Things that need to be said

Yes, definitely.

May as well make ranked modes Gnashers only starting loadouts…

I understand where you’re coming from, but it only seems like that because people enjoy the gnasher and movement mechanics of the game.

The best teams and players know how to transition between cover fire with lancer, clean up with pistols and battle with the gnasher. They also know how to strategically pick up and effectively use power weapons. Including weapons like retro and shocks.

I find those that just blindly rush in and try to gnasher everyone tends to be the reason why the team loses.

I wasn’t trying to be facetious, it just seems that the only gun anyone actually wants is the Gnasher.
I’m not a fan of the meta that’s dominated by one or two guns and wall-bouncing (I know I’m in the minority) it’s why I moved away from PvP and focused on PvE.

I’m not going to get into the new tuning since that’s been beaten to death already, but my question would be:
Why show my loadout in a ranked lobby if there’s nothing that I can do to change it?

Why is the Enforcer (and flashes) the only other option in quickplay? I’d like to have more starting weapons, more weapons in general really… But I’ve already made that clear.

There’s so much they can do with the weapon balancing, Saw-offed would be a great weapon to bring back to the game; They need to revert back to the gears of war 1/2 style of combat and mechanics/weapon tuning, then making the maps not as bright and shiny, maps should have more of a dark/shadowy theme to them, where the players would blend into the dark spaces, and the armor would have light reflect off of it, or something.

My bad i meant since he LEFT it’s getting better

I have to disagree with graphical choices (as far as maps go, even I find the New Day skins hideous) and I don’t really see an “everyone wins” scenario with this beyond adjusting your brightness accordingly or making daytime and nighttime versions of maps.

I may be overly optimistic here but I feel like more weapons could help mediate some of the problems in the meta, namely the Lancer spam: if we had more starters there would be at least some people that don’t immediately go Lancer. Of course there’s more to it than that… the balance part of weapon balance. It’s piss-poor as things stand now, no one actually uses the Enforcer (and I may be wrong but even if they did they’d need to manually select it each time they enter a game and that is just dumb if so), Hammerburst got neutered and discarded between 4 and 5 (have both HB AR from GoW1 and HB II from GoW2 onward and let one be a starter and the other pickup only),

HB Tangent

They’ve basically made the HB II revert back to how the HB AR functioned (it’s even called Hammerburst Assault Rifle in the weapon gallery) I’m sure they can fenagle an excuse as to bringing back the OG HB for the Imago and Outsiders/nomads to use while they use the Swarm Drone’s HB tuning in PVP as the HB II (it’s three-round burst and hits a lot harder, it could be further distinguished from the OG by allowing it to headshot kill people that aren’t DBNO). Or they could make it semi-auto again, I believe that’s the more popular demand. I’d be okay with either!

the Markza as a starter probably sounds controversial but hear me out, it’s a three-shot headshot if it’s not active (I believe?) and they removed the active boost on starters so I think that is fair enough. Not a lot of players are really good with it so it shouldn’t be too overpowered and then to replace the Markza as a pickup weapon we could have Breechshot make a return (pleasepleasepleaseplease!).

The Gnasher will always reign supreme, that’s just how it is, so while I’d suggest another starter shotgun I’ll just leave it here. (NOT THE SAWED-OFF, I want it back but make it pickup only if you do).

And for good measure: @TC_Kilo1062 @TC_Sera @TC_MichaelAOS :kissing_heart:

Saw-offed should be a power weapon pick up, If limbs are shot they should show signs of being shot at… Y’know? having bullets pumped into the characters arms/chest/legs, Face should have some incapacitating affect.

I dont miss sawed-off , but i’d like to couple things to be fixed asap.

  • this movement it’s too slow.
  • frags has to much delay .
  • Boom dont feel explosive weapon, it’s too weak.
  • same with dropshot is too weak .
  • Gun change delays have to be removed .

Couple things should be easy to fix .

