Is there any word on fixing the auto camera focus with single stick movement enabled? If you’re not aiming, your camera auto focuses which disrupts your ability to aim accurately. Please advise.
So, the new Gnasher is a great improvement ! in my personal opinion (granted I’ve only played 3 games. but so far it is fantastic.) Movement still needs ALOT of tweaking (literally getting stuck on every wall still) other than getting stuck it is way to damn slow. BUT ALL in all, I hope we are on the right track…Gnasher atleast works, thats something that never happened before. Great Job from my TC keep it up please.
Some really good changes in there although some I’m not too sure about.
- Camera shake on all weapons but not the Gnasher? Seems odd and out of place. If someone shoots you with a Gnasher first then they deserve the advantage. Just reduce the camera shake across the board but dont take it out for specific weapons.
- TDM 4 v 4 instead of 5 v 5? Hmm. I mean I’ve heard some of the reasons why but I can’t say they’re strong enough reasons.
- TDM solo and duo queues only? Once again I understand the reasons, but yeah a lot of ppl aren’t gonna like this. A lot of squads specifically play TDM. Now you can only bring one friend.
- 8 player FFA? Why not 10? The maps can clearly support it. 14 to 8 is a pretty big drop. It should be 10 minimum IMO. If the spawns are the issue then work on better spawns. This seems like a shortcut around a problem.
Always feels like with every great update, there’s a caveat that comes along with it. I know TC is trying hard, but they need to do better IMO.

On District for example, the spawns will likely be: Markza/Boltok, Buzzkill/Frags, Both initial spawns, and Talon.
those matches are the norm
as I’ve said, caps and breaks are tie breakers, elim cap is still easy to achieve because 40 isn’t much
they’re going to change that so you need 80 elims to max them then the entry fee becomes the issue
people insisting on cap/breaks value are there because there’s slayers landing hundreds of kills.
landed a 120 elim game today, the map was clear for my team to cap/break but I still was worth less than anyone who literally had to stay still waiting for me to do all the work
the system is BAD, doesn’t take into account a lot of things one were rewarded with by the old scoring
you snipe someone pinning your team?you used to get more points for an elimination like that, now it’s worth the same as someone who lancers a downed player from kingdom come
you gib multiple enemies camping a power weapon?cool, you’re worth pretty much the same as those who spotted them or landed a couple of bullets from a safe spot
you’re far from the ring because you had to kill a couple flanking your unaware teammates?you did nothing according to the scoreboard because you had 40 elims already
all they needed to do was to increase the score amount for caps and breaks and give a more clear post match score while also applying rank restriction
also, still no solution for stacks vs solo which became a major issue right now
if you lose because your team isn’t performing (and it’s always been easy to see if it was you or the team jobbing) you go down HARD
the gp system has been the worst and the slow movement too, this game reminds me so much of destiny 1 with so much nerf and this was the same thing that made players not buy the 2 and neither play it for free
'In the first place, the system should have increases to more than 80, the reason is that before, if you down someone and they stole it, they were both rewarded for the kill, but you received 100 points plus 50 for a down
in this system a stolen kill has the same value cmon!

I have seen how they let entire groups that the others enter and make the break and vice versa to have a maximum total of points, this system is helping to make these things happen, unlike the original system
the slayer
It should not have a maximum of 80, the maximum must be increased, as slayer is normally made 96 and in games more difficult than what is normally seen, more than 120 are made, it does not seem to me that you reach 120 or 140 and the one that reach 80 or 86, kills or assist takes the mvp only for a break or one more cap

Another thing in ranked is not normal that gold groups for having a diamond are running into entire groups of diamonds, the previous system was more even and matched the game at the skill level of each participant in the game that system was a lot better than this

Koth scoring.
Theoretical the best koth team should not need to break the rings so if they run over a team and never need to break a single hill. They should get some bonus gp for it. Instead of letting the other team cap to be able to break it .

