Things I don't like in Gears 5 - Ways to improve next Gears

  • Gears 5

Campaign
The Gears 5 campaign is exhaustive. I have the impression that the game is more about getting improvements for Jack than finding out the truth about the origin of the locusts.
Revisiting old scenarios from other Gears, finding out about the research of Niles and the Myrrah family would create a perfect campaign, were it not for this RPG idea.
Collect all of Jack’s improvements and then, when I play again, having to collect everything again is also going to drive anyone crazy. It makes me never want to play this story again, since all the other Gears I did play more than 5 times each.
The open world parts could be cool. We discovered many curiosities about the past, but I would still prefer something linear. Walking around just to collect things tires me out.
Gears 2 was the best campaign for me. The story was coherent, it held you and the stages were very different from each other, as well as fun. They could go back to that trail.

Horde
The horde mode of Gears 4 was almost perfect, I had fun and still have a lot of fun with it, now with Gears 5 the story is completely different.
I can’t use the characters I want because I have to choose the role I want to play in the battle that matches the character. Which alone discourages me, but it also makes it much more difficult to evolve in the horde, since you need to evolve each character separately instead of evolving the class.
Difficulty sucks, it’s not fun. In Gears 4 we got together to play insane and it was a challenge that we were excited to face. In Gears 5 it is frustrating due to the absurd difficulty and these modifiers do not make the experience with the difficulty pleasant.
In addition the horde could have more variants like a horde of 25 waves and add fortifications instead of removing, as it was with the troika.
Another thing that bothers me is the monotony of this horde, they could be more frantic, as in previous games.

Characters
The infinity of characters and skins in Gears 4 was impressive and should have continued with that. Gears 5 is so limited that you play versus and everyone has the same character.

Versus
I think it was one of the few things that worked out in the game. The connection is ok and the matches flow well. The weekly events are also pretty cool and I don’t think the aim and weapon power adjustments are bad.
But sometimes I have a 98% damage rate, which is absurd and the other just doesn’t die.

Hive
Something that I find useless. I don’t like to play and I wouldn’t miss it.

  • Next Gears

I would love for you to continue with the idea for the story that Gears 4 and 5 has been bringing, but to execute it in a more linear way as in Gears 2. Different stages, running away from monotony; the charisma of the characters and without these DTRs.
Return to Gears 4 horde mode with 5 improvements.
Extend playable characters and skins in multiplayer modes.

Escape is one of the things TC has got right, in terms of new content that is.

Well, that could be right, as we saw in Gears 3 with the beast mode. But for me, is just running

Horde enemies in Gears 5 should have been updated. I don’t see why you are fighting DBs and the Kestrel still in horde. I understood why they were enemies in Gears 4, they were actively trying to kill you in campaign. But in Gears 5, they are no longer enemies unless they get infected by leeches, in which they become an all new enemy.

They created new enemies like Leeches, Flock, infected DBs (Stumps, Rejects, Bastions), Warden, and Matriarch. But they should have removed the normal DB enemies and Kestrel from Horde mode and replaced them with these.

Granted you wouldn’t have to deal with Guardians or Sentinels anymore in horde, but TC could have created infected versions of those or do they all just become Bastions when infected? The Flock replaces the Kestrel and the Matriarch was added in as a new boss. Plus in getting rid of the DBs TC could have added in the Locust from Act 2 as enemies. Why aren’t they in horde anyway? The Sires are.

Horde to me just feels like a worse version of Gears 4 horde mode. Especially with the character restrictions and the fabricator restrictions. Why can’t every character craft the basic weapons? Every character should be able to craft a Lancer, Gnasher, or Snub.

I personally don’t like the Talon, would rather use the Snub or Boltok. But you can’t craft pistols you don’t start with, so the only way to get one is to have someone buy a repair tool so that they drop their pistol, since no enemy in horde uses pistols anymore. Gears 4 had swarm characters that used the Boltok, what happened to them? Same with swarm characters that used Lancers. Now enemies just don’t use those weapons, which sucks when ammo boxes don’t give you ■■■■ for ammo or someone else always takes them. So unless you have weapon lockers you get no ammo for them.

And you should be able to put pistols on the weapon lockers. In the Boot Camp there were grenades on them, but you can’t do that in horde. Why show that if it’s not possible outside of Boot Camp?
