What is the point of this weapon now

Ahh okay, chill then.

Yes I did see, the clip started with you performing an active reload.

So reloading provides no significant damage and ROF increase. The reload animation would be short if you get the timing right. Now reloading in PvP does the exact same function as other games, refilling the bullets in your gun.

The active reload mechanic was proprietary to Gears. Removing this from PvP makes Gears one step closer to any generic shooter out there.

And that’s bad, Gears is supposed to be unique.

I’m not going to take the time to search for it, but if you look through the “This Week in Gears” posts you will find that they did indeed remove active effects from load-out weapons; all the active reload does for those weapons now is simply reload the weapon faster.

The post is definitely from a while ago–maybe a few months or more, I can’t remember exactly.

Yeah, thats me too.

Havent played ranked in several operations.

Stopped playing horde mostly now too…

Maybe a couple of horde games per week, thats my plan.

Clearly, like Star Wars, i am no longer the target audience of this franchise…

Yeah not going to do that, that’s a lot of work. But thanks anyway.

This is when the active reload tuning was added to the developer playlist, which was about two or so weeks prior to it being fully implemented into PvP:

As a support player I agree with the Lancer being too week. Unsurprisingly Gears 3 has the best Lancer.

I was playing some Gears 3 last week funny enough.

Some Dizzy was running around with a Retro charging people and if he failed he would instantly melee them.

I’ll be honest, i couldn’t kill him, he was a complete god amongst men.

I found the overall experience similar to being fisted by Dwayne Johnson , however i did enjoy myself.

Well i say i enjoyed myself, basically i just didn’t fall asleep like when i play Gears 5.

I play a lot of Gears 3 still.:+1:

Come Sep 20th this year Gears 3 will be 10 years old believe it or not, that’s kinda mad to think about.

The balancing was better before they’ve really made certain guns utterly useless now.

Some real unnecessary nerfs on already underperforming guns

One of the changes when OP4 started. They changed the reload-bar for PvP AND PvE for no ■■■■■■■ reason at the same time.

Stop playing the game. It’s literally the only way they might do something. Drop that player count to double digits.

Still warps my brain that everyones not aware that they removed actives off of starting weapons. As for proof. Start a game. Try and active reload any of your starting guns and the bullets DO NOT blink. If they did blink they’d be active. Why they decided to take out a key mechanic thats been in the game since the first gears I have no idea. I think actives back on the starting weapons would clear up a lot of the issues people are saying they’re having with their guns feeling weak i.e 99% in 1 gnasher shots, or trying to lancer someone down who’s not in cover. I think actives back on starting weapons would give the weapons the little bit of OOMF they need right now and also bring back some of the feeling from the original games. ALSO to hell with activing a whole clip. Make people make the conscious decision to expend a few bullets to get actives. That active system they started in Gears 4 where you can active your whole clip in 1 reload was cancer.

Looks fine. You literally missed some shots and didn’t look like you hit a single head shot. Getting an easy kill while someone picks up a weapon standing still is the cheesiest way to get kills anyway. I always find it funny when players complain about a Lancer not getting them their easy kill while someone is standing still picking up a weapon. Not easy enough for you folks to camp and hit your shots? Just another example of the forums going AWOL lately. Time for you people to get some fresh air or play something else, for reals.

In all seriousness though I’m totally for making weapon pick up times more seamless. I’m not a fan of the meta where players camp until someone is stuck in a pick up animation. Kind of goes hand in hand with the delays. Let players have closer to full control over what’s going on. Camping power weapons is boring af. Bring back a weapon slide. Make people work for their kills. And abolish the boom. Rocket launcher is not even fun. Sub in the digger booshka or torque. Anything else is better imo. /End rant * waits for everyone complaining about the Lancer not being OP enough to start flaming *

Edit: “If i’m going up against a stack with braindead teammates i need to be able to do damage. The problem of setups and crossing doesn’t go away with this tuning, it’s still just as easy in a coordinated team. It just makes it harder for a single player to make a difference against that team when you don’t have teammates to also help.”

Really… The Lancer needs to be powerful enough to accommodate the fact that your team is trash?

The problem you refer to might not go away completely (crossing/Lancer stacks), but the extent to which that stuff happens will be different with this weaker lancer. Where’s all the adapt adapt adapt… The whole era of trying to convert gears to a rifle based game, that is all the CQC fans heard. Adapt. And here we are now complaining we can’t get a kill on a guy standing still…

We all want the same thing. A functioning fun gears game. Gotta vent about how we feel :yum: everyone venting about the new tuning and the Lancer that’s 10% weaker than before. Well, time for me to post how I feel about all that complaining. Just my 2 cents. We need as many opinions as possible to uncover the truth :face_with_monocle:

Now they just add a delay after pickup. The balance, ffs.

Proof? It’s common knowledge. Boot up a versus game, active your Lancer, and notice the ammo count isn’t flashing and there’s no difference in sound when firing.

Lancer’s useless now.
