“We are listening”

They are listening, just that we do not know who they are listening to. However, some of the changes have been good ones, some very good ones.
What they did to the Engineer though, now that is just plain horrible. They talk about a Class system, yet go back upon it with the OP 4 thing, everyone can now build anything and everything, which leave the Engineer out of a Class in a Class system.
I do not see good things coming from this change, too many people are going to ignore the Engineer from now on, a Redundant Engineer is not a good Engineer. I mean seriously, if everyone stopped playing the Engineer out of protest, what would the game turn in to. Probably nothing now everyone can build everything. Therefore many my statement more than true. Engineers have been made Redundant. Thank you for listening The Coalition. You listened to the non Engineers over the actual Engineers, it is like asking a Builder to fly a Space Shuttle.

The builder won’t fly the space shuttle nearly as well as the qualified pilot, or whichever system is in place on it, so they will leave it to the person or system who can do it better if they’re smart.

Likewise, an engineer is NOT REDUNDANT NOW. You’ve just gotten it into your head so much that you don’t have full control over the fabricator… when you do, because you can kick anyone who builds when you don’t want them to… that you’re trying to convince anyone of this falsehood.

Meanwhile coordinated teams and smart players will do the same thing as in Gears 4, take an engineer and let them build instead of everyone doing it willy nilly. Because good luck trying to complete high difficulty runs especially with zero fortifications…

They are not redundant, they are still hugely needed for repairs, discounts and bonuses to forts. What TC has done is made sure that a match can be played through without an engineer, but it still won’t be an optimal team and won’t work on too high a difficulty. They have also put some pressure on engineers, I think the tolerance for an engineer that prioritizes sentries and kills before team support will be lower now. Both these changes are to the better imo.
I haven’t tried playing engineer after the changes, but I’ll try it in a match this weekend. To avoid chaos I’ll put “engineer builds” in the title, but other from that I expect to play exactly as usual: Equip the team with lockers first, barriers where I see they are needed, then shocks where I think the teammates need relief from leeches and juvies and/or needs the flow of enemies slowed down, then a few mg:s as insurance far back in the base. I don’t expect matches this weekend to turn out different than in op3.
Just remembered, I will actually care more for the taps now, the changes regarding health gave them more strategic importance. Also a change I think I like, pending further playtests.

I mean, that’s true in all aspects of life really.

There’s always gonna be someone who is going to disagree, when there are 7 billion people in the world.

Engineers are not redundant, someone playing as cog gear or kait for example isnt going to get the same discounts on build cost for fortifications as baird or Del, this also includes repair costs and speed, the most productive teams will still use an engineer, try to remember that being an anti-social engineer and spamming deposit in quick chat isn’t great teamwork, I don’t care if your the best horde engineer since launch, you can’t blame this update for ruining the engineer class in some way if your playing with randoms.

They only listen to themselves and they are freaking good at it.

Of course they are listening, new rankeds, new store, the horde changes and escape with respect to op 5, the winnable currency and the elimination of totems, details such as the design of the cyclops or Carmine’s helmet, the 8 bullets … … you focus only on the bad and that should not be so

tdm will return but they have given him time to make some changes and see if he likes the community, if we don’t like it they will leave him as always, they said it

you dont like the dessert camo marzka?

Will gears ever going to get server’s or just P2P connection?

You are 100% correct, but i did over exaggerate that one a little.

To AmicableWall421, bob is eve and Hivebuster98 i am a little angry at The Coalition for what they did, and i do believe you that the Engineer is Redundant, again, anger and over exaggeration, i do think some Classes should be able to build some Fortifications, just like i thing the Classes should be allowed to take certain weapons from the Fabricator. The Coalition went too far with this OP.

What they should have done is allowed Classes to build Fortification that go with the Class, for example Scouts do not need Fortifications, so they do not need to build, the Sniper uses lots of Bullets, especially Markza users, so they will need a Weapons Locker and i see no reason why they can not build Barriers too, because they are stationary gunners. Classes using heavy weapons will need Weapons Lockers too, although they will not need Barriers. And as for Weapons from the Fabricator, opening up this for everything was too much, each Class should build weapons to their means and not go willy nilly and buy, lets say for example a Sniper wants to use a Rocket Pod, yeah i know, it is a stupid example, it is all i can think of at the moment, a Rocket Pod is somewhat out of a Snipers league. You know that sort of thing.
What also should have happened was anyone other than the Engineer building, can only build a level 1 Fortification.
As you all have said, and Engineer is not Redundant, and is still needed, and pity the fool going in to a higher difficulty game without an Engineer. So, lets keep the Engineer important. How is that… Better ???

And, and yeah, thank you very much, for trying to make me feel better about the character/Class i love so much in Gears 5. It is much apprieciated

How do you know its broken??

It is better, because it gives us all a lot more freedom in horde matches, for example I play private horde with my friends on advanced or even insane to see how far we get, sometimes I cba to go engineer when we play insane, this update has added so many quality of life features such as what we’ve discussed with all classes being able to build everything, theres also hell of a lot more freedom than we had before especially when it comes to weapons in the fabricator, my only grife is that the pistols never made it in to be purchasable, but hey at least JD can’t hog all the lancer GL now :man_shrugging:

Dont even bother man its pointless

Literally! All people have done is complain about the bleeding ranking system, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Gears 5 will end up a repeat of gears 4 where TC are constantly tuning versus play, because these types of players are so ungrateful and unsatisfied.

Surprisingly, the freedom was there before, i on several occasions have used Fahz as a replacement for when i wanted a break from Baird/Engineer. He can build Barriers and Weapons Lockers, and on the second difficulty, on my own, i can do a 50. So, you could easily do a an Advanced, and the next difficulty with the same method.
I have no real problems with the Fabricator being opened to all, ok, i admit, it has pee’d me off no end, but what has made it worse is opening it completely. The Coalition should have at least restricted the Fortifications to level 1.

As for the Weapons in the Fabricator, i have always said that the weapons should be unlocked to the Classes, and not to “all” the Classes. I played a Solo game yesterday, and guilt as charged, i used the Lancer GL. A lot. I love that weapon, but i do find the Magazine rather short changed.

The only thing we can hope for is that they dont do with 6 what they did with 5

And by that I mean dont get 5 to a good point and then just start from scratch with 6.

You havent explained your reasonings for why all classes excluding engineers should be restricted to level 1 fortifications :man_facepalming:

And dont feel guilty^ :joy: thats how it should be! I remember in gears 2 and 3 when weapons dictated your playstyle or class, its way more fun like this, I don’t see why you’d want it any other way, its fun, which is what playing video games is about :man_shrugging: tell me if I’m wrong…

Tell you what isn’t fun, complaining about verus play every chance you get so it messes up any progress for the rest of the game…

Edit: @ll_R_E_D_l couldn’t agree more :ok_hand:
