I’m guessing it’s a popularity thing for why TDM is in ranked over a more competitive game mode like execution or even guardian? It doesn’t play very well competitively feels like a mode that should be quick play only.

Yeah I figured popularity would have to be the reason. I’ve been trying to play it to get the 25 wins for the medal. It’s just everyone camping minus one bad player that runs in and feeds kills until the match ends every game lol. I’m pretty bored haha

You get team wiped during the initial, other team gets both power weapons, camp just close enough to your spawn to spawn trap you, before you realize it the score is (4) - (13)
Last man standing gets gunned down and stomach kick execution’d

I’ve played TDM half a dozen times at most on Gears 5, and that’s only because friends made me.
I hate it with a passion.

Dunno why TDM is remotely popular to be honest.
Boring as hell, only gets interesting when you’ve all got one life left and even then it’s often a major camp fest to see who breaks and pushes first

TDM love comes from Gears 3 for sure. The most iconic gears imo because it was before the series went downhill.

Yeah it’s still good on gears 3 now when I hop on to be fair. Just plays so much better, mainly due to the people on it aren’t little boys hiding away

TDM is extremely boring. Like someone said team gets power weapon then pushes up to spawn to trap you. Even when this doesn’t happen you’ll get teammates that are just petrified to make anything happen so they’re very willing to just lay back and let time run out while the enemy team has life lead. Everyone plays so scary.
It’s a ranked mode cause it’s straightforward and to the point objective wise. It’s also one of the more popular modes. Even if the underlying meta is trash it’s the mode you can go into with one objective. Kill. KOTH has rotations and other things and FFA is a little more chaotic. 2v2 is Up A central with condensed maps so yeah

Most popular mode needs a proper rules of matchmaking: full squads at start, no bot filling, penalties for leaving, balanced matches and so on. Ez.
I’m not sure why it gets the hate it does, but personally it’s my favourite mode (although not with stacks limited to 2). At a high level it’s a very competitive mode which is all about teamwork, crossing, flanking, supporting at power weapons, knowing when to push etc. When you have two full teams playing perfectly in sync it’s a great competitive mode. The limiting teams to 2 has absolutely killed it, you lose the ability to function as a team, it’s much harder to coordinate effort. If there’s one mode you shouldn’t limit stacks it’s team deathmatch.

My most epic game of TDM came on 4 when I damn near pulled off my best clutch ever, I was last man out when they still had 9 spawns left, squaded with 2 of my buddies who rarely play anymore (like very rarely lol) so I got peeps to collab story if needed haha, regardless they watched me go to work, got it all the way down to a 1v1… I got him weak my unfortunately my Boltok was out of ammo (told yall I was a beast with that on 4) but I’m not about that stalemate life, I ONLY get them when I can’t find them, or they run away from me. I’m not the one that be hiding lol. Regardless I pushed but made the wrong move which I knew I screwed up, should have slid to the wall but didn’t and got downed at that moment… RIP… it was ok though, me running that train like that, my buddy was right when he said “it’s ok man, we’ll get them now, you killed their spirits that you even got that close” and that was exactly right, we crushed them the next 2 rounds.
Pointless to bring that up lmao, I’m usually meh about it, just agreeing it is fun when you have moments like that, but usually you just don’t.
The only thing left worth ending this with, the mode that SHOULD be in Ranked… in the words of @RedHulk1973

I think you forgot to add the entire enemy team is either CS Baird or CS Myrrah and spams laugh emote.
Tdm is the best imo.
