Wakaatu in Horde(Frenzy) - Information/discussion thread

I still haven’t seen it in Horde! It just won’t visit me. I keep getting Swarmak and Matriarchs!

I had to fight one in that event. It was a very long fight but we were able to freeze it so it could finally be taken down.

Inside the house? Cause I only saw the damn thing sit right outside in the entrance hole spitting acid inside for me.

As stated above, the Wakaatu’s only weakpoints are the venom glands. Its head isn’t actually a weakspot and there’s also a small area there where shots won’t seem to do damage to it.

And the Heads Up modifier seems to reduce all non-headshot damage to 5%(if it works the same in Horde as it does in Escape which I presume it does), so it’s not surprising you dealt only a small amount of damage to it at the end.

It is nasty. I’ve yet to pass a wave with this boss because everyone goes like “Oh my god! Shoot it!” when the Wakaatu shows up and then gets downed by it because it goes into the air, or they get shot up by all the little guys and Scions or DR-1s they forgot to clean up. Definitely seems like it weeds out some overzealous boss focusing behaviors and/or teams where there is only 1-2(maybe 3) good players present.

Sure felt like I ran into so many awful or at best average players on Reclaimed doing Master runs. I failed so many throughout the day until me and my friend got a group that didn’t fail on a boss wave or on some other wave inbetween. One run with the Wakaatu on wave 8 where I was stuck in a spot with nothing to shoot and my Gunner’s ult on cooldown while there was a Boomshot Scion and several Drone Elites stuck in the barriers leading into the base that nobody was trying to kill or kept getting downed by because they ignored them too much.

It also reminds me of why I hate Survivor in Horde.

I think the head except the Venom sacs is bulletproof so you have to aim at the body

Update : Cryo Cannon basically instantly freezes the Wakaatu to hold it in place, at least while it’s in the air. On Master, to be clear. Extremely easy to do so long as it’s in range(and/or doesn’t have your aggro). Don’t have testing evidence for when it is on the ground as of yet, but sheesh it didn’t last long when I caught it with the cryo beam. And I wasn’t even using flash freeze.

Torque Bow shots also seem to make the venom glands off way too easily for what I expected they would take to destroy.

This kind of sucks when the “all non headshot damage is drastically reduced” mutator. The mutator doesn’t even work against rejects because for some reason, headshots against them weren’t doing anything. I wonder if it would be more accurate to say “all non critical damage is drastically reduced” - to cover the enemies that don’t have heads, as it were.

The “head” on Reject DBs(not including Stump and Bastion) isn’t actually a weakpoint. The power core/control unit thing in their back that gets exposed by shooting the head of is… but that gets exposed by shooting their “head” that only takes 5% damage off, if you’re not behind one. Simpler to just Retro charge or chainsaw them.

But I think some more thought would have been needed for the Heads Up modifier in Horde. Flocks don’t have any weakpoints at all so they can’t be Retro charged or chainsawed like the melee enemies, and they also don’t get fully frozen when using a Cryo Cannon on them. The Wakaatu at least has the venom glands you can shoot off for damage.

boss is best ignored. it isnt super threatning as long as people spread out. can easilly pop one of its things on its head to make it go away quick. it takes a while to kill so you cant really instaburst it at all.

easily my favorite boss in horde. feels like an actual boss instead of an enemy that just dies to burst and/or isn’t threatening enough. really hope they dont nerf it, as im surprised at the people complaining about it.

I hate this so much as it seems to work with none of the bosses. What’s even the point of all the “stun this for x seconds”-cards if they never work when you need them the most. Wakaatu would be an easy target for Demo if he could stun him, but oh no, that would be too easy then.

Just have someone grab a Cryo, pretty much an instant freeze. The Demo can go to town on it then.

Ya smack dab right in the middle. Until last night we also only had it pop outside the house and shoot in. About the 2nd emerge he popped in and then around the 4th it did it again.

That’s not the point though. The cards says sth along the lines of “every target hit is stunned for 11s” for JD or 4s for Lizzie. Yet there is no disclaimer that it doesn’t work on certain bosses.

Paduks Ult description clearly states that Fear doesn’t affect bosses so how hard could it be to clarify which bosses can be stunned and which can’t for other classes.

Well yeah, can’t argue against that.

Stuns card always work for me. Lizzies Hammer and Clays. I’ve had a few rare instances and one time it was because the card wasn’t equipped!

Matriarch usually doesn’t give a ■■■■, Carrier and Snatcher are 50/50, Wakaatu doesn’t give a ■■■■ and immediately cancels your nonexisting stun and bleed.

Swarmark and Kestrel could be stunned in OP4 indefinitely but I haven’t tested it in a while if that still works.

I know that you must hit from above boss to apply stun. Only swarmak seems to be more vulnerable to stun.

Well, JDs stun should be applied with the Artillery which usually comes from above. And Clays stun applies from every angle, at least on Kestrel/Swarmark.

Swarmak can be stun’d still. Matriarch is stunned after animations finished. If a monster is doing an animation, it won’t be stunned until after the animation(s).

Remember what I said about the Wakaatu killing a Carrier?

Haha,

Had that happen for me as well. Also had a moment where it sent a Snacher flying up in the air to then glitch off the map.

Pretty wild boss man.