Its not a fighting game
I concur on that. I don’t think it’s reasonable to call it a fighting game. It’s a 3rd person shooter.
Well certain things or quirks about a game aren’t felt for everyone, like if your playing with/against lower skilled people Longshot seems almost useless, but you put that in the hands of a skilled marksman and it becomes one of the most powerful pickup weapons in the game.
When people debate Lancer v Gnasher there are a lot of things that affect that conversation. Map selection, solo vs stacks, ping, rank (which should reflect skill but not necessarily), all these things have a huge impact on how the game plays.
When I play KOTH I almost always play with stacks (I think I just enjoy the communication honestly, I’m a sad puppy), play with/against really high skilled players, I intentionally never vote for huge/crossheavy maps (Icebound, Pahanu, Vasgar, Bunker, etc.) and my pings is typically gucci (like 30ish) so the way I play isn’t reflective of the way everybody else plays. All this stuff being said though I suspect TC will consider making KOTH solo/duo like they are with TDM,
Let’s be real here if Gears 5 simply had less campy maps (Pahanu is a fantastic example of mediocre map design) I don’t believe we would be having this discussion, like if every map was like Allfathers or Reactor where Gnasher is the clearly dominant weapon, but the simple truth is that TC loves how lancer focused the game is, my suspicion is that they want Gears to play more like other shooters where everybody is just rifling each other down all game, and I (among others) just want Gears to be the adrenaline fueled toxic in your face shooter that it was since the beginning.
I remember having a conversation with somebody on my friendlist about the ranking system, they at some point argued that if there wasn’t any ranking system it would just mean that “bad kids” would get wrecked and they’d either learn to adapt or would leave Gears, now I’m not saying I 100% agree with that, but I 100% understand where he was coming from because back in the Gears 1-3 days it was a wild wild west, you basically either improved or got bodied over and over again, my point with this whole paragraph is that Gears fans (in general) have shifted from thinking Gears is a hardcore high skilled game where people would be constantly talking smack (ok they still do this lol) to this softcore game where as long as you can just sit at spawn and “support” your team with lancering everything that moves then you are a great Gears player.
On some maps you probably could get 10 to work, but 8 probably requires less work for TC and has the benefit of faster queue times.
As someone who plays a decent amount of FFA, I think 8 is better since it will likely reduce being constantly flanked and third-partied.
After all the criticism I’ve thrown at TC, I gotta say that this is a good What’s Up update. Not just for the content, but for the way it’s presented. The clear explanations with gifs to illustrate the changes really helps. This is the kind of transparency that the community has been asking for. Please keep it up.
@TC_Sera That being said, I’ve asked multiple times during the Dev stream and never gotten an answer to this question about Allies so I’m reiterating it here. Most players jumped up to over level 6 allies when the new update hit and the achievement for reaching level 5 allies never popped. Will TC be issuing a fix for this? Yes, I’ve already submitted a ticket for it but I’m having a hard time believing that TC didn’t anticipate this issue for the achievement prior to the launch of OP 4. This seems like it should be a rather easy fix, and if the ‘solution’ is to another higher level ally with one of our friends, the level 8+ allies will take quite some time to do when this achievement should have automatically unlocked. I’m hoping you can shed some light on this. Thanks.
I’ve been calling for the changes to bullet magnetism for months because I’m sick of being done by trailing/missing shots or being nailed when I know I’m in cover so I’m glad the gnasher is being addressed BUT is the magnetism being addressed regarding precision rifles like on the longshot/embar?
Also i would like to know why there was a change to the covers? @TC_Sera I do remember hearing dana saying in a previous dev stream that you guys had made some changes to the covers due to ppl complaing about something like rolling off of cover or something but im a frequent forum surfer and i haven’t heard anyone complaining about such things so why have these changes been made? Because im sick to death of sticking to cover and that is a REAL issue that needs addressing NOT the other thing that dana mentioned in previous dev stream.
Now for the big question. will u please address the elephant in the room… NETCODE!!! Will this hinder all the progress you have made and are continuing to make or will it in turn improve the netcode? I am hopeful for the future of gears now with their willingness to listen to us (the community) so listen to us when we say we want an in depth review AND a PUBLIC explanation in a “what’s up"or a " dev stream”

While I agree it sucks the achievement didn’t pop, just go play Co-op v AI Gridiron against beginner bots. You’ll get 70 ally points per match, and as soon you get to the next level of allies, it will pop for you.
