Well would you look at this

I have been getting rather tired of all the repeated complaints and aggressive posts, as well as ones asking for Cliffy B back(which a recent thread has told me would not be such a good idea if that was ever seriously demanded) or for TC to be replaced, as well. With those kinds of attitudes, it’s no wonder no feedback or word from TC has reached the forums in a while now. Has me wanting to just go on a forum break until/if things calm down a little. Most of what really bothers me about Gears 5 is really just having server issues with progression(today again, 50 waves of Insane the game decided I wouldn’t get any rewards for it, which wasn’t great) and sometimes being able to (not) play the game. Everything else mostly seems subjective and/or minor that I’m just starting to get into more(I have played since Gears 2, but find this one is not really that bad though I have not had much interest in going into the Versus aspect as I generally tend to be more of a PvE player). Other than that, I have had some decent fun in playing the game.

But I only started posting on these forums(old and new TC forum), under a different account at first on the old one and a few months ago on this one with this account. So I never experienced what the Gears forums were like during the Epic days(probably not very good given what you say, especially when Gears J was around).

Some of the threads on here really are just ■■■■ posts. People are mad aat the game and express their anger in the form of… As you put it ‘autism’. On the other hand, there are plenty of valid complaints, plenty of people offering sensible solutions to the game’s problems and plenty of people who still have hope for the game’s future. These forums are like every other corner of the Internet… Lots of ‘autism’ and a few coherent people sprinkled about.

I am all pro change.
BUT ! the problem is where the changes are made in a game or elsewhere, and also how the changes are implemented.
The first game i played a lot was Soldier of Fortune, in the great scope of things it was a small game, but i really liked to play its CTF mode.
Then the sequel came out and it was no good, and i think there was a 3 game too, but then it was also all over.
Then i changed to play COD, and the first game was also alright though i was now forced to play TDM.
Later i changed to COD 2 but here things was already on a down slope.
Still later i got COD Modern warfare, and i really tried hard to like this game, but the leveling up this and that just pissed me off so bad, and in the end i also had to let it slide.
And then since then ( 2007 ) i have pretty much not played a FPS game as they have all changed to things i don’t like, and as the world are not set up to cater for me then i have nothing to play.

I think GOW have the same problems for what i hear ( have not played the older games )
Changes made to the games, and changes the community was not a part off, so its just something that have been forced on people.
And i think every one dislike when something they love and have put a lot of time and effort into change, not least when the changes made are not the ones they called for.

I have by chance run into some of my clan friends from SOF, and many of them still play but now titles like Fortnite - Apex ASO, all of which i don’t even have to try to know i would not like them.
So i guess those guys changed too, which is good for them, surely not something i will hold against them.

I was Diamond in Gears 4, and I’m currently diamond in gears 5. Casual or not, if you’re good at Gears, you’re going to be better than the average player. I think Gears 5 has just given a lot of players like you a reality check that perhaps they weren’t as good as they seem.

The logic people like you make is that, because the game is “more casual” it’s easier for new players but not the veterans? You see how that makes no sense. New players don’t get some sort of invisible buff. If it’s easier for new “less skilled” players, it’s easier for you too.

If your reason for hating Gears 5 is because it’s less skilled and you’re being killed by “low skill” players, perhaps y’all need to take a look in the mirror and check if you’re one of those “low skill” players.

Because as I mentioned. I’m doing pretty much just as good as I was doing in previous games, there’s no reason why y’all shouldn’t be too.

But this forum is full of people that have been playing since gears 1. These are the ultimate vets who never miss a shot or miss time wall bounce. It’s safe to say that anytime they die it’s never their fault it’s the games fault completely. How could you even say that???

When I read your comments I just laugh, thanks.

I was a diamond on gears 4 also, thanks for the pep talk, but I’m perfectly happy to come to my own conclusion without any external influence from you. I’m glad you’re enjoying it, that doesn’t mean I, or for that matter all of the other pros and veterans who are in the same camp on this one, will agree.

Edit: Your entire argument is also just a strawman argument predicated on some notion that I’m not doing well on gears 5. I have been playing just fine and have not been killed by ‘low skill players’ (EU servers permitting), I simply take no joy in winning or getting kills because it’s a slow and easy game.

I’m sorry, but any amount of defending this game is null and void. It’s 22nd most played game, it has a 2.7 Rating, it has 1k viewers on mixer, fell behind farming simulator.

If you truly love this franchise you need to open your eyes and see this game is killing the franchise.

The thing is, I agree the game isn’t completely terrible, it has a ton of potential but all the minor tunings the did to nerf the gnasher players is outrageous. When I fired up Gears game it’s because I wanted the in your face skilled action game where the better player earned his or her way to be the better player. Learning and adapting to the weapons the art of the shotgun and how to maneuver. This doesn’t exist anymore, it’s why we all feel so disconnected.

  • Tone down Aim Assist by a lot
  • Get rid of the Bullet Magnetism (it’s very much still there)
  • Tone down the lancer or remove its stopping power
  • Get rid of the Delays, the game needs to feel fluid
  • Better Maps, they are balanced horribly

These 5 things had been fixed ASAP the game wouldn’t be in the situation it’s in. The mass decrease in player count makes defending the game fairly pointless.

Ps if I want to play a rifle heavy game, I’m going to play a game that does it better. Cliffy B had his problems, but he still didn’t over do it. What they have done without him there has been complete garbage.

Correction Sir or Madam, it has a 2.5 * rating on the official Xbox store.

Well I’ll just keep it 2.7 to be nice.

Lmao

As funny as reading this is, and knowing it likely is auto correct, it is magnetism and not magnesium.

Wrong. Bullet magnesium is a bigger issue than bullet magnetism. Overdosing on magnesium is a serious concern when playing Gears5.

I don’t know what is used in Gears Flashbangs, but it doesn’t look like magnesium to me.

The point is more important then the spelling.

Of course it is, but do you lose anything by not being serious from time to time?

It’s in the words bullet magnesium. Ever since the fall of the Locusts, metals needed to make bullets were harder to find so they started using magnesium. Now everytime yo take a shot, you get a boost of it in your system. It’s a serious health concern and TC needs to resolve this asap.

(K it’s early in the morning don’t even know what I’m talking about anymore lol )

I’ve been joking on here frequently tbh, but I’m to the point with this game where I’ve lost my laugh when it comes to the anything related to it. Not personal to you.

Almost every game above it on that list is either a Battle Royale or an EA sports game, I see nothing above it that wasn’t already going to be above it regardless.

From review bombs on the MS store, it’s sitting in the high 8s on Metacritic.

Lol, I love it when people use twitch or mixer as a some kind of metric. Right now, Gears 5 is in the middle of very solid games. By your logic, the fact that Borderlands 3 has fewer views than nerds sitting in front of a camera playing D&D means that it too is a failure. This streaming nonsense can’t be measured in a way that’s an actually useful indicator of quality.

Since this was indirectly aimed at me, that’s simply not my mentality whatsoever. Am I not allowed to take the opinion that the game has been made easier with a reduced skill gap, whilst also being perfectly aware that I’m not pro or even all that good in the grand scheme of things?
