What was the purpose of the "Big Tuning Thread?"

whoever is against/towards something clings to arbitrary numbers
we - don’t - have - a - single - clue - of - what - the - actual - gears5 - population - really - is

steamcharts is nothing compared to xbl
and dana ‘officially’ said the population didn’t change much after the new tuning
so whoever cried uninstall and farewell either got replaced or was lying

do a random check on those 231 or just click on most active there
the opinion are mixed so whoever is against/pro the new tuning is another minority in that sample

The beta thread had only 65 users giving feedback, it says a lot that “The Big Tuning Thread” had much more complaints after it was implemented.

You say that 231 users isn’t that much and yet you are also saying that we don’t have any idea of the population numbers, so what’s the point on mentioning that number?

hence my statement about these praised numbers being unreliable

TC already decided what the tuning should’ve been
the dev playlist is for everyone to check stuff and report major issues

I don’t think it was up for debate at any point nor given to a few selected opinion
this might be the point most are missing

it was mentioned that the thread was very active, being one of the most viewed and replied ever.
someone else said it was just a bunch of people posting and I provided ‘evidence’ to support the statement I thought was the most correct

Agree with this, but they should also have had to consider who had to say that the tuning sucked ( that is not me saying this, facts saying this) and not only listening to the little voices that they wanted to hear.

LuL this is an awful approach to community engagement. There were various threads during the beta phase providing feedback against the new tuning (e.g., Don't add beta tunning), so the “you should have provided your feedback earlier” argument is just bizarre and tone-deaf. If the tuning is permanent, that’s TC’s prerogative as the developer, but they look ridiculous now pretending there was never negative feedback prior to launching the tuning and now inexplicably halting discussion for no justifiable reason. People will respond better to transparency on TC’s part as to why they chose not to follow the “portion of the community” that doesn’t like the tuning rather than presenting a nonsensical fait accompli.

I wholeheartedly agree that the feedback process needs to be improved, but I’m not sure the whole issue is with the feedback process. It seems like whatever TC throws into the beta playlist, eventually makes its way into ranked. I can’t think of one instance where something in the beta playlist was thrown out, and not implemented.

If I was an outsider looking in on this situation, I would think to myself “there’s no way, everything they’ve tried was successful enough to implement into ranked”

Maybe this is solely due to the lack of a reliable feedback system, but my gut is telling me that TC really isn’t interested in hearing the feedback. My gut tells me the beta playlist is really just an early access playlist to let us practice for when the tunings are in ranked.

I could be wrong about this, but this is just what it looks like.

I just want to know how they got this feedback first off and I would also like to see it. Like how did you guage “positive feeback” (Dana’s words) Did you do a number count half way through the beta to see how many players played? or how many returned? I only ask cause I seen a few threads arguing against the beta and while thats only a small portion of the player base it does rase the question of how many others were against? If you got your feedback from content creators and or pros then TC you done messed up big time. No pro or content creator speaks for me or the rest of the player base.

I really only ask because where I work upper management implements certain policy changes based on positive feedback yet when I talk to those the feedback came from its a completely different story lol. It honestly drives me insane when claims are made but there is lack of evidence to support said claim.

My position on the tuning remains the same. I can play it but I certainly do not enjoy it. Its feels incredibly unresponsive and seems like the game is on constant lag lol.

"We understand there is a portion of the community that is continuing to give feedback on the live tuning changes. However, the tuning changes were in beta for 2 months prior to them going live. We asked for feedback during those 2 months, reached out to various players who were playing them regularly and whom they affected. The time for ‘we want it changed’ feedback was during those 2 months, as these tuning changes will be the last major tuning changes to PVP.

At this time, we are also going to be closing the Tuning Thread. The discussion has run its course and is currently circling around the same points that we have now addressed above.

Take care, kill grubs, and be kind to each other."

the whole thing is just utterly infuriating, more so than the tuning itself.

Like what does some of this even mean? Sucks that players who put so much into the game get silenced by those who never did.

spot on. it’s all smoke.

preview playlist, not beta playlist

That “do” lie. Not well done.

@VisioN_Shura30 that thread was composed of like 45+ topics from different users & if you click on each topic that fused the thread you’ll see a lot of different people liking every single topic bashing the tuning.

All you’re showing is the frequent posters. Trying to water it down as the same few.

Not only is it fused by 45+ people you get the occasional player who hasn’t posted in a while or never posted.

Should say something.

I assure you the beta testing pool was so small & those who did play it went backed to ranked.

For every 1 forum member is like 10-20 players that think the same.

I had 90 gears 5 friends & watched that number slowly dwindle maybe to like 15 players.

They should just make 2 tunings.

Give us 2 modes with fast tuning. Why act like you can’t when it’s easy to do.

Why does PvE still have the fast tuning? That’s how I know they’re jerking us

Lol. Nah brody I think if coalition continues to be allowed to make gears they should just do a story line game with no multiplayer they have no business developing multiplayer. They had beta they had gears 4 and 2 years to develop a good multiplayer gaming experience and still managed to fail.

In her post announcing the closing of the tuning thread, @TC_Sera mentions that:

At this time, we are also going to be closing the Tuning Thread. The discussion has run its course and is currently circling around the same points that we have now addressed above.

However, I just scrolled through the entire thread and didn’t see any posts from TC developers or community managers other than Sera’s initial post opening the thread and then her eventual post announcing its closure. What is meant by the statement “the same points that we have now addressed above”? Am I missing something? Who is “we”?

@VisioN_Shura30

See another player who hasn’t posted in 5 months coming to this thread…

That should say something

The grave is getting deeper TC, you’re almost to six feet now.

They even admitted to this in stream, they use tools from in game days to see how many people are playing it and such, ive been saying too it’s so skewed because of this and the fact they reached out to certain players, plus the pros were practicing on it since it came out, even Avexys said in a video was expected to come out anyways.

I said it on that thread.it wasn’t about feedback.

Same thing happened to TDM & they brushed us under the rug & continued life at TC.

While destroying a whole culture of Gears PvP for absolutely no reason.

Had a ton of support on there as well & nothing.

It’s not Sera’s fault. It’s been like that before her.

Yeah I played a lot of op1 to get my team rocks and other campaign skins for multiplayer. I had fun part of the time and part of the time was a slog doing the grind.

I dipped my toes in later ops, but hardly played gears 5 until op4. The game seemed more solid and I was having more fun with multplayer, but it wasn’t until op5 (pre-beta implementation) I was having a blast and playing much more regularly.

Idk about you, but I saw several threads addressing the beta tuning before it went live.

However, no one started consolidating all the threads into big one until right after the tuning went live. That’s why there were loads of locked threads after beta tuning went live. They were merging those small threads into one big one. And when I say they, I’m referring to TC and not just the mods.
