What’s even worse here is that you heavily imply that you side with the OP in the way you’ve reacted to my post. I say again, it’s objectively subpar. No game that is acclaimed as good has as many issues as this game does. If you weren’t biased maybe you’d understand that a game being considered good goes beyond personal tastes. Some basic functions of this game do not work and have not worked since the last game.
The game is a success, so it being good is moot at this point.
Overall G5 is the best gears Mechanic wise. I just think we are in the day in age we have to expect server issues with new game. Lets be real its a nightmare of algorithims to balance different net speeds across the country.
Base weapons are all pretty much balanced and effective. Theres a few power weapons that need tweaking.
Maps I understand theres not that many but we are getting Free DLC and a map builder.
Horde is the biggest Offender but even with its offense its still fun and enjoyable at its base level. The only real issue is the hero lock. And thats fixable either with A G4 horde patch or bringing it in as a Game mode. G4 horde or what would be better imo Retro Horde mode like in G3 or G2
Honestly probably the worst gears yet I think…regarding versus. The typical eat a headshot but I die…okkkkk. I cant even hear anyone come up behind me anymore. Spawning is atrocious. Flash bang is ridiculous why change it? Keep it to smoke. The sights on the weapons are garbage. Walls are sticky, delayed movements, just overall pretty disappointed. Gears 4 is probably the best in my opinion regarding versus. But they do have time to make some updates so I’ll give them a chance.
That’s a defeatist attitude that allows the same thing to happen again and again.
If success is the only measure as to why people should buy games then anything can be marked as a success and there would be no reason to ever complain or input concerns to create a better product down the line. But apparently that’s the mood here.

Im often left scratching my head when people say the Gears game you don’t even need to hit the opponent to get rewarded in is the best its been.

definitely agree with you on this man. Everyone complaining about shots not registering or someone eating your shots clearly just cant aim. Well into re up 2 now and not once have i had someone eat my shot or had a shot not register. Gnasher feels amazing and for me personally being on PC the lancer does feel a little OP but other than that all the weapons are balanced to me.
Disagree. If you like standing still behind cover and going brrr with a rifle then it means you’ve never enjoyed the previous titles which were more centered around the Gnasher and required a lot more skill, aim and thinking. Some people are enjoying the game because they can finally rack up kills in a Gears game after 13 years thanks to how this game is built. Have fun.
I too have been with gears since the beginning I like the gameplay just dont like everything else i think gears 4 had it right with stat tracker (better) and coins and bounties and coins to buy packs and re-up rewards i spent enough money on the game dont wanna spend more just to get characters ect…
Yeah people are eating shots. When you get a 93%+ but they get 100% they’re eating shots. What More annoying is getting 98% damage. Like what missed a fraction of a pellet?
The truth about Gears 5 is that is broken in all areas of the game. Its so broken its sad. And TC just follow there DLC making schedule now… Adding things slowly that couldve been in the game already. They probably have a 6 month plan for this. While they start to work on the other half (after 6 month) right now.
Classic Road maps of things ahead… As in all other games… Anthem.
Patching this broken build. Celebrating that they pleased the journalists and influencers so much that they turn thier blind eyes on all the problem that exist. they probably ignored the QA team aswell, the guys that played it 8h+ everyday during development.
Adapting to something this broken is so hard. The thing a studio is fighting for now is players QUALITY TIME. They fight against other games/netflix and Real life. IF it’s not worth a players time they will leave. Theres so many other things to do,
The community will only become toxic if there is something wrong. And for not having questions answered. Or at least feel that they get addressed and not ignored.
I really wanted to like this game but yesterday I faced the truth about Gears 5. I cant play it in this state anymore. I know people that worked on previous Gears titles. And they where not excited at all for Gears 5. But said it looked amazing. And they where so right. its a frickin fasad 
of a game.
I will play it for some achivements nothing more… Hopefully they will unlock… doesnt seem to work either so i dont know anymore.
Gnasher is terrible for people like me, who don’t aim down sights and rely on movement to get in supper close and one shot dudes.
Great Post great to hear a veterans perspective and totally agreed !! I mean we have a longer campaign, horde, escape, multiplayer, boot camp to teach new people how to play…which is great by the way. Map Editor in motion ala Halo Forge and we all know how many awesome maps came out of forge…we got a customs so legit by the way to just jump in some games with older maps Gears 4…which leads me to the same conclusion as you have WTF is everyone crying about??

It’s truly disappointing how people are when developers put so much time into a game and accommodate all the whining…go play Nintendo or somethings but if you want to play a competitive cover based shooter clean the sand out your vaginas…
I noticed as I spawn in and start running, 8 times out of 10 an enemy is right behing me. Likes there’s no spawn protection at all.
