Personally I’d say Jin comes off as a bit of a tactician, and maybe a killer also. But are you seriously trying to claim that Hoffman is a tactician, politically? Then you haven’t paid attention at all to the lore and story.
Jinn is a political snake. I have a sneaking suspicion she ‘disposed’ of Anya with a convenient ‘accident’ in the fertility program which, let’s not forget, is also run by Jinn. The claims about caring for her? I doubt they’re completely true, certainly not enough to not remove Anya to get the position of First Minister. Call it a hunch but I would think this is behind the way Marcus acts towards Jinn when it comes to Anya, a subject/confrontation clearly cut short by the little excursion we had to Azura that was another elephant in the room.
I would not trust Jinn with leading combat operations though. Doesn’t seem like her field of expertise, so to speak.

No, I agree about this. I was specifically speaking of leadership of COG. I thought the way Marcus acted towards Jinn was only anger over Anya’s death, but you bring up an interesting theory.
You are free to believe that Jinn being a woman was shoehorned in, I don’t necessarily agree. Where you are completely wrong however is in thinking Hoffman could be an alternative as a COG leader. It’s well established that Hoffman does not want that position, and really would not be capable of securing it.
Remember also that the COG didn’t have a “battle tested veteran” for leader for the entirety of the locust war. The question is not whether Jinn could be a better political tactician than Hoffman, because your average household dog would be a better political tactician than Hoffman, it’s whether Jinn could match up to Prescott for example. We don’t know too much about Jinn (disclaimer: I have not read the two latest books yet, maybe there’s more there?) but in the games she, at least to me, comes off as being a leader with ruthless tendencies, maybe even more so than Prescott.

Or maybe I prefer the crashes between quick play matches, or maybe the UI issues (or just the terrible UI design). It really is hard to choose.

Me and my gf happened to discuss this, and she brought up a viable point: is Marcus really jd’s father? Who knows what goes on in those facilities, and if he’s not, that might explain the animosity between jd and marcus, and the anger towards jinn.
There was wars before E day.
Hoffman is definitely battle tested.
Just respect Hoff more. He wasn’t perfect but he was a good figure.
I don’t know about Jin. She’s lame to me. Wish someone would chainsaw her.

You are missing the point big time.
You were questioning why Hoffman wasn’t first minister instead of Jinn, citing some imagined shoehorning as a reason.
While Hoffman is a battle veteran and Jinn isn’t, it has been shown that this isn’t a prerequisite to be first minister. As evidenced by Prescott who lead the COG during the locust war, and while having served in the COG army had no battle experience at all.
What has been firmly established however is that Hoffman has no aspirations at all to be first minister, and that a sly political tactician such as Prescott, or indeed Jinn from all we know of her, would eat Hoffman alive in those circumstances.

Lol Marcus is 1000% JDs father. Not only does JD look like him but Anya wouldn’t sleep with someone else as proven in the books.

We don’t know the details of how jd was conceived afaik, other than Anya was infertile but had jd with the aid of some fertility facility. I don’t remember us getting the details if jd was conceived the traditional way or insemination.
Or JD is the son of Marcus and… Jinn!
