Weekly Hive - The Line

And they might have some just lying around (one I use was found lying around.)

You’ll definitely get it. I was lucky to have a really good player show me all the maps when I first started out so I skipped some steps that you may be going through now. If you stick with it, you’ll only get better over time.

Not sure if you saw but I recently posted my first game on ice queen on master.

It was painful to watch my old self and hilarious seeing how little I actually knew.

I think it’s just laziness more than anything. They don’t think it’s important enough to communicate. Or they are just shy.

The barracks when it first came out used to drive me nuts because people would blindly pull venom fast without reason or logic. In hindsight it’s probably just casual players being casual.

Yeah I spent £10 on a mini one from amazon when I quickly learned that people didn’t like to use comms.

I can count on one hand the number of times a random has suggested anything on escape other than ‘run’. I honestly thought my headset was knackered for quite a while or not working in game. I’m more than willing to spend another couple of minutes setting up my class with suggestions from someone more experienced but it just doesn’t really happen. I’ve had plenty of abuse though after a run fails

I will check it out, I watched your Barracks solo runs tonight. Your clay run is a prime example of holding nerve when I would have launched myself out of the window  Use of the venom I hadn’t considered or would have had the bottle to try. Especially the run to the safe room. Your clay seems to stay alive in the dark venom a long time, does his Ult help with that?

Bait Armor works as venom resistance. Also, Clayton’s ultimate makes him immortal for 6 seconds. Is the barracks the daily? I haven’t been online yet.

I’m pretty sure the first time the barracks was solo’d was when I did it as lahni in Op3. That game was very intense. I was in thick venom for almost the whole game.

That was back when elite drones needing 2 active long shots to kill them and scions needed like 6 active long shots to kill them.

Ran it with randoms earlier today and one of the randoms immediately pulled every fan in sight.

Guess how that went. Lol

It depends on what classes are present and if you can handle the Juvies without venom while luring the Scions away from the saferoom door leading to the barracks - assuming it’s Mulchers that only appear with the Sniper spawn at the start, you can run past the Buzzkills very easily(now watch TC relocate them to the other tile) - as well as flipping both bridge levels asap, you can safely flip the venom fans immediately.

Of course if you do have a Blademaster you’ll want to wait for the venom ash to at least cover the tile next to the two bridges or platforms or whatever you wanna call em… but this is randoms we’re talking about.

I wanted to skip the juvie spawn. They pulled both available fans too early, and we died in venom because of it.

I’m making a point of pulling fans from now on lol.

I just completed the gold time as Blademaster with 2 randoms and they really seemed to go out of there way to make sure that I could never fight in venom in either act.

One of them was even a Tactician lmao.

Nowadays if this happens, I just message the team and say something to the effect of “if you rush ahead of the venom, that’s fine by me, but I’m not going to be able to help.” They soon change their tune.

I think part of it is that Lahni/Blademaster is probably disproportionately affected by venom/lack of venom compared to the other Hivebusters characters. I mean, with ultimate recharge so connected to damage delivered, it’s not always a big issue for Keegan/Tactician (although the difference that Venom Boost makes is a very big one!) just because explosive weapons are by nature high-damage. With Lahni, there’s a different kind of a chain for her which relies on venom - venom = extra defence. Venom = bleed damage; and bleeding enemies leads to extra healing.

Oh trust me I did, but they didn’t care until the very end when I convinced them to wait for venom so I could ult the LZ spawn.

It also didn’t help that we got the harder spawn in Act 2 on the Barracks tile (Mulcher Scions), otherwise the Tactician would have gotten a Salvo and it would have been much more straightforward.

That’s randoms for you bruv. Just hard to bear playing with.

If they’re bad you can carry them, but that’s a tad bit annoying.

Are the scions in Escape nerfed in terms of player awareness? I swear all the instances I’ve played on The Line you can slow walk your away around a few despite being like 15ft away and in line of sight.

Got it on first try with a Tactician Disciplined/Mod Hammerburst setup as I still need some of his new cards. It absolutely shreds the first act. Was having so much fun with Hammerburst I didn’t plan on switching it out. One of the teammates was Sarah with modified frag, so she took all red boxes for her frags, and then insisted I take the torque she had filled up. So I swapped HB for it at that point. Seemed to work out fine either way. We went the mines route and got the time fairly easily. People are saying it isn’t easy to get the time in the mines route. So likely the person who got tags had score boosts.

I have skipped the juvie spawn on occasion, but I think it’s risky. If you have someone who needs the dropshot, it also isn’t ideal. It requires hitting the fans and switches ASAP. Someone will need to take out the drones quickly, or keep them occupied as someone does this. Then, it isn’t guaranteed everyone makes saferoom since no one will have distracted the scions. It’ll be target practice for them as soon as you start running. Sometimes, everyone makes it in without a scratch, but often one or two barely makes it. Worst case is a wipe.

If you’re quick, you can finish that first encounter with 10-15 seconds left on bomb. You pull bridge, go back for first fan, wait for bridge, pull second bridge, pull second fan, you’re golden.

And I’ve never died running to the saferoom unless I’m with a random who refuses to coordinate when we run.

Everyone goes together, you make it.

What’s comical about the barracks is you always have 5 drone enemies to kill and some people feel like the first step is to pull the first venom fan as if the drone enemies will disappear when you pull it.

If it’s just to clear, the priority should be to kill all 5 enemies then pull the bridge as fast as possible.

As you already said, if you do this within 15 seconds of the bomb, you should have no problem not needing to deal with the juvie spawn.

Higher health characters have more leeway. In terms of when you must pull the bridge.

I feel the map has been out too long for people to keep playing this way…that’s how it was played when it came out.
