The Split - 15 characters

Worst Hive so far. Fighting Sentinels isn’t fun in Horde and certainly not fun when they come in duos with limited resources.
Freezing Snipers aren’t that bad, I guess. But the Hive is really good at highlighting how flawed the DB1s are. You get 1 chance for a killing headshot with the embar IF they’re like 15-20 meters away or they blow themselves up right away. Really frustrating during Score-runs.

If anyone wants to know the best route for Score-runs though.
Ch1 left first, get the fans, back to right side afterwards.
Ch2, same thing left first, Fans, back to the right.

I actually rather enjoy playing this hive with a variety of characters, albeit with Ironman off which doesn’t really change the difficulty much besides cutting down on the restart times a lot. While the BS from Sentinels, especially with how ridiculous the Salvo damage in Escape is compared to Horde, is somewhat annoying it hasn’t seemed to bother me enough to not enjoy playing the hive.

Yep hate the salvos … HATE THEM! A solvo rocket was shot at me and even though I did a complete dive out of the way to cover it somehow managed to still hit me even though I was no longer where I was. The hitbox for salvos is F****** rediculos.

is the split out this week?

It is. TC just copypasted the Gatekeeper-part from last weeks What’s up and forgot that were would be a new Hive today.

The Sentinel rockets here seem more powerful than most rockets. Takes down max Cole in just 3 hits without stim.

Salvo-Scion do the same even with 95%, the Scions aren’t flying though so easier to avoid.

In Horde, rockets are way less powerful (Cole can shrug them off even when the damage goes up)

I’ve beaten it twice, once as Mac, once as Kait. Kait can be extremely frustrating at times because you have to clear the first section, then let a DR1 get close to get her an overkill, but if you manage her being deadweight at the start, she’s very valuable from then on.

Mac I think is a very good choice anytime, as he can two shot drones and snipers (one of those being a headshot) with his boltok bleed. Great for clearing out early encounters until everyone else has their weapons.

For the first time in awhile, Fahz is nearly useless. He’s just not been any good with embar thus far.

Clayton is very good as well with concussive explosives. Great for taking down pesky fliers

And Cole is great because it’s Cole lol.

Any other good character choices? Curious what else to try.

Trust me, he is. He can clear out entire Sections again. We used him during our Score-run which admittely is far, far from perfect and atm we’re still at #14

Paduk is good for the first chapter, has to be careful during ch2 though.

Hmm. Well I guess I’m just playing with some bad Fahz’s then lol. I won’t be playing him because I’m no good with the embar. Hate that damn gun.

I’m a pretty big fan of Paduk, so I’ll have to potentially give him a go. I consider myself a good Paduk player. Full execution build I assume?

Yup, you can’t really contribute in the big area in ch2 BUT you can put the flyer into FEAR which is really good.

Wow, this one is pretty tough!

I did it on master just now with Fahz (me), Keegan and Kait - all of us were randomers and no mics. It took us several attempts. We took the Fabricator path in part 1 and the venom fans in part 2.

The venom creeps up on you pretty quick in places and in the section just before the helipad, there’s alot of enemies to fight. Just when you think you have cleared them all out, a few more show up including a surprise ambush from behind of two Sentinels. You’ll want to complete the initial fight (straight after the saferoom) quickly so you can stay ahead of the venom - there’s a fair amount to fight, so you’ll need breathing space!

In all, I think there must have been at least about 6 Sentinels plus 2 Guardians. It will vary depending on which path you take.

It gets easier as you become more familiar with the Hive. It’s especially important for Fahz as there are certain areas which benefit massively from your X-Ray ultimate, so knowing when to use it and when to save it can mean a big difference. Critical Parade is excellent and you can chain lots of kills using this. It’s harder with an EMBAR due to shorter zoom than the Longshot, and the active reload bar feels quite different, but if you get used to this, you can clear out lots of enemies.

I’ll save the score run for another day. I’m exhausted!

I don’t think there are any Lancers or Retros, so if you go for an execution build you’ll need to do it the old fashion way! Or use the Boltok with the Concussive Shot card.

I’ll definitely have to give him a go. Thanks for the info sir. Happy to hear it’s a full on execution build too. His sniper build is boring as hell.

I use his boltok stun in every build for him. I execute literally anything other than heavy enemies. I know my way pretty well around Paduk. Only character other than Mac and Kait I know for sure I’ll do well playing.
