What's Up Gears - Operation 5: Hollow Storm - PvE Overview

Well, if you’re not in a rush, then don’t buy the boost.

For folks like me, @AmicableWall421, @dannyjo22, and a boatload of other people that I know would love this, we’ll rush our happy little ■■■■■ off with our active boost

All rhetorical at this point anyway, considering it is just a wishlist item.

There is no rush but do you want to be grinding months to have your class perform well enough for high difficulty runs(some of them do need skills at level 5 or higher to be better than barely adequate)?

I know I don’t, even if I would normally prefer to be playing normally over grinding my backside off. Particularly since studies won’t always leave me with tons of free time to play. So I could play the Nomad class without at least certain skills like Execution Shield maxed(and let’s face it, that is one of if not the most vital skill for the execution build of the class to work) for quite a while because not only is the RNG terrible and often very generous with the stupid epic score boost, the class also has like 7 of them to make matters even worse.

But at this point I’ll probably be throwing coins at some of those skills anyway, seeing as this wouldn’t happen anytime soon if it did at all.

I suppose the coins are the other way have brought in to upgrade skill cards, is that not enough to upgrade skill cards with coins and the challenges they have added as well to get more cards?

I think its okay. Yes more cards is always good but i don’t think they would include it with boost. If they were to do it if would likely be something different specific to getting the double cards in pve.

I have a spreadsheet I use to keep up with some card stats, including the number of Gears Coins needed to reach max level for all cards. Above is a screenshot of where I am currently, but I also have Total columns.

As you can see, with all of the cards currently in the game, if you were to ONLY purchase cards with Gears Coins, which I get isn’t a thing… but just go with it for a second, you would need 8.9 MILLION Gears Coins.

Last Operation, I hit Legend 666, which sounds crazy high, right? 666 * 750 = 499,550, or only 5% of the total needed.

So I would say that’s a hard “no” on Gears Coins being enough of a compromise to not justify double cards.

From this update im not wasting any coins or anything on any classes. I’m just going to leave it as whatever i get i get and ill deal it. I’m not bothered about the amount of cards i get, its not worth it when they get nerfed. Whats the point of getting 2 razor hail skill card in a match and finally its maxed to get it nerfed big time in op4 or using coins to upgrade claytons mulcher card to max to then get nerfed. I used a few in fahz ambush and it went down like 4 levels. If i just left it at level 2 and didnt upgrade it it would be exactly the same as what it is after op5.

For me its just enough i just enjoy playing the game, if more skill cards were an option i would not be using my earned real money to get more. What the game gives me is just plenty.

What it sounds like to me is its more of the rarity cards people are saying they don’t get enough of. Well its rare + you only have a chance of getting higher rarity cards on higher difficulties so you could get double skill cards but that don’t mean the rarity will change you could end up with all greens. I have had it happen on master before.

I believe the whole idea of the rarity cards is that it is really rare you will get a legendary/yellow skill card and purple card so if you do get one your pretty lucky.

I agree some classes have loads and its impossible
to upgrade them without playing all the time but maybe they should increase the rarity on higher difficulties.

If you complete the horde lets say on master you should have more chance of getting a legendary card and purple because you completed it on the highest one and much lower chance of getting the others at the moment i think its 50/50 barely that im not sure but maybe thats would be a good option atleast then you know you have more chance of getting better cards it might not help the amount but atleast you may actually get some and possibly more than just one.

I thought people were saying that Ironman for escape was going to be changed or removed or something? Seems exactly the same to me.
Edit: forgot it was for the next TU

Ive done this anyway. What was it like before? I have noticed that my Cole doesnt do the running vault over walls. Instead tackling at them… I suppose its to stop the problem of missing tickles close to walls which is something i did before. Different timing to get used to for going for the assasination over walls now. I went down a few times in ice Queen because of this.

I would run at enemies with the run button (A) depressed then release it right before the enemy and press melee/tackle button (B) and it would initiate the tackle. It was possible to avoid inadvertently vaulting cover by not touching the movement stick (Left Stick) while going for tackles.

I had a discussion months ago with @BleedingPepper which first made me aware of the other/current way of tackling. Before that I thought the way I was doing it was the only way it worked.

Needless to say, I’ve been doing it my way for nearly 8 months now never thinking that something like this would be changed.

Just TC doin’ TC things

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but the formerly promotional character/classes need some attention. I don’t play as nor pay much attention to them, BUT:

These classes are no longer locked to other franchise characters and are available to all players. Their skill selection is limited to the point of little to no choice. Enough skill cards exist now in the game to add several to each class. Kat could get a couple Del cards and Baird cards, etc to keep with the flavor of the class.

No requirement for new skills, graphics, descriptions, etc and little to no need for balance testing as they’d be close to identical to other classes anyway.

I feel like JD should be reverted slightly with the grenades taken away and explosives capacity back.

Make a grenadier class

Give clayton more mulcher damage

Take scorcher away from cole and make a fire class separate.
There’s so many ideas that could definite and sperate classes further to make then unique

Disappointed Gabe didn’t get a medic class

This system absolutely sucks for anyone who doesn’t play a TON of games… I have friends like that - they play a couple of hours per week… after a year they have 1 character advanced well enough to play on master… that’s it… If thye want to try different characters, forget it…

even GCs don’t work… Greens and Blues - sure… nothing higher than that…

Imagine a new player just trying to get into Horde NOW… lol…

And I still don’t get the POINT of the grind??

I mean, imagine if the cards you got from class progression already came maxed… WHat exactly would TC miss out on??

What is the point of this insanely stupid grind??

I tried the new Clayton with the mulcher, a very noticeable drop in mulcher power… Hardly worth it on master anymore… take too long to drop/kill enemies, it’s not possible to spend the whole game running his ultimate, you get dropped too easily trying to keep shooting the mulcher… And trishot is stupidly nerfed, overheats so quickly, it’s almost useless for anything other than little drones…

Yeah that 40% decrease is alot considering the mulcher is weak to begin with

Jesus a whole spread sheet for that

Honestly this is the worst update I’ve seen so many unnecessary changes see ya when gears 6 is out hopefully developed not by tc

Could be worse. Being an infiltrator is just awful.
5m just isn’t enough, especially with no damage reduction. An enemy sneezes near you and you’re down.

So i tryed to play cool and not act like a “know it all” but you all you guys who keep sayin this execution-rules stuff handicaps Clayton/Gunner just start to annoy me,
Clayton has no problems what soever with execution Rules with the Mulcher IF you play him right.

Bro try out Kait with the stim cards, laceration and Bloodresonace it’s fun as f***

Laceration/Bloodresonace/Reaper/Enhancedstim/Stim-capacity you can pretty much run around the Map Shotgun killing everything without dyin’ on MASTER :+1: :grinning:

EDIT: that Kait “nerf” was the best Buff in the whole Game yet, just try it out and see for yourself - you’ll love it.
