Hello everyone. My name is Francis or some of u may know me as Franc the Tank. DST is a cancer on society. My great province of Ontario might surrender to the DST terror as Bill 214 in provincial legislative assembly looks likely to pass. Bill 214 will make DST permanent in Ontario. I know this is cliche’ but if anybody out there is a resident of Ontario then please write to your member of provincial parliament and ask for bill 214 to die. That is what I did, my representative unfortunately did not respond so I think my representative has political inertia on the topic of DST. Political inertia prevents progress from occurring. Death to DST

Are we talking about a movie I hear has that name or the star’s name some people pronounce as “Beetlejuice” when it’s spelled “Betelgeuse”(something like that)?

Hey Ghost of Delta. Thanks for including that insightful clip in the forum and also (in hindsight) I appreciate being tagged on this forum by Hawkeye. I did not realize this whole forum thing on the internets can actually be kind of fun. It’s true that Netherlands is in the wrong timezone. It’s the same timezone as Germany but Netherlands should be the same timezone as Britain if you look at it’s longitude. Is there are any dutch people in this forum? If so then I would love to hear what dutch people think about their own terrible timezone. And as always…death to DST

What a story.
How can I ever repay the people who created it?
What is weird is that my entire state (Alaska) is around 2700 miles (4350km) or so from the west coast to the Canadian border and it has just one time zone while Australia is roughly 2500 miles (4025km) from coast to coast and has 3 time zones. I guess having 8 time zones in the U.S instead of 5 would be too much.

Hello Snakey Wakey. That’s an interesting fact that I didn’t consider. A single timezone is quite a stretch of Alaska. I think that the Alaska Panhandle should be UTC-9 while the rest of Alaska should be UTC-10. So basically Juneau should be one hour ahead of Anchorage. But that’s just like my opinion, man. [Big Lebowski reference]
