your solution suits well for 7 years old children “oh honey if someone said to you something bad cover your ears, don’ t talk to them, shut your eyes honeey” do pplayers here look like 7 years old Child to you ?? Tell me please how the hell I contact with my teammates now ? What if She or he doesnot use headset, doesnot able the chatbox? HOW??? you are talking about harrassment did you guys compare the percentages of people Who uses chatbox for teamwork or swore at each other ? If so please enlighten us with your findings… the decision for able/ disable thing for chatbox only sounds a really really bad joke to me
You only get the 3000 coins one time if you made all 5 medals.
That’s the same like all other medal groups.
So the cry babys won again with the no typing in game, yall are just babies i swear cant take any smack talk now a days.
Well, IF i was to take a guess…
TC is very highly focused on giving new players a good experience (dumbing down the game, movement, etc, giving them their "6 kills per game, " etc). We know how toxic Gears players can be and we know TC matchmaking throws bronzes in with diamonds…
So by turing it off TC protects new players’ delicate egos and sensitivites from being called noob, or worse…
All about attracting and keeping new players, remember that: then it all becomes clear
Omen you said it perfectly DUMBING down xD. Love the game but man they love taking things away. i cant even communicate to my friends on the enemy team xD
Actually TC didn’t remove the in-game text chat at all.
They only added an option to enable and disable the text chat.
So @Kefla_Ascends you can still speak with friends if you and them have the text chat enabled but only people who have it enabled will see what was said.
People who have it disabled won’t see anything.
So we can’t even effectively communicate anymore due to spineless brats that can’t take petty middle school level insults.
Amazing, TC catering to the wrong group of people as usual.
In the past toxic kicking without giving warning was discouraged.
Now if a person doesn’t know that they should let the engineer build then they definitely don’t know how to enable game chat so they’re going to have to feel unwanted and slighted.
I hope the next step doesn’t become eliminate kicking the people we can’t advise.
That would add awfulness to awfulness
While I find this change to be completely unnecessary, I find this idea that people who like to be nasty to others over the internet have spines, to be very strange.
I don’t think any changes were needed. It’s easy enough to block people as it was which prevents all Comms - invites, mic communication, ingame text messages etc. It does smack of assuming everyone is a ■■■■■ in the first instance, when the right thing to do is to assume they are not.
I can’t remember if ingame text chat was optional, but if it was added as an option just leave it on as default so people can turn it off if they want. Even then it strikes me as weird because some people who use it in a nice way and turning it off is a blanket thing. Better to just block people who are abusive.
Nah, I don’t think nasty people have spines either. I’m just saying that randomly turning off text chat over petty insults is pretty unnecessary, like you said they could just block them after the match.
Players keep spamming Private Casan’s laughing emote.
I consider that to be a form of harassment.
I still see threads being created about this in forums, complaining that text chat does not work.
When you boot-up the game, the first thing that pops up is the news.
I mean, its right there in their faces and they somehow just skip it, and blame TC for this.
Literally takes 5-10 seconds to read it.
Assuming they even skip this, it shows up as an yellow exclamation mark on news tab of the menu screen, to serve as a reminder that something has been updated.
Everyone is in a rush. Very sad.
Very true.
When I made the post, there was no news article that was in-game that explained this. Now that has been fixed, I have adjusted my statement, but my post was correct at the time of posting, there was no in-game notification at the time. That may be why you see posts about it.
That’s perfectly understandable. Not everyone reads the TWIG, so there is good cause to question.
What I am saying is, even after the in-game notification about this, there are still people complaining about this.
The topics about this are not so frequent as before, but you can still see people complaining about this issue in random threads.
See, this statement I made earlier, corresponds to player not reading at all in spite of the in-game notification in place.
Constructive Idea to the chat thing. Can it be made into 2 settings, one for PVP one for PVE.
Honestly I don’t see much toxicity there, people just leave.
Have PVE default on and PVP default off. For pvp you’re better of to use another chat if you’re teamed.
In Pve it is nice to have a little bit of coordination, Locker please, Right, Left. Weapon switches. Simple things where there is no Mic needed but it’s helpful.
And I guess I will have to put in my lobby descriptions now to please turn on text chat. Even just for reading.
See I still don’t see the toxic part, I know I’m old but compared to other games, the toxicity is rather kindergarden level.
Waves at WOW, LOL, QUAKE, COD2 Etc… Oh boy ultima online.
The problem actually it’s default off. If it was default on it would be no problem.
It’s an Opt in were it should be an opt out.
If by thought you mean Clayton with a cryo build. Yes.
I haven’t even played it yet, but imma cheese the ■■■■ out of it lmao. Seems like it’d be too easy
Thats the point…
The vast majority of people dont know there is an option, they wont know to turn it on, you basically this, effectively, means you lost your ability to communicate with your (random) team mates…
Yes, YOU can turn it on FOR YOU: that wont make your random teammates see it…
They cut off the communication and put the onus on players to reenable it. And we know most wont know/bother…
WoW still has that toxicity, especially if you play Ranked 10v10 at a high level. Some things never change.
