Some of these gnasher changes, on paper, looks pretty good, and seems to require more skill. That’s definitely a great thing. Lowering slide speed? Not a big fan of that, but, I guess, with these gnasher improvements, it might become more challenging hitting your target so the slower speed might not be as bad.

KOTH changes aren’t that appealing to me. I really wish they were because I want to get back into playing it.

Overall seems like a lot of effort is being shown.

My sentiments exactly but I think all the solo facing stacks complaints may have resulted in this. It’s too bad because it’s my favourite game mode that I enjoy with a group of friends but will only be able to with one friend at a time now. I guess it’s nice solo’s have a playlist that they can feel safe and secure (apparently 2v2 and FFA wasn’t enough) but it’s too bad it comes at a cost to my favourite game mode.

I don’t think this is a good argument for solo vs. stack matchmaking.

Plenty of other games have solo/duo queue for team-based modes. It’s not that big of a deal to implement it. I have nothing against stacks, but if the current ranking system is going to be win-based, it needs to have far better matchmaking than what TC is currently offering.

Sure, but those don’t play like traditional Gears. 2v2 is only gnashers and FFA is every man for themselves. Which is why having a mode like TDM be solo’s and duo’s is a good thing.

Quickmatch has bots.

Safe environment? Not sure why you’re so bitter about solo queue players wanting a better experience. There’s a better balance that can be found that can have solo’s and stacks both be happy. The TDM 4v4 thing is a step in the right direction. You still will have KOTH where you can stack, so what’s the problem?

You don’t think it would be better for stacks to play stacks?

All ranked modes should have team que and a separate solo que option. CoD did that the last time i played Cod (years ago) and it was a good fair option. I know our player base isnt nowhere near the size of CoD but i think this would be a good addition to the game as a whole. And please fix the horde bugs as seeing an update that doesnt address any of these broken game elements is disheartning. And 1 last thing, it hurts not being able to flex my uir spaceforce skin in pve modes, it shouldve been a Paduk (same voice) skin or give the uir boys & girls a horde/escape build (sniper) PLEASE!!!:disappointed_relieved:

Absolutely love this direction i Don’t know if these changes were already in place but a lot of the issues i addressed im my post are already being fixed. Cheers, ill have to find time off work to put some more hours in and test it out.

KOTH is better than TDM anyway. I’d happily trade you TDM going back to the way it was if KOTH could be solo/duo and 4v4 only.

This is better. With the current 2 GP per elimination people aren’t pushing the objective, choosing to mostly keep a distance and use ranged weapons to gain some easy GP from the kills the rest of us finish.

I actually enjoy FFA but the matchmaking time ruins it, so these changes are welcome. The Escape maps do get boring very quickly as well, the normal maps are definitely welcome.

Good, TDM should be in Ranked without question. I’m not keen on the 4v4 but I understand the logics. The lack of big stacks defeats the point but given it’s ranked I think it’s acceptable.

Regarding the Gnasher, the changes look promising. The Gnasher’s shots should always be a consistent spread and not random with every individual shot, these changes should’ve existed at launch. Better late than never, but we’ll see how they play out.

Well it’s about time this horrific change was reversed.

Melee balance? Restore the original melee and get rid of that knife nonsense.

As for the weapon swap, it couldn’t be anymore punishable given the pace of most matches. Leave it be.

Anyway, like I said, we’ll wait and see how these changes play out. If they play out as described then we could be looking at a successful step in the right direction to fixing this game.

Of course it goes without saying that there are still numerous server and connectivity issues that contribute to ruining player’s experiences. Until those are sorted, then all that this update has to offer can’t be properly and consistently tested.

I dont understand. Its okay for KOTH to have stacks vs stacks but TDM is a no go because reasons? I don’t know if I’m reading you correctly. I dont know why making TDM so restricted in terms of stacks is okay but the other rabked modes are free ball game. You’d still get more likely stomped out by stacks anywhere else if you’re solo queuing so why doesn’t this same energy apply to KOTH and Gridiron?

Also quick play TDM does not have bots. Just throwing that out there.

I’d be delighted but I’m sure there would be some friends in KOTH who may be disappointed they can’t play together.

I’ve been bitter ever since Dodgeball was take out of Ranked :wink:

If they aren’t going to fix matchmaking to be more equitable, then I don’t see an issue in giving solo’s/duo’s a playlist where they don’t have to worry about going against a 5 man, but still get the full gears experience and a rank. Personally, if I were in charge, I would fix matchmaking so that you could stack in all modes or play solo in all modes and only face teams composed of similar party sizes.

They didn’t elaborate, but I suspect the 4v4 change is to make the game mode play better. One less teammate means more lives distributed throughout the team and more importantly, a single player can have a bigger impact now, which I think is great.

It doesn’t, but I don’t get a rank, so doesn’t keep me wanting to play it.

Just because I don’t want to play stacks when solo (I love facing stacks if I’m in a stack) doesn’t mean I want to play bad players, which is why I play ranked. I want better opponents, but I want the teams to be fair. That’s all.

GEARS OF WAR is a Shooter/ fighting arcade game.
Think of it as street fighter . You have to time your button inputs to do certain moves.
Gears is NOT A RPG AND ITS NOT CALL OF DOOKIE.
Please stop trying to make it something IT ISNT.
Your taking key ingredients of a game out. Without those ingredients. You dont have gears of war.
You will have GEARS JUDGMENT.

Wasnt that one of THE BIGGEST COMPLAINTS.

GEARS 5 LAUNCH , THE Slide speed was at 630. You bumped it up to 650 and also got rid of that goof ball locomotive strafing. AND YOU GUYS WERE PRAISED for the improvements.
People were only asking for MAPS AND SKINS .

So WHY SLOW down the slide speed to 600

Thats 30 points slower than launch.
The game already feels SLOW AF at 650.
Your playerbase started leaving after op.3
My friends playing this game list SAYS IT ALL.
I used to have anywhere from 30 to 40 people playing gears all the way through op.2. Within weeks of op.3 i noticed that number cut to 15 and lower.
NOW AFTER OP.4. IM SURPRISED When i see more than 5 people playing.
Guess how many are playing gears as I type this.
GOOD GUESS. . ITS 2 PEOPLE PLAYING.

Yeah the way FFA is set up now it should be in quickplay. The power weapons and the drastic differences in connections ruin any competitive nature of it.

Again. 1 person that has complained about weapon swap speed in every single developer stream.

So why DOES THIS 1 PERSON have soooo much weight that no one else complains about.
Its pointless to even give this a second thought let alone CHANGE it to make 1 person happy because he gets wrecked because that 1 person RUNS STRAIGHT AT a opponent that is smart enought to change weapons , while that 1 person is thinking he will get a insta gib but instead gets wrecked.

Its asinine

I know. I don’t see any issues, or “imbalances”, with weapon swapping as it currently is.
