Baird builds a map

This Week In Gears 5 is our quick-fire Monday update to fill you in on everything happening in-game for Gears 5 over the next week!

Here’s what’s coming up for the week of February 18th – 25th:

Our first hotfix Title Update is confirmed for arrival on Tuesday, February 18th at ~ 10am PT. Here’s a full list of the update notes for TU 4.1:

  • Players can no longer gain the momentum-based speed boost after using melee
  • Updated the Gnasher weapon switching animation to be in a fire-ready state 4 frames earlier. Shots previously fired in this 4 frame window would be drawn from the left shoulder, causing the shot to land wide in rare circumstances.
  • Fixed an issue that caused enemy AI in Horde and Escape to kill DBNO players faster than intended
  • Fixed an issue that could cause players to be in a broken state after being rescued from an AI struggle

  • Lizzie’s Ultimate Ability will no longer cause disconnects or crashes from the game under certain conditions
  • Lizzie’s Explosive Munitions Skill Card will correctly cause splash damage when killing enemies in defense mode
  • Baird’s Bloody Support Skill Card no longer applies to enemies taking damage from barriers

  • Addressed sporadic hitching occurring in menus, map builder and joining custom games

We have another hotfix, TU 4.2, in the works . As we get closer to the date, we’ll give you more info and what to expect.

All Gnashers, all the time. Throw yourself into Gnasher paradise as you fight to control King hills with nothing but your strafe and your shot (just don’t forget the objective).

In the depths of The Warren, poison Juvies are out and electrifying ones are in! Keep your distance – melee is not your friend against these Juvies.

Our last Versus Event Tour Medal is about to drop and it’s one that speaks to the heart of many a Gears gamer.

Drop 25 kills with the Gnasher in a Versus Weekly Event playlist and 3 easy Stars are all yours.

  • Pixel Omen Assault Weapon Skin Set – 500 Iron
  • Pixel Omen Sniper Weapon Skin Set – 500 Iron
  • Brain Power Bloodspray – 100 Iron
  • Swarm Emblem Pixel Art Banner -100 Iron
  • Battle Star Mark – 50 Iron

Does hotfix TU 4.2 give us back our missing scrap from trying to upgrade the cold finish card?

TC Octus said they’re fixing it

Operation 1 Bundle? What an odd thing to sell at this point.

Guessing they will have one for each operation.
They will probably remain in the store.

OP could be updated with this very small piece of information on the new hive :

In the depths of The Warren, poison Juvies are out and electrifying ones are in! Keep your distance – melee is not your friend against these Juvies.”

So yeah… yay for Shock Chain Juvies.

Iron needs to go on sale again soon.

There’s an eSports event in the first weekend of March, so maybe around then?

So, are they just going to leave the rest of the weapons in a garbage state?

Any love for these weapons or are we going to continue to buff the gnasher directly and indirectly (increased movement speed) every TU.

Can TC publish internal data on how each weapon is performing?

Honestly it’s fine as is and I think it’s an underrated weapon. I pick it up every round in Allfathers and down everyone for days resulting in the enemy picking it up shortly after they see my results. It’s all about managing the recoil.

Talon= fine, utilize the burst fire a bit more, you might have a bit more success. Should be a loadout weapon, though. Either that, or slightly lower the recoil, similar to the Gorgon SMG.

Lancer= Also fine, didn’t people complain about the Lancer being OP? Some still do, I think.

Markza= Ehhh, yeah, I kinda agree. Kinda hard to get kills with in PvP, outside of Arms Race.

Hammerburst= It crushes, tbh. I like it a lot, just wish it was an actual loadout option. Since it’s literally only usable on like 2 maps.

I’m aware how to use it. The problem is it’s effective range is within gnasher range and there is the high chance of getting one shotted. It’s safer to just use the gnasher.

Lancer damage falloff makes it a bad weapon at range and at risk of getting one shotted when closer. Movement speed buff and decrease time to fire when running, the recent nerfs to melee all help gnashes user get closer. I litterally get more kills by switching to the gnasher after tickling them with my lancer until they get close enough.

If the lancer was op than people would be using it more. Not evening switching to shotgun when the round starts. I want to see TC data on this.

Oh WoW! Great! This week’s new character skin is the best! Thanks!

Lancer in Horde is pretty weak. :disappointed:

To be fair, the new mark and bloodspray are really nice.

I mostly care about skins. :upside_down_face:

And a Lizzie crashed today’s horde at wave 40.
