Might be a server side quirk then. Either way, wish this event had its own tailored modifier list to use.
I think it would’ve been fine if all they did was not force Survivor. Bad enough it’s pub matchmaking only, but not allowing people to restart when a failure in this mode is very likely with how many bosses are thrown at you is just stupid.
Well I guess we have to agree to disagree about sheltering people in a M rated game.
But I do like the idea of an indicator, I wouldn’t even outright kick them but I could ask if they have text chat off intentionally or simply didn’t know.
I always found it funny that public matchmaking games, which are the most random, start out with the worst/hardest modificators in advanced.
Listen guys, you have to stop blaming the people being harassed for the chat change. It’s the players that write the rude and abusive messages that are to blame, not the “whiny crybabies” who saw the messages. This shouldn’t have to be pointed out. And for those of you who are part of the problem and have been writing such messages: you need to realize you’re part of the problem. It’s your behavior that’s the problem, not other people’s reactions to it.
To TC: the option needs to default to on. Communication is too vital to the PvE modes to bury such a useful tool at the bottom of the options menu where a huge proportion of players will never bother to go.
That depends really, the bar for “Toxic” is on an all time low. Can’t even compare to 15 or even 10 years ago.
But aside that I agree with it needing to be on, no problem with someone turning chat off if he doesn’t want to see it.
And I’d bet 95% of it happens in PVP, PVP always brought out the worst in people, PVE seldomly does.
Emotions just get much higher against people, even happens in professional sports, just in different ways
If they could split the option so PvE and PvP can be toggled separately, that’d be much better, then they could have PvP default to off while PvE defaults to on.
Why they don’t instantly put event modes into custom lobbies I don’t understand. But I do prefer Survivor in that mode. I just like the mess that’s going down in that mode.
The real only issue is being forced to play with some braindead people that think they can do a boss rush on Incon with they’re underleveled characters and unsuitable characters without the option to kick them in the lobby or something. You always have to quit the matchmaking and search again.
Demos obviously are strong. They’ve always been the greatest bosskillers. But so are Tacticians, especially when their Ultimate is running. Not having either of those…? Hmm… could only imagine some combo of Infiltrators, maybe Gunner (mainly for freezing) and Marksman? (To get rid of the little ones)
I was playing with 2 Demos, 1 Tac, 1 Gunner and me as Marksman on Pahanu three times and we still failed on wave 10 twice and once on wave 9. The Wakaatu is basically the only issue there paired with the small guys that eventually reach the base on these later waves.
In other words three strong classes and it can still become quite the mess.
But I like it.
I didn’t get Pahanu in the first match, instead it was Forge and people insisted we drag the fabricator to the control room which I don’t prefer as a space because bosses get inside anyway except Kestrel and Wakaatu that will mostly shoot inside, which likely contributed to it being a bore, but I hardly found it fun having a Demo do practically nothing more than be dropping artillery strikes on them basically every wave.
I had chosen to play Gunner because I didn’t feel like doing Demo which I find to be nothing short of a boring role, regardless of what state TC has had the class in, and Tactician isn’t my biggest interest either. Sure worked but I had also completely forgotten that I had Flash Freeze on so I was mostly shooting/stunning things with the Torque Bow and killing the occasional Kestrel with the ult.
And we only made it to wave 8 where many more bosses started spawning in because the Matriarch is stupid and has magic location skills through several walls to a player standing behind a wall not even directly shooting at it, so the cause of failure was the Demo pushing buttons in the middle of the base from almost complete safety(yay for “engaging and fun gameplay”) and attracting the grumpiest of Berserkers.
I guess the mode really CAN be fun and playing my close to maxed demo the first waves were fun (on incon), but it sucks that you really can’t carry the entire match on your own, since you have to rely on your team to keep drones and juvies off of you so you can get a decent shot and keep ammo for the bosses. So if you’re team can communicate and is overall capable, but trying to play this with level 10-15 randoms really isn’t what I would call fun, which is why I just gave up and did the medals on beginner as Infiltrator.
Yea wave 7 is where it starts to become messy incredibly fast. I haven’t played Forge yet so I can hardly judge it. Kestrels are usually not a problem even if you get 4 of them in a row (like on our run on Harbor lol). If the Wakaatu spawns instantly (like on Pahanu) a Gunner with Flash Freeze really comes in handy simply to slow down its movement until the other enemies are being dealt with.
Boss Rush really shows how broken the Wakaatu can be…
- Ridiculous health
- Plenty of times it is invulnerable
- Crit spots being pointless
- Instant-teleport/burry when frozen on the ground
- Quickly being frozen even without Flash Freeze
- Shooting through walls
- etc.
Due to its ridiculous health, it’s almost pointless focusing on it first.
I don’t like playing Demo either, just not my type. Tac is relatively similar. I prefer sniping so Marksman it is.
While I can’t do much against bosses, I can deal with all the small guys lurking around.
I got nearly all the Medals done on Beginner Foundation as Demo. It seemed fastest way, as well as marking 3-4 bosses with Snub on your own. Team mates’ marks would have been bonus. The other three players were taking ammo boxes which made things harder, but fortunately Demo had Level 10 Ammo Regen perk for that,
Thank the heavens,
I needed this as the game is only rated 18 / M for Mature,
Some adults can be really mean online!
Feeling so safe & happy
Marksman actually seems like a pretty good choice for this mode since you don’t need crazy amounts of ammo , we also had a high-level marksman in our first match, the class just bcomes mostly pointless if the player can’t aim, which seems rather common with marksman players
Failed wave 8 District on Incon on our first try. Exhibit on Incon next was a success due to no Kestral. Every one got their medals done from those two games.
Never again as I don’t see any fun in this.
The rewards being sh*t certainly doesn’t help either
Thank you!
Marksman’s DPS against bosses aren’t particularly great though? It can take out Warden through walls just fine, but then it doesn’t do enough damage with either Markza or Longshot. So all it has going for it, is Icy Precision on bosses?
Why do you think they can’t aim? Because of all the nuking going on around you.
The Wakaatu spawning nearby doesn’t make it any better too.
I learned to get rid of playing with the Longshot (or modified Longshot so to speak) and instead focus with the Markza and add Steady Hand into the build. Especially when enemies get close it’s just way better to quickly freeze them with three shots to stop them in place. Steady Hand really helps maintaining your accuracy. I only swap to the Longshot if enemies are really far away or if I’m running my Ultimate. The ammo boxes are usually enough to live with until a third locker is coming up (we usually only get three lockers out and that’s it).
EDIT: Even just freezing anearby Snatcher helps the team so it doesn’t run in and stomp everybody. The tripple damage applied to frozen enemies also gets rid of them quicker. Freezing is just a nice overall support for the team.
Are you sure Steady Hand is working? Last time I tried, it didn’t stop team mates’ explosions rocking the screen. I am not sure about Wakaatu’s ground earthquakes. I would have to test it, or may have been stealth fixed.
