This could be our last Gears of Wars

I am not fond of the new versus achievements and feel that they were implemented incorrectly as frankly I feel those numbers are just way to high for a single game mode. Even Gears 2 - Seriously 2.0 started as 100K kills in versus only but was then updated to include all modes.

I think TC should have released the high values versions (100K kills, 50K assists, 100M damage) of these achievements to track across all modes, with the low value versions (25K kills, 12.5K assists, 30M damage) being Versus only achievements.

Personally I hate ranked, I’m not that great of a player, but in Gears 4 I at least made it to Gold tier, in Gears 5 I can’t seem to get out of Bronze. In 5, I never feel like I am playing with/against people in my Tier, I always felt I was playing against Diamond/Master Tier players as myself and the team I was out was repeatedly steamrolled over and over. I haven’t tried playing ranked since OP2, so I hope OP4 finally fixed the matchmaking.

i dont care one bit about Achievements , i play these games to be entertained ,have some fun with friends and blow off some steam ,let me give you some advice , never worry about gamer score it will drive you mad,just play to play

I totally agree with TS.

Play what you want and how you want. Simple.

As for the Achievements, they are definitley excessive, almost seems like the ‘Seriously’ Achievements have no meaning when you compare grinds like these (similar for ‘Classy!’).

It would make sense if these covered all 3 modes, maybe even campaign if we compare this to GoW 2. But lets be honest, TC are desperate to keep us on PvP. It’s so obvious.

I came in this thread, thinking it was about Gears 5 being the last game ever.

There will probably be a Gears 6, but after it flops, that will be it.

Hello gears community and hopefully developers. The reason why this game is failing is not due to its lack of player base it’s not due to its lack of content or it isn’t simply the fact that there isn’t basis for a good story to continue on.

Instead of tuning everything to the new age micro transactions and adjusting all the playlist to favorite constant boost to level of to rehabs that we will never reach or characters to achieve that we can never get yes I understand the new operation for has recently come out and it’s giving you the opportunity for why so late lighted it take us and everyone else in the gears community to practically give up on the game.

I and I’m sure many of my fellow gamers would love if you can consider the opinion of the community as also taking a look back at with the original developer’s idea for this game was even a voting for on what should be instead of trying to tune it with Beta playlists that nobody wants to play taking out game top so we all miss or adding game types that we don’t like it’s annoying and getting old. I played gears of war since day one of gears or 1 and its gears 5 and it’s fallen hard

The dom splash does put me off, but not as much as you saying your group of 5 had completed all achievements from all games, but want them to change it from vs for kills… you apparently never completed gears 1 achievements, or any really. EVERY gears game has had crazy online only achievements. Period

Theyre called achievements, and not gimmes for a reason…

As an achievement hunter myself, who believes that TC ( and Epic before them) also takes Gears Of War achievements very seriously, here’s my take -

I do agree with the 100,000 versus kills / damage / assist achievements being unnecessarily high and should probably be modified (ideally 25K kills, 12.5K assists, 30 million damage should be the max for versus).

However, in terms of achievements, we need to keep in mind that we will only truly able to complete this game once the final achievement drop hits, possibly only in 2 years from now, so there is nothing wrong with having ‘long’ retroactive / cumulative achievements which are meant to be worked on slowly over time (such as re-upping 40 times, or hypothetically completing 1000 horde waves, which would still be realistically able to attain in time for the final achievement drop (hopefully we don’t get a Re-up 50 times achievement, which would be overkill imo).

As long as TC don’t overcompensate and nerf all subsequent achievements going forward, and just bloat the list with generic ‘50GS - Finish a versus match with more kills than deaths’ type stuff.

I still believe the game needs an achievement for mastering all Year 1 / Year 2 escape hives and horde maps, for example (either as part of a Seriously 5.0 - Chapter 2 or whatnot), given that many players (including myself) worked pretty hard to master all of post-launch hives / maps thus far in preparation for an achievement like this. I’m sure some people would agree with me, and some others would think that this would be too time consuming and unrealistic.

Bottom line, achievements are effectively your personal ‘digital footprint’ on a given game , they should be difficult, but realistic. It’s all about balance : )

Apparently people didn’t like the skins being locked to modes, I do recall VS players being annoyed that the Arid Gale skins were locked to Escape leaderboards, I’m not sure about ranked rewards though. Then again, the ranked rewards were in Gears 4, and people didn’t mind.

Like I said, it was a showcase of skill. What made those skins desirable was that they were cool and rare. If everyone had the skins they would be devalued.

At this point adding more grindy achievements will likely only annoy players, its likely to discourage people playing rather than encourage them.

My friend wanted to get all the achievements in this game, but just conceded defeat when these came out. He will still play, but not anywhere near as much as he probably would have done if the grind was more, reasonable, lets say.

Encouraging players to play skill-based achievements, similar to Gears 4 with the School of '08 achievement, is likely to open more players to this sort of thing. It may encourage more diverse custom lobbies, more challenge lobbies.

Because at the moment, Escape lobbies mainly consist of The Surge, The Descent, The Clock, The Malfunction. Horde lobbies will sink back into Forge central in the next few weeks once people have tried the new maps.

On the developer stream from last thursday, Dana stated that there would be more reups coming. Potentially making more reup achievements.

It sounds like you just want achievements which match the way you like to play. I already have the 100k achievement and I’m very close to the 100m damage and 50k assists yet I’m “only” re-up 17. I’d never get to re-up 40 just from playing versus.

I agree with the Don splash screen.

Why not go with something like this?

Well just ignore the RIP part but it at least feels like Gears.
