Paduk/Sam (as they are in campaign) both in PvE and Horde maybe Escape.

Return of Booshka is likely, hopefully we’ll see many more previous weapons return as well.

Mo Maps, hope to god we don’t get a trashy new map or remake (I stand by my statement that Pahanu is a disgrace to Gears map design) so I would hope to see 1 new map (possibly that thing shown on Gears POP? idk, as long as it isn’t big enough to fit 2 gridlocks inside it it should play fine more or less. 2 remakes (hopefully ones that aren’t awful like a Raven Down or BloodDrive) so I’m thinking a Pavilion or pretty much any of the GOW2 maps that haven’t been remade to death would do. What matters most with remakes isn’t that they stick to the exact layout and design of originals, but that they are remastered to play better for GOW5 (shorter sightlines, better counters, perhaps new weapon placement)

I expect nothing.

That’s not really a criticism of the amount of content TC has placed in these operation updates. I kinda expect nothing with every game now. You view it more objectively.

Some actual content that doesn’t make me want to shelve this game permanently. With each new OP, I have been playing this game less and less. Gears just can’t keep my attention like it used to.

What I want and what I think we will get are two different things. What I want is the new Ranking system to drop and a update to the war journal with at least a few maps. What I think we will get apart from a new Tod is one or two maps hopefully and a couple bugs here and there. Something is going to break and I hate to say it. I don’t have high expectations from TC anymore. Gears 5 is what it is.

As far as the content I’m interested in (maps & characters):

1 new map
1 copy and paste job from Gears 4
1 COG
1 Locust/Swarm

I’ve lowered my standards considerably to expect the above as a minimum.

Side Note - This is what I expect and NOT what I want - Ideally I’d like to see 4 new Maps (2 new & 2 new remakes not seen since Gears 1-3) plus at least 4 characters including Dom & Tai.

But to answer the OP what I want and what I expect are 2 completely different things…

I expect at least 4 maps for versus multiplayer (not including FFA or 2V2 Gnashers)

I don’t care if they are totally new maps are just remakes. I just want them to be playable on all 5v5 game modes. I would feel robbed if they gave us new maps and half of them are for FFA and 2V2.

People were hardcore passionate about getting commando Dom in 4 so if they wanted to pander some with an established fan favorite then he’s up there.
I hope he does show but if you crap in one and and hope in the other we know which hand is going to fill up first :laughing:

Oscar’s V.O. actor didn’t come back. They hired a dude that sound alike to do that one scene. Probably the only reason they killed him off. The end credits sequence in 4 was a joke anyway but damn TC. And they killed off Lizzie, who isa more entertaining and compelling character than Kait “i have a headache” Diaz or Sophia “my friends are dead” Hendrick could have ever been. Well when your so-called joke character family is more popular than your main characters I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.

Worf needs another asskicking to show how tough the new enemy is…

and when you have this moron writing your game, creating and killing off good but underutilized characters is no surprise. (This is the writer of Gears Gears Judgment and is an interview about the story. He also wrote Gears 4 and 5).

For context, He’s literally describing Sofia by saying she’d be the only squadmate in Kilo who’d do something that Cole literally ******* did in Gears 2. He ran in and performed a one man rescue mission. But noooo…Sofia is definitely the only one who would run into a firefight.

The guy’s such a hypocrite. In the Jim Carrey doesn’t like the Kick A**" film despite acting in that film kind of way.

This dude said numerous times that he doesn’t like violent games… he is TC’s main in-studio lead writer, and yet wrote Gears Judgment…a game about fluffy bunnies and kittens holding paws while singing children’s songs apparently.

I knew Oscar had a different voice actor pretty much right when we saw him in Act 2. Way different voice than in 4.

But damn, that was a long rant for what seemed like an initially simple statement to make.

Also, putting aside my lack of military knowledge, it would seem slightly suicidal to storm across incoming fire from enemies, marine or not(well, maybe not storm across, but I wouldn’t run head first into it unless it was to find cover). But what do I know about that stuff, never having served in nor having any intentions to go into a military.(edited)

Yeah I just don’t like that they killed off two decent characters and focus on one or two bland ones that are extremely unlikable. I can’t stand Kait in Gears 5. In 4 she was ok and my issue was with Del being irritating. In 5 both are. Jimmy Smits is one of my favorite actors. Idk. Killing off Tai was dumb too, but that was Epic’s doing.

The writing for these games has always been “adequate.” I’ve made my peace with it.

The books and comics are pretty decent at giving the characters compelling stories.

Tbh, I’m probably one of the few people who didn’t really mind Oscar in Gears 4 much. He at least said some things that were funny. Didn’t see many others who did like the guy though.

I don’t personally mind Kait too much, but Lizzie would’ve been more interesting to have along than Del for sure. Nothing against his character, but they could have done more things with her than with Del. Particularly since it feels like that whoever dies in the Settlement 2 incident with the Hammer is pretty interchangeable except for maybe Fahz(don’t think anyone would’ve cared much if he’d died there and then), and Kait bc TC built at least some part of the story around her. Could’ve even been Del who died there for JD’s character arc(even if it wasn’t totally ideal to kill any character there) but no, we gotta kill the Carmine with more potential instead.

As much as I liked Tai in GOW2, his death had some real weight. I know he was only with the player in the squad for a fairly short period of time, but for some reason or other it just struck me hard.
