Apparently people didn’t like the skins being locked to modes, I do recall VS players being annoyed that the Arid Gale skins were locked to Escape leaderboards, I’m not sure about ranked rewards though. Then again, the ranked rewards were in Gears 4, and people didn’t mind.

Like I said, it was a showcase of skill. What made those skins desirable was that they were cool and rare. If everyone had the skins they would be devalued.

At this point adding more grindy achievements will likely only annoy players, its likely to discourage people playing rather than encourage them.

My friend wanted to get all the achievements in this game, but just conceded defeat when these came out. He will still play, but not anywhere near as much as he probably would have done if the grind was more, reasonable, lets say.

Encouraging players to play skill-based achievements, similar to Gears 4 with the School of '08 achievement, is likely to open more players to this sort of thing. It may encourage more diverse custom lobbies, more challenge lobbies.

Because at the moment, Escape lobbies mainly consist of The Surge, The Descent, The Clock, The Malfunction. Horde lobbies will sink back into Forge central in the next few weeks once people have tried the new maps.

On the developer stream from last thursday, Dana stated that there would be more reups coming. Potentially making more reup achievements.

It sounds like you just want achievements which match the way you like to play. I already have the 100k achievement and I’m very close to the 100m damage and 50k assists yet I’m “only” re-up 17. I’d never get to re-up 40 just from playing versus.

Exactly, TC changed the system because VS players complained about the Escape rewards. That’s what I said. And as I said before, if a VS player wanted those skins they should have got busy in Escape. It’s the same if I wanted the Onyx or Master weapon ski rewards from ranked, if I wanted those I need to rank up in VS. I liked those being locked into categories because it showed skill. Now we just get more GC for each category we finish.

But as I’ve said in other posts long ago, I still prefer unlocking things via gameplay. You want Myrrah? Beat the campaign on Inconceivable (just an example). Want this skin? Master 50 waves of Horde or earn your first rank in VS. That would actually encourage players to try different game modes. I still remember a VS player who joined our Horde game 2 years after Gears 4 was released to get one of the achievements. Dude kept bragging about how he was a Diamond level player, but come wave 8 he was asking ‘What’s that spikey cat thing?’. He’d never touched the campaign in his entire time playing.

And I agree, more grindy achievements will just annoy people at this point. And you’re slightly off about Horde. I think it’ll become split between Forge and Blooddrive and not much else.

Playing pretty much nothing but KOTH since the game released = 120k kills. Probably 2/3 or 3/4 in ranked, the rest in social quickplay. Good luck Ron. You should really pray for a map with a turret in op5 like War Machine.

I like the new guardian actually. Better than the old. When it comes back to rank im gonna get on it. Only if TC doesn’t do some stupid A** S*** like keep F****** with Tuning and Movement I just want some dam consistency.

I agree with you though, I regularly play all the game modes, and I think it’s part of the experience. I kno of people as well who only play pvp & only use gnashers. They’ve never finished campaign, never done an escape, it’s embarrassing. But then, they also don’t care about skins or achievements😅 so there’s that.

In addition, I just got the (insert whatever amount) assists pvp kills achievement yesterday. I haven’t looked at my progress for the others, but I feel like it’s attainable over time. Just not in a few weeks time. Maybe a couple months? :man_shrugging:t4:

Lol, yea. And that was a direct quote of what he called it. The thing was, it wouldn’t have been so bad had he not also claimed to have beaten the campaign. It was pretty easy to call BS on him then.

Really? I’ve see the double boost weekends, never the x4.

I’d actually be willing to spend cash on a x4 boost tho, that team ice weapon skin is calling my name :cry:

They need to go back to weapon skins as rewards for Escape. VS players complaining about this is just stupid. They get their own skins and PvE never complained

My gt is MiKeloGames and I’m one of the 5 guys who wrote this letter to the developers. I want to add my personal opinion.

First of all, the intention of this letter was not our passion about achievements. Unlocking achievements doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy the game. I’m playing a lot of games after gained all achievements. I found a lot of games has smart achievements who let me understand better all the mechanics of the game, all the possibility and why not… a little bit of challenge. So, that’s not our problem. We play all difficulties without problems (Challenge accepted!). We just like to complete games as a group of friends.

We are not the best gears in the world and we are not interested in that. We spent a lot of evenings trying to master some hive. The challenge was hard but we never stopped to play it (TC fixed the difficulty later because was really insane…).

Not all players have the same possibility of all gears players. There are disabled persons too. A disabled person can’t feel fine playing versus against super pro teenager with a super internet connection and the will to be the best fury in versus. We can’t hear all noises, we can’t see clearly the screen, maybe our hands don’t move exactly like yours.

Honestly, I don’t like versus, I’m not good at versus and I’m not interested at all, and I feel “versus” mode just a place where guys are trying to prove how much they are pro. It’s not my place, really. I found a lot of aggressive people, it’s only an egoistic modality for me. This doesn’t mean it’s wrong or something, good for people who like it, just not my type.

I’m more for coop. I love horde from gear 2. I liked beast mode on gear 3. I love campaign coop (arcade mode on gear 3 was amazing.) For me it’s ok if you prefer versus, but it’s not like this for all. Maybe not in our possibility my friends.

We are not here to pretend the game is suited for us. We are just asking to set the 100.000 kills to any mode to give all kinds of players to reach with their own ability. The freedom to choose how to play the game we love and we paid. I prefer to fight at my friend’s side against hordes of locusts, or escape a hive with them, or complete a campaign with our loved heroes. We just don’t want to be forced to play only versus.

If this is not possible, it’s fine for players like us. We just decide to stop here and accept this as a sign of the new times we don’t are part to anymore. Gears of Wars is becoming more and more a place for pro-gamers and for a selected group of players. We can still come back to old gears’ game where playing side by side with Marcus and Dom was the best thing of Gears of Wars.

As a fellow achievement hunter who has every Gears achievement from 1 to 5 up to Operation 5 (Even BFF before it was made ezmode), please include every mode for these 6 achievements. Please do not just restrict us to play only Versus. Or if it is only Versus, please reduce everything by 40-50%.

I won’t even bother arguing about reup40 and the eventual reup50 achievement because it is obvious you are doing it just to promote selling boost.

Silver rank isn’t bad at all, and promotes people to play a little Versus, so I dont mind that since it is a reasonable achievement.