Maybe they could introduce a ‘hardcore’ playlist that has health regen turned off, friendly fire turned on, less headshots to kill and maybe stim packs at certain areas? (Sort of like CoD, yeah?)
Could make the game more tactical which I know is what at least some people want, you could even do it with the current tuning. (Old tuning would be ‘core’/normal playlist tuning).

Can we add

  • switch which side you aim on with a stick click?

The fact that ‘right-hand advantage’ is still a thing when we’ve had the ability to switch sides (on cover only) in every single game is downright silly.

  • If shot in the legs, Knees, Anything below the waist will cause the player to be slowed, crippled, almost to the point of crawling, using cover to mount and gain balance, due the characters legs being damaged by bullets/explosions.

  • If a player is shot too many times in the hand/arm, shoulder, chest, bodily damage will occur. (if shot in the hand, obviously the hand will be incapable of wielding the weapon, thus making the player resort to cover to mount the weapon, causing the aim to be inaccurate.

Add more dynamic detail to the game.

  • A type of armor pick up, A more realistic pick up, where the player would perform an animation while putting on the armour.

  • Players spawn without any armour platings, they are required to go around the map and pick up pieces to assemble armour.

Example v

  • Kantus can put out a small area heal, and revive one downed player.

It sounds interesting on paper but I feel like the execution of this idea may be a bit too delicate a job for TC - and that’s not to bash them, I feel anyone would have a hard time making such an intricate system fun to play.

I wouldn’t want Gears to change too much more than it already has. Furthermore if they do change I hope they stick with it, not even players that play consistently can keep up with these tuning changes that come and go with the seasons.
I’m all for tweaking and rebalancing a meta lest it become stale to play, but when it’s this drastic you lose me and countless others. Then you’re back to square one with a pathetically-sized playerbase that you need to pull cheap tricks on to hook more outsiders.
(That’s not to say the current tuning is a cheap trick, there was plenty of time for people to give feedback but most were “done with Gears” and only came back to jump on the Dunk-on-TC Train).

remember the Booshka being shown in one of the OP trailers? I bet it was going to get added as well but was scrapped due the mishandling of the game.

that excuse about the people who made the trailer didn’t know it wasn’t tin the game sounded ridiculous.

probably has lots of plans for this game but all the overhauls/COVID killed that stuff off.

Everything you said is spot on.

No reason for this drastic tuning change this far into the games life. Player base is dead as it is.

Horde and escape are really great. I’m going to miss escape if it isn’t in any gears of war game after this. The biggest disappointment for me in these modes are the brain dead AI. Feels like it’s straight from 2006.

the kantus would heal like 150-250 out of the 600 heal a player has, The game is dead because it could have more added to it but it doesn’t. If gameplay had more depth, richer gameplay experience people would play it, and giving each specific swarm/locust characters or a cog character a ability in multiplayer would be a blessing for this game, same with a larger map that has more happening on it with a hammer of dawn, vehicles, 5v5v5v5? or 4v4v4v4? 10v10 at least?

*a controllable brumak in a lobby of 10v10v10… that can smash structures? just pitching ideas, honestly the people are saying if there’s a dude controlling a actual ram character that has the ability to control kyrll, and has extra health and his primary weapon it would bust the game, Or even a player controlling one of those warden characters or mini-spider type monster?

I honestly wouldn’t be opposed to bigger maps, bigger teams and possibly even vehicles if the servers could handle it.

The engine can’t handle too many things happening at once apparently, which is why the team size decrease happened in the first place I guess?

Although people still have issues with the servers and now they can’t queue with their friends and the leaderboard has two empty slots that are complete eyesores.

As far as your idea for ultimate abilities on characters, most people on here’ll tell you to go play arcade (even though it’s dead) or go play Overwatch. I won’t, but understand that most players REALLY don’t like the idea of classes outside of PVE.

I liked the hero system in Horde and Escape when the game first launched, it wasn’t perfect but I had no real issue with the concept. Each character having a unique playstyle gave me more reason to actually spend time on each character; although before long they ran out of ideas for ultimate abilities, classes and skill cards. (Not to mention everyone wanted to play different character and class combinations, so there was heavy backlash hence why they changed it in the first place). Back then the Swarm side characters were labelled ‘villains’ and it gave me hope that they were going to do something with them in PVE… but no such luck.

