You’re completely missing the point here. I’m not asking for the achievement to be a hand out at all and never stated that. I’m asking TC to make achievements more skill based or obtainable through normal play. 100k is neither of those things and is worth a measly 10g. They are very poorly designed achievements. A better achievement would be “Get 20,000 eliminations in Ranked Versus” or something like that. Not something that requires exploitation to achieve. I have no problem going for tough achievements, but they should be fun or challenging to go for.
I want to express my gratitude to the developers for reconsidering their attitude to getting XP! you at least saved the players from years of torment
BUT achievements in the spirit of 100,000,000 kills in multiplayer 1,000,000,000,000 damage and 1,000,000,000,000,000 help are still there and continue to cause mourning on the faces of caring users.
On behalf of the entire community and achievement hunters, I ask you to reconsider this policy regarding achievements of this kind, and that madman who came up with this absolutely stupid idea to fire the hell out!
You can create achievements to master all horde cards of 12-50 waves on workshop difficulty, you can make an achievement in the spirit of pumping all classes to lvl 20, but creating achievements in the style of killing 100,000,000 … enemies is crazy! and stupid!

The VS achievements were clearly an error in the first place. Dana Sissons said in a developer stream after they first came out that they are expected to take about 3 weeks to complete. Even at 1000 kills a day that’s 3 and a half months of playing for about 4 hours straight EVERY single day. Add in assists at you are maybe adding on another 2 to 3 months. That’s 6 months of 3-4 hours a day EVERY day. Added to that the 100,000 kills with a gnasher will only get 6,000,000 damage assuming you do max damage on every kill which of course you won’t unless you are playing against idle controllers. That being the case you will still be 40,000 kills or more away getting the damage achievements. Appreciate the assists will contribute to damage total but to get all vs achievements done its going to be in the region of 8 months playing 3-4 hours per day EVERY day. Granted that will be quicker against idle controllers but TC bring out achievements to obtain by playing the game legit not by killing idle players. But hey TC expect them all to be complete in 3 weeks. Their calculation has just been way off on this. Someone literally can’t count and has likely added an extra zero onto the required numbers.
Now thing is the BFF and re-ups didn’t change the achievement requirements they just changed the in game mechanics to make them more obtainable (probably too much). Problem is, for these VS achievements 100,000 kills is still 100,000 kills. That can’t be changed which the Castle of No Escape games found out when changing achievement requirements was seen as a breach of terms and conditions by Microsoft. So what’s the solution? Well given the re-ups are super quick now there really doesn’t seem any point in 2x or 3x or 4x XP events. So why not replace these with kills, assists and damage in vs count double or triple events. That way requirements stay the same but in game mechanics make them easier to obtain.
TC really need to take a look at this. It clearly hasn’t been their intention to for these to take that long and someone needs to man (or woman) up and admit that and do something about it.
Finally I know full well someome is going to say 1000 kills taking 3-4 hours must make me a n00b and they can get treble that but realistically even in a game of KOTH taking about half an hour 100-120 kills is about the most I’ve seen. That’s 200-240 an hour so maybe even 4 hours for 1000 is being very optimistic. I might be a bit off but at least I’ve put some thought into the numbers and calculations which seems exactly what TC has failed to do.
I love they are pointing at us if we from TA are exploiters…
These achievements should be cut with atleast 80% in 12k Annex matches on Gears 2 I had only raked in 80-90k kills this was me playing as a teen annex only for 3 years straight.

Complete all tour medals excluding events (referring to all Onyx medals from 3)
But damage is where its really at…
At a kill given at full gib only give you a mere 600 damage you can see the issues surfacing
So realisticly it would take a bare minimum 333.333 kills at full gib for this achievement which is insane if you ask me
God forbid them ever conveiving such dumb achievements.
Its more that if you own these achievements you passed the test to apply for an insane assylum
That is actually one hell of a sentence that matches pretty well. One can grind it (either with a friend with 3 additional controllers) or by having 2 xboxes with two accounts and 8 total controllers. But it still takes like 60 hours or something if I’m not mistaken and afaik the method used was even patched partially (which is seriously stupid to patch such a thing…). In addition to that on PC you can’t even splitscreen into Private Versus for whatever reason… playing on my old Xbox is just so terrible for me with this terrible quality and frame-drops.
TC changed the achievement requirements for Rank and File in Gears 4. Not some in-game metrics while leaving the achievement the same. They changed the actual requirements.
At first, you had to earn a rank in each core and competitive mode. It was later updated to be a rank in one core and one competitive mode.
I think the point made for the change was the EU playerbase making it more difficult for them to find matches in all ranked modes or something like that. So it seems changes are allowed if there’s something not allowing those achievements to be completed.
I’ve never heard that explanation for the change, but it would make sense.
By that logic, there won’t be any changes to the versus achievements, because you can unlock them in private custom, meaning there is no barrier for anyone.
I only vaguely remember something like that being stated for the reason of the change. Could look it up but I don’t think the news from Gears 4 are still up and around.
I don’t believe xbox achievements can be altered once they are published.
You can only have 3 people playing Gears at the same time on one console. You need a least 3 systems to get 8 players into a game.
Happened plenty of times already. Either the requirements for the achievement itself or ingame were altered in several games already. Shadow of Mordor recently recieved a final update because the leaderboards going offline would have voided 3 cheevos which are now obtainable again without direct changes to the cheevos themselves.
Blitz with double skulls was an event a while ago, something like each kill/assist is worth 100

Oooooh. Not to take this thread off-topic but that’s a great game, had a lot of fun on that.
It also says a lot about how TC have handled their achievements in their respective games compared to other studios.
I know its WBGames and the studio hasn’t released a game in nearly 4 years, and it’s a single player game, but they could have quite easily have just left it with fairly minimal negative press.
This isn’t true, Dirt 5 recently released a patch changing the requirements of driving 10,000 miles to 1000. This means these kill achievements can be given the same treatment.
I wish they had gone for complete 100 masters horde, complete 100 masters escape runs. Win xxx versus matches in non co-op ai matches.25k kills or eliminations would probably be enough.
Don’t listen to this guy. Some people who A) don’t care about achievements at all or B) have an infinite amount of time to unlock these horribly designed achievements will never be convinced that the requirements should be lowered.
Some who fall under B are concerned with being in an “elite” few to unlock such terrible achievements. God forbid anyone asks for a reduction in a 200 hour pure grind(1000+ of hours just playing normal).

Same for some random skating-game that thought 72k miles on a skateboard would be a smart idea. Someone did the math and it would have taken 700hours of idle-grinding before the devs fixed it.
100 Horde sounds about right, but Escape should be way higher.
I think if anything, it should be to master each horde and escape map. I don’t see the point of having to complete 100 master horde games. If you can do it once, you can do it 100 times. But at what point, does that just become overkill?
It would fit right in with these stupid Versus-achievements, albeit still far more reasonable.
I would still take a master every Horde/Hive-achievement. Don’t understand why TC is so afraid of them.
