Why Are There So Many Bad Players In Horde?

You should play Master and Inconceivable Horde with the health modifier on. It makes the Escape enemies seem much more reasonable(to me, they certainly are - most weapons do not require a damage boost to be effective).

Regarding the post about the venom… there is literally skills to use in it, but they don’t make you invulnerable. You’re still going to want to be well ahead of the lethal stuff cause it causes all kinds of problems. Saying Master is just standing in there isn’t true… but I can’t force someone to try it. Still, it’s not just “stand in the venom ash and you win”. There is a few more nuances to it than that.

Yes I over simplified the venom cards, same could be said for the Keegan frag cards to win (no idea if the duplicate glitch has been fixed?).

You’re right it is more nuanced than that. Personally I don’t find it entertaining gameplay or fun but of course that’s just my opinion.

The infinite frags duplication isn’t fixed yet, but I rarely resort to it unless I absolutely don’t see any other way of beating a hive on Master(currently, only The Line and The Blight hold this “right”), which to me is more an indication there is some inherent design flaw with the hive than anything else. At least for Blight I’m certain about it due to the absolutely ridiculous number of Drones present in it, not so sure on The Line as there might be something I’m missing on how to kill the Scions adequately when the Faster Scions modifier is enabled on Master.

I can jump in with you on my lahni and we can do both!

I did the line with lahni-liz-emile. We used flashes, and embar active reloads to interupt the scions, and obviously liz did her part. (Her aggro at full health is invaluable in the first area, really speeds up the kills)

Took a bunch of tries, maybe 2 hours, but we did it!

In my humble opinion same thing happened with " Ori and the Blind Forest " lots of people thought it was just " another plaformer" " a super mario bros like game " , however once they encountered it was a complex, deep thinking game they just dismissed like a bad flu.

Some games require intellectual abilities Ori and Gears of War, are in that spectrum, that why the casual players instead end up playing Viva Piñata or Super Mario Maker.

Ehh… I currently have no plans to rerun them. May consider it later, but uncertain on that. Mostly just waiting for Horde Frenzy and their Operation 3 updates to see what those are all about.

I did Lahni with Flashbangs when me and him beat it together. Most Keegans I come across in random Master lobbies want the Explosive Ammo Box with T Bow or Frags.

Yeah I found frags not as easy as flashes with a keegan, but surprisingly lizzies aggro is enough with lahni and emile in the venom + embar active reloads can stun them

And of course the silverback is op in it’s own right

Gears 5 Horde is not Street Fight, you even mention in the exact same post that Horde is Extremely detailed, the layers of gameplay and…
Yes, communication is a good factor in games like this, and people do forget it is a Team based game, it is why i keep mentioning that each and every character should be Unique, such as the Engineer is the only one that can build, repair and move/use the Fabricator, all the other characters need to be Unique is their own way too.
How did pandering to PvP players effect Horde, PvP and Horde are separate modes. I love Horde, i hate PvP, i only play PvP when i have to, but i do not complain at the state of PvP because it is not my mode, i do complain i have to play PvP for certain things.
And Masters will not make a player Pro, because it is a Team based game, you can have one character hide ina corner somewhere, many a time i have seen players on the Forums offer to carry other players.
There are bad players out there, there are ignorant players out there too, i often offer advice, and end up with abuse afterwards, “it is my game, i will play it how i want, F.O.”, yes, you do get them.
Yes, Horde can get boring if you are playing a character you do not want to, such as the Achievement for level 15 characters, i hate Jack, i find him boring.
Finally, losers moan, but Gears 5 Horde is not the best Horde.

Having to “unlock” difficulty levels in Horde is something that’s been sorely needed for a long time and it’s pretty baffling that it’s not been implemented.
The only time I think it should be skirted is if someone is in party with a player who has unlocked that level of difficulty.

My guess at why players suck is either that they underestimate the difficulty level or overestimate their own skills, or that they are looking for “easy” ways to unlock mutators.

they are not bad players… they are casual…

You’re overestimating the amount of effort people put into games. The population of players who have done a deep dive into Gears 5 horde mechanics is tiny. The “bad players” referred to in the thread title are just turning on the console and messing around for a bit.

This is why Microsoft needs to fund the development of a really robust social play feature that TC can create to help “good players” play together and earn greater rewards for doing so.

Like a “ranked playlist” for Horde.

Whats bad about it then is that those players, just casually putting on their console to have a chill moment, is needed to even get a full team these days.

Ehh it’s been that way for me since 2006. Never found a group, and people never send game invites. I just accepted it and adapted to become a solo player.

I understand your point. That’s fine.

The problem that others and myself have is when new players with no care about the match join high level games like insane + higher to Masters and ruin it. Casual + new players should either make their own game and run their rules or play on lower/easier matches. Casual players with low level characters like level 4 should not be joining insane, inconceivable or masters.

People don’t have an issue with new players wanting to learn + make the match work by talking or typing. People don’t like it when people join and pick random / duplicate characters and do what they feel like and ignore what the team says.

We did an inconceivable game 2 days ago and it was with a new Jack. The player communicated and wanted to learn how to play Jack properly with the team. It was great and a joy and in turn, the player knew how to do Jack better.

I suspect Horde Frenzy will weed out certain players and allow them to do Horde casually without annoying committed player.

We found (people playing higher + masters) that many come from PVP TDM. They run in wall bouncing using gnasher and die instantly. The team just doesn’t revive them cause they cost the team the match.

Yeah, I totally get where you’re coming from. I am also solo since day 1. Sure I’ve been added and I’ve added others but I’ve never had a crew of players and the players I’ve played with has more or less changed from every Gears game.

What I mainly was referring to was the current player base that seem to consist of primarely casual players that joins for a couple of waves.

It’s worth stressing how bad these players are + how arrogant they are when you call them out for not playing properly / as a team / not learning. This is why many get kicked.

Horde players don’t care if you’re noob. It’s your communication + attitude to play in their high level games.

TC should really just put a level cap on difficulties, must be 15+ for inconceivable, 17+ for Master or something, because yeah it’s getting ridiculous. I waste so much time chilling in a horde lobby watching level 1-7’s just joining master lobbies and i just leave ( because they wont’) and I keep looking for a game. Really kills morale when I just want to jump into a game and go