Enemies should get agitated (their flaw) and their number should be too big to handle. Remember the fortress defence act from Gears 3? There were so many grubs. That was Gears using subtle psychological horror to actually immerse you into something more than generic Fortnite/COD/Battlegrounds/pubg gameplay.

Gears 3 handled a ton of things on old 360 hardware. To be fair game developers make their own coffins with these graphics game engines that use deferred rendering and a ton of depth effects and raytraced reflections, when they don’t even use scene capture rendering for the metallic weapon skins. Forward rendering is what old game engines used to use, and it’s so much faster. Unreal Engine 5 is going for billions of triangles per second. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBktSo0bXas

A team of 10-20 on Horde, with the last survivor getting exclusive rewards like a rare character skin, would be epic. Because, people would try and stay in the game and try to save the team. Rather than exp/cards being the primary motivation for playing, in which you can simply quit.

I mean where is the suspense of Gears 1? Where is the horror? Where is the camaderie and the being a newbie, the tension and dread, as you move through an overrun warzone? There is literally no difference from Killing Floor 2 in the fundamentals of how to play: shoot, run away.

And where are the cool voice lines like IVE GOT THE CODES, or Marcus saying SH^IT YEAH!

What if they get shot in the nards?

They should of made gears of wars multiplayer into a more dark, grim, gloomy style with a expansion map, interactable objects, creatures, having the gameplay have a more in-depth experience; a better quality gameplay experience where the character has more realistic movement, reacting to its surroundings, in a dark space the lights on the cog armour would be shadowed by the darkness and be barely visible behind the smoke, fire, etc.

Seeing bullets flying out of a dark/shadowy area, and seeing this Solider storming out of the black mist with a retro lancer or chainsaw revving from behind the dark shadowy area. Having a swarm/locust hunter or sniper making use of the darkness in certain areas of the map, sneaking up on a unexpecting cog solider to perform a awesome melee brawl execution that requires a button combination of some sort.

Adding a more stealthy, mysterious vibe to the game would be it so much better, polish up the shadows, quality of the maps, Gears maps are so shiny and bright… nooooo, they should be dark! LOTS OF SHADOWS! dark areas where its being infested by kryll! forcing players to ignite a fire or light so they can access part of the map! bring PvE into PvP, having a NPC ally on the cog/locust-swarm team that can help fight, like spawning a berserker on the map for the locust/swarm, and for the cog would be a type of DB, Silverback, Or an actual berserker mode Clayton Carmine, more dynamic, more Detail.

Yet, There hasn’t been any dev taking part of this thread at all to explore ideas, and have a conversation about different topics of the game, the quality of gameplay and pin-pointing what they’ll have to do to provide a high quality gameplay experience. At least telling us what are the limitations of gears of war, and what they could bring into PvP/PvE, and what they could not even bother with testing to see if it would actually work in the live game?

Literally… Doesn’t the Team designing this game have any interest in making their game at least somewhat better? If they actually had someone with the right focus, and idea processing for this game - updating the character models for one, changing the movement animations, polish the wallbouncing and mounting to cover… make it more crisp and realistic, add more weight for the player sliding into cover, instead have the animation where the character model performs a realistic slide to cover, with another polished animation to lean over cover and aim to shoot, because most of the animations are really the same from gears 1? it hasn’t really changed too much, the quality of it is still the same old stale design with no improvements done too it.

A player roadie running can perform a slide or a tackle at the opposing player, where they would have the chance to execute the player with a button combo press, sliding at the locust/cog and chainsawing their legs, and the playing vs the player sliding will have a chance to hit a button to perform a counter execution where he does a cool move with whatever weapon they have out at the time? having two players roadie running at one single player they can perform a execute together to eliminate the single target? instead of just using the generic gnasher… boring gameplay for 2021.
