TC just like to overhype and do the things we aren’t interested in. I think they get some kind of thrill out of it.

Mine would be a trilogy. Television show would be wildly expensive and cost prohibitive. To do it justice it would be exponentially more expensive than Game of Thrones, and would even likely surpass the new Middle Earth television show in cost.
Sums up what I was trying to say. Limited resources better spent elsewhere.

It’s cool Bautista is involved but I’ve never had any desire to play with his skin and won’t when I inevitably replay the campaign.
Maybe unfairly, I generally prepare for any Marcus in Horde with the Bautista skin to be below average. No offense to Dave.
No, it feels like a waste of time and resources. Could have used the time to record new dialogue for old characters like Tai, Anya or Dizzy. You know characters that we actually want in the game.

Judging by in game experience it seems the movie’s plotline will be centered around the main character buying sentries at marked up prices and moving stuff around non-optimally, even though Baird is also in the cast.

When I heard his lines I knew he wasn’t a good fit honestly. Who else could play Marcus the way John DiMaggio does? There’s not many people that could.

I dont really like his performance as Marcus. I dont particularly like his line delivery (or some of his lines for that manner).
I appreciate that an actor has their own view on what Marcus might sound like, but it doesnt sound believable. That may be because I’m used to the delivery of John DiMaggio over the years, but over the past year I’ve not warmed to his (Batista) delivery.
That’s one of my main reasons. I also find it quite disrespectful.
If there was one thing that came out of the Terminator and Halo crossover, is that promotional characters in other universes dont really mesh that well in Gears. And a significant portion of fans dont like it. So this reaction is not surprising.
I’m happy for Batista that he is able to do what he always wanted to do, which is just about the only positive thing I can take from this personally.
I also dont like how this can affect games down the line. We could be going on a long road here.
Man I hope the filters are good. If it’s anything like it is in other games however, I probably wont like it.

To answer your thread title. Yes Bautista asked for this.
Listen. Halo has been talking about having a TV show for YEARS (possibly over a decade now) and it still hasn’t happened. Halo has a much larger audience and fanbase than gears and brings in more money for MS. The odds of a gears tv show happening are slim to none. A one off movie is much more likely.

Agreed, but even so, a movie partnership has been on the table for 4 years now with Universal, with next to no new information about the movie coming since then. So I think even a movie is unlikely to come anytime soon.
I don’t really know why people are complaining so much. It’s an option, to be used and enjoyed, or ignored and forgotten about as each player sees fit. Just like bringing weapon and character skins from multiplayer into campaign, or adding mutators.
The only argument that people could make, and even then it’s tenuous, is that focusing on campaign options might be detracting effort and resources away from other areas. But I would assume that the team doing the audio and campaign stuff aren’t the same ones that get involved in map creation, weapon balancing and so on.
So, I say it’s nice to have the options. And my only beef with having Batista as one of those options is I’d rather we got full Batista ie with the obnoxious see-through orange glasses and bald head. Not the bandana wearing variety we appear to get. But, if we can bring in all character skins, then maybe we can bring in Batista’s MP skin to correct that. Let’s see…
