I agree on the attitude part but the main problem about what you said about the industry to me is that all the devs that had love and passion for gears are gone all the people that cared about the game and looked for innovation and ways to improve have all moved on, the entire industry built up around gears is on its last leg and it feels like the devs aren’t really trying to do anything about it
I agree with you. The game is in a bad way and that makes me nervous about the future of this franchise. It does seem soulless and they are just going through the motions. The more I hear from Rod Fergusson the more I wonder if he is the problem. Most of his talking points seem to be looking for good will points and all the good will in the world is not going to save this franchise. Inclusion is good, accessibility is good as long as the spirit of the game is at the base. But to me it seems hes just more interested in talking about how revolutionary he is in terms of Gears 5 and it’s more of a pat himself on the back each article I see him speaking.
It’s a sad state of affairs and I think we can all agree on this game desperately needs to be in a better state. What makes me uneasy is Microsoft is not going to let an IP like gears die. It was easily one of thier top IP’s they will cut everyone out before they allow it to die but god only knows who the hell they would bring in and it could be worse than what we have now so yea a little unsettling for the franchise’s future.
It’s quite crazy indeed how some “pros” are behaving indeed
You have no clue if this is your interpretation of what they’re saying.
The lack of self awareness in this thread from casuals is astounding.
Like they know more about the game then people who are actually good at it.
No good games are balanced around bad players so I don’t know why everyone here thinks the game should be balanced around Quickmatch and arcade games
Well that’s a dumb assumption to make. Also since we are going to toss salt around how dumb do you have to be to think you know more about the systems than the people who developed it? Like I said earlier you want to support pros views. That’s fine, that is your prerogative. However your attitude off the top is just as ignorant as the narrative being pushed by other bone heads so your individual opinion is clearly biased. There are some twitter posts you can go tell them how great they are. You wont get any sympathy from me acting high and mighty but if you are willing to step off the pedestal and have a conversation this thread is here for that.
Probably the dumbest thing I’ve read in my life.
In the real world, not the fantasy bubble some of those guys live in, if the pros were to get “Thanos’d”, the game would still be in the current state as it is now because the average player would still be populating the game and spending cash in the store and hardly any of them would bat an eye. If it would be the reverse however, the game wouldn’t survive without the average player/community.
Dude should seriously lay off the crack.
You’re talking like the people on this forum are reasonable when they’re shown 0 willingness to engage with the subject rationally. You can continue acting high and mighty on these forums pushing your fake 'pros ruin the game ’ narrative or you can actually learn about the subject.
Tc has consistently shown they cant make a good Gears game so not sure how you thought that was a good point.
If you think this is what people are asking for then I’m not sure you’ve read or understood anyone here. Most of us play ranked and most of us are 06, not exactly the casual audience.
As to you other point, they are upset they cant hit stuff as it’s ‘too fast’ for them. This being gears approaching g2 glacial speeds, and even g4 being faster than the current game, indicates that they are somehow awful shots, or more likely hit detection is rubbish.
The games been way faster before and the pros then could hit their shots, so the speed shouldn’t be a problem fie todays crop.
Way to take things I said to you and repurpose them but regardless, I never said TC was doing a good job with the game. Let’s also not pretend they dont know more than any of us on how this works was the point. Bad judgement calls on TC’s behalf in design, sure you can see me saying that all over the forum.
Also not sure where you saw me say “Pros Ruin the Game” nor have I pushed any narrative at all. I called them whine bags and I still stand by that statement.
My points have all been on the subject matter, I cant speak for everyone else but I can speak for myself and say I disagree with movement being the source of the issues. Also they should stop acting like games are only made because of pros. That is quite comical and has nothing to do with Gears if someone actually believes that is true. That is what this thread was based in and remains as such.
You would be whiny if you did something for your job and it went backwards over a period of 5 years. While the people running your job pretend to listen to your suggested changes and actually do nothing except token pointless changes.
Only one person has said “the game is nothing without pros” so not sure why you’re taking that as something everyone believes.
There’s people at the Coalition that have game knowledge, but the people calling the shots are quite obviously clueless about what the community wants (casual or competitive) . If I give someone a cake recipe and then they screw it up 3 times in a row I’m going to assume they don’t know how to make a cake.
All i know is the game played great last night. I dont think TC should make any major changes. Besides to the horrible matchmaking.
I work in a very large company. We call that Monday. Anyhow, I am not in disagreement with the handling of the game its piss poor and probably could have conveyed that better if you didnt come in here guns a blazing. We can have a civil discussion about it and you will generally see that fans alike want to push this in the right direction and that is the core here regardless of who wants what. I think we can agree the game needs to be in a better position than it currently is period.
I’m not sure how you’ve got to the conclusion people are complaiing because they can’t hit shots. The people complaining are literally the people who won the last event. They also play for most of the money on LAN which means it isn’t about hit reg.
They’re complaining because everyone is forced into playing the same sped playstyle which requires minimal thought process.
In Gears 3 you could be a wallbouncer, strafer, hardaimer, support player, or any combination of those. At any kind of high level in Gears 5 (not just the pro level) you have to be a wallbouncer and an up a’er.
I mean you can read Kenny’s thread to see that a lot of people on this forum aren’t willing to engage in dialogue.
This thread is literally attacking pros and competitive players.
Imagine the reactions if I made a thread saying “Horde players need to stop whining about pay to the microtransactions”. It serves literally no purpose and is designed to rile people up.
Well I cant speak to things that others do and I havent engaged with anyone in the thread whom was doing that as that is not my intent within the thread. Thread was to call out bad behavior not necessarily make a thread to rile up the userbase. Vitriol is in any forum or congregation of the internet. Dosen’t mean we shouldn’t discuss certian items as a result.
i agree to an extent but some of them truly want what is best for the game…
This right effing here!
We want viable play styles!
Gears 4 and current Gears 5 are equivalent to jetpack call of duty!
Look at my post above this one to see the points that people missed in all of this.
Their thought process is literally “press A and hope for the best!”
But can we trust their ability to discern that for the rest of us? Nay says I. Not when they look down on everyone who isn’t making money on the game like them. Go no farther than twitter for this glaringly obvious opinion being openly discussed.
