, and the TRUE experience for Gears (IMO) is playing CoOp.
…and sadly, Gears 5 fell short (significantly) in that sense.

some features maybe but look at how much time was wasted on overhauls.

  • Ranked was overhauled, it didn’t need to be

  • Hero system was overhauled, it didn’t need to be

  • Tuning was overhauled, it didn’t need to be.

all those things buried this game before it even had a chance to be what the developer set out to do with it.

Get the heck out of here with this nonsense, 5 never should have launched with class roles locked to specific characters.

I didn’t care, TC tried something new and this community’s obsession with playing as a specific skin cost us a large amount of planned content.

Quit being so selfish and try to see things from others’ perspectives.

I did, and so did TC. those people got their way

Coming on the forums to complain that the class system overhaul was a waste of time because you, personally, didn’t care about it counts as being less selfish for you?

I was willing to let TC design the game they wanted to make. that’s it

This is the most stupid opinion I keep hearing from long time “fans”, have you ever actually played a horror game? Dead Space, Resident Evil, etc. Gears of War is more of a Sci-fi shooter than it ever was a horror game. Monsters don’t equal horror,

For Gears of War to be considered a proper horror game it would need to take some bold (and highly unpopular) steps.

  1. no Multiplayer (ruins the immersion/atmosphere)
  2. Much harsher Single-player (less ammo, survival mechanics, that sort of thing)
  3. more psychological terror (hallucinations, fear, etc.)

I’m not saying that a horror Gears game wouldn’t/couldn’t be fun or thrilling, but it would be a spinoff of the main series.

Edit: Courage the Cowardly Dog is more of a horror than Gears is lol, to put things into perspective.
