I felt like the old gears 1 and 2 leaderboard Style actually made you want to play because you can grind out to get top-level. But now there’s no guarantee you are ever going to go up to the top of the leaderboards with this tier system… why was the change needed?
Basing a leaderboard that uses a points value that isn’t in anyway determined by how well you play is against the idea of a skill based leaderboard. The worst player imaginable could be on top of one of the best, had that worst player spent years of their life grinding points. It’s also easily susceptible to boosting.
Encourages lots of cheating and boosting. The new system is much better and rewarding but it definitely should be reworked to be more simple.
