I’ve had the Niles lancer and gnasher for almost a year. Guess I need to keep waiting for the rest of the set.
In the past, product manufacturers would implement forums relevant to their product and people who owned that product could share knowledge. These forums were referred to as “communities” and they were specific to the product that they were dedicated to.
To join the forum under the gears of war namespace then you at least need a microslop account.
You could call Twitter a community too but it’s a global community that is in no way owned or controlled by TC or even Microsoft. There surely are twitter users in the global community that are also part of the subset of that community which is the gears of war one but that is not necessary.
Can TC limit twitter users to ones that actually play gears of war or can Play Station troll boys on Twitter pull forces and vote us in the crappiest choices possible?
They do ban toxic forum members from here but they can’t ban trolls from twitter and those guys could go nuts applying votes that subvert your and my choices.
I seriously do not know why TC doesn’t have a most robust web presence that it wrote. Software companies should know how to make a web site and define and regulate useful input from verified users. To that end… in game is honestly a much more secure venue than anywhere else. I get the impression that they’re too lazy or greedy to write web code and I’d like them to feel teased that going lazy and giving the whole world access to OUR choices. It should be embarrassing. If they can write a game then they can write an aspx. I don’t want them to be embarrased because I’m mean or full of hate either - I’d like them to use that embarrasment to feel motivated to showcase their coding skills and design prowess as opposed to submitting to Twitters instead.
Ah, okay I accept your point that twitter polls can be hijacked by trolls or anyone for that matter. I’m not sure how many trolls would be following the official Gears of War account for the lulz though but your point still stands, the results may not accurately represent the real playerbase.
This is so true. Even these forums feel under utilized. If not a web presence then why not even handle the community in game? Surely the news section could be expanded upon to handle votes and user interaction of some kind.
All that being said, I can’t exactly say I’m thrilled about being offered poop. It feels like TC are just laughing at us.

I agree with your uncertainty about how many trolls are going to subvert these polls but the chance does exist and it exists because they made a choice that allows it to.
I can’t know whether they outright thought of it and decided the risk unlikely or whether they just jumped to do this on impulse. There is a little bit of evidence over a year after launch that thinking things through may not be TC’s strongest feature.
My main goal for ragging on them letting Twitter code their voting was to try and encourage them to have a game programmers web presence instead of just handing somebody with strong writing skills a CMS and stopping there.
I’m probably too negative these days and I should maybe re-adjust; But seriously - I write software and if I get my own company off the ground then my web site will not only be what my best editorial writer puts in a CMS it will be functional and it will show off my skills and creativity.
I was (at one point) really interested in pulling forces with @Hu1k_Daddy to build a wiki with smoothly organized game data but… I think we’re both starting to lose interest and if TC took their own game seriously enough then they could easily publish that data right here and they would be able to know much faster things like how much damage a Claw does, etc.

I was 100 % on board with you. However all that went to pot when we saw the upcoming changes and the overall uncertainty of the game after the update.
You and I both love Gears and I consider you a good friend. There are a few here that I feel strongly for such as @D_A_N_III_3_L @GhostofDelta2 @Bleeding_Pepper @FirestormOfFear to name a few.
My point is, there are too few good people in Gears and too many toxic ones. So as you stated to have a poll where any joe smoe can vote is going to give some weird winning bids.
But in conclusion, I truly miss playing with my bro’s but I just can’t play a game that I know is just in the wind of being completely changed. I really wish I didn’t get to play with the update before it was pulled, as I may feel differently than I do now.

The best way to describe it is that of a child. Let’s say that child was given carrots his whole life and was told it was chocolate. But then one day he is given real chocolate. And just hours later he has his real chocolate removed from him only to be given back a carrot.
Does that make since? As that is pretty much how I feel.
Anyway, that’s the only way I can figure to describe it.

camers shake was one of the best parts of olde gears titles. Made it harder and more immersive hate that it’s out of pvp now.
