Forcing myself to do several the Line runs as Pilot, I’ve decided on possibly the best strat to play her on this hive. I’m making this post because, in my experience, it’s a very underappreciated class on this hive. Not everyone understands what it can do here. IMO, any team should be able to work with Pilot, but caution, as not everyone appreciates the class. You may wind up kicked every once in a while, but keep your head up! The fault is typically not yours, but of their ignorance. I’ll try to keep this short. I’ll only list the cards with explanations for their uses.
Card setup: Rear Armor, Aggressive Armor, Cold Finish, Bleeding Mulcher, The Hammer
Rear Armor: you can last a long time in venom. If you don’t have a particularly strong team, this can come in handy since you’ll often be riding venom closely, or be behind it. Lasting a long time in venom means you’re able to retrieve left behind weapons other classes wouldn’t dare to.
Aggressive Armor: can help protect you. If you’re at full health, a talon or hammerburst shot on a scion provides stim, which lets you tank any hit, even a dropshot or buzzkill.
Cold Finish: used to finish off scions weakened by teammates. Some strong classes are able to quickly bring scions down to low health, but to finish them off they need to waste additional precious ammo. If coordinated well, you can finish them off with your talon, hammerburst or a spare mulcher, as soon as they are at 25% health. This is also good for picking off any trailing, weakened scions marching from behind through the venom.
Bleeding Mulcher: be careful with this one! It only comes in handy against specific scions, namely Dropshots, Buzzkills, and to some extent Cryos. It can take Drops and Buzz’s out quickly, perhaps quicker than any other class (save for Marksman through x-ray). For Drops, get in their face so the mulcher penetrates the shield then let loose. For Cryos, make sure there’s enough distance between you so you won’t be frozen. I wouldn’t try it on Mulchers. Careful there aren’t any around because they’ll end the fun quickly!
The Hammer: Can stun a scion for 4 secs or so, providing an easy kill for a melee class, or an opportunity to revive downed teammates. Prioritize Mulchers and Cryos as those are the fastest and most dangerous. If a Tactician cooperates with you, you two can team up for devastating dropshot flurries! Perhaps it’s best use case is at the LZ, after the lever is pulled. With a full dropshot, you should be able to stun-lock the scions so they never make it out onto the pad!
Alright, that does it! Let me know what you think. Anyone completed a bunch of runs on the Line as Pilot? I’ve probably done 5 or 6. Do you agree with my suggestions or are there any cards you’d change out?
