Update re Matriarch in Horde - how to beat her, easy

Hey,

There is another thread re this, but I was the last poster, so it won’t let me post again, and I want to update, so I’m starting a new one, sorry : )

We had two Matriarchs last night, on All Fathers’ and yes, guys - the cryo cannon works INCREDIBLY WELL! You just freeze her, and everyone (especially JD) just unload into her while she’s frozen… We kept freezing her while she was in our base, and we killed her, and we never lost any fortifications…

So definitely keep 2-3 cryo cannons in lockers, for boss waves, in case you get her… This really changes her ‘difficulty level’, she’s not a problem at all…

Hey, do we know, can you freeze a snatcher too, with the cryo cannon? If so, that puts the cryo in a completely new light, for me, re its usefulness in Horde…

It freezes everything except swarmak I think.
So does the icy water on ice bound.
Get better. That and grenades… lots of grenades. Even for wardens after their helmets are off

Bonus tip : If the Matriarch(or almost any other enemy) is at low health and you have a Lizzie with Cold Finish, she’ll freeze them pretty much instantly, even bosses. Even if you don’t do any damage to a low health Warden or Matriarch as her they get frozen if shot… which I do not understand but have no issue with, even if it is contrary to the description of the skill.

Huh, I never paid attention to the Warden’s health cycle, so they start with a helmet, at one point you knock that off, and after THAT point you can freeze them? Is that what you’re saying the situation is? Thanks…

Once or twice, I tried previous games but I found all that fast movement and wall bouncing to be really intimidating , so I’m starting to really enjoy the much slower pace of Gears 5… I have some existing forum members helping me, like @D_A_N_III_3_L and @o_GH0UL_o, so maybe you can join that list too :slight_smile:

Yes cryo cannons work well on matriarch. The problem is getting that close to make use of them. Either she is inside the base(destroying a lot of your ■■■■) or you have to go out to her. On masters, drones with claws will make option B literally impossible.

If JD doesn’t GL her to death I find it’s best to try to kill everything else. Move the important fortifications to a red spot so she doesn’t destroy them. Then freeze her.

Look in the mirror. Omen has obviously played the game. You’re the first person ever, and I mean it, to mention that Wardens take more grenade damage if their helmet is off, on these forums. Yet you act like it is some easy to notice and basic mechanic when it isn’t… and you barely find any grenades in Horde to begin with, if you’re not gonna get them from the fabricator.

Yeah finding them in the fabricator IS hard to do, from the plethora of items you can buy…

Aside from jack I haven’t played anyone who can’t buy grenades in some form or another… must be your fabricator that’s broken.
