The Latest TC Antics: Yay, ads!

I get your point but, you may have missed mine. I personally don’t spend real money and i don’t care if others choose to. I’m pissed that the game is rammed full of bugs.
On the his thread alone there’s:
Glitchy smokes
Getting stuck in maps
Glitchy fortifications
Hit box detection issues
Massively high ping
Patches making things worse
And general warranted community gripes.

That’s just some of many many more that people have but instead of focusing on fixing them they opted to introduce ads on the main menu.

You mean the little notification we get in the main menu when we first boot up the game for the day? Meh, it doesn’t really bother me. And it definitely won’t work on me neither, but TC can keep trying though.

I think OP is more angry that TC dare spend time adding this feature rather than addressing the herd of elephants in the room.

Lol I love it. Thanks for the morning laugh.

I know, it sucks. But if I’m not mistaken, isn’t the store cared for and worked on by a different team at MS? Could be wrong but I think I remember TC stating that in the past. Or maybe it was just in reference to the prices.

Exactly this. And it’s not the little orange exclaimation. It’s a whole banner just above the menu at the bottom!

Maybe TC know they’ve really ■■■■■■ up here and they just want to screw every last penny before everyone eventually leaves. I actually really like this game but it’s starting to get tedious. I can’t find remotely decent lobbies in quick play anymore it’s even worse than it was at launch. Seriously this is getting worse

You think the people working on the store are also working on server stability and other aspects of the game?

Hint* They aren’t.

No, they have that much man and brain power, and they are prioritizing most important thing. And it is store.

That is not how game development works… Or any business/company of decent size for that matter. The bug fixing coders are not responsible for the store or marketing.

Even if that is the case; They have employed people to do a job. Clearly those who are a part of the store are excelling and extraordinary in their field. Whether they were direct hires from TC or MS or whoever. Those they’ve hired for the most critical aspects of running the game must’ve gone to clown college. Regardless of who is responsible for this team or that they all are under the umbrella of TC to run their game efficiently as a team. Not prioritise.

I can understand why teams don’t always have a Fahz. At least from my perspective, the optimal line up I always see is:
-De
-Jack
-Kait
-JD

Thus there is only one spot left for either Marcus, Fahz, COG Gear, Sarah Connor, Kat or Emile. Now this is just IMO, but Marcus, Sarah and the Reach characters aren’t super viable; Emile is probably the best as I understand (don’t own them myself) he has bleed on melee or something, but on later waves that’s a bit too high risk compared to Kait and shotguns.
This then leaves Fahz and the new COG Gear. Personally, outside of the ability to indeed kill an enemy out of bounds or something, I don’t think I would pick Fahz over the Gear. This most certainly comes from how I like to play the game, but I would much rather have the Gear who is a very strong support character (healing marks, team revive, general tank skills) and honestly IMO Invalidates Marcus, rather than just having another damage dealer.

Emile is pretty useless in higher difficulties of Horde as his cards tend to rely too much on CQC and has a limited number of cards at its disposal as opposed to the other characters.

From what I understand, Fahz can be a pretty useful DPS with the trishot mixed with his ult if equipped with the proper cards. But imo doesn’t hold a candle to JD.

I did literally go on to say “he has bleed on melee or something, but on later waves that’s a bit too high risk compared to Kait and shotguns”. I was strictly speaking between Marcus, Kat, Emile and Sarah that Emile was IMO Probably the strongest with that ability but in a poor place since he struggles to make use of that ability in later waves.

I agree that Fahz can be useful DPS, but I’m of the opinion that I’m unsure if more DPS Is even necessary, considering Kait for Bleed, JD For bleed and raw damage and Del for forts (namely sentries/shock sentries). Fair enough I haven’t played above Advanced yet so perhaps in the higher diffs he’s more viable, but I would much rather have the “team save” character than more damage.

Ah missed that part…

Damage wise no. Jd outweighs him. Taking out priority targets like bastions, guardians and sentinels, a fahz is great. Jd and kait both struggle with those.

That’s where grace comes in and says hi whilst she melees a scion at wave 50 face on without needing a heal

I’d still argue a melee character is an objectively worse choice than a support or ranged damage dealer on Elite/Insane and upwards, especially after wave 30.

Fahz’ X-Ray doesn’t let his shots bypass Sentinel or Guardian shields though, does it? They will be really painful to get through if it’s not Sentries taking the shield down or JD weakening it with a Boomshot or grenade from his Lancer.

And some careful Overkill aiming does work quite well with Kait against Bastions. Sentinels and Guardians, only really if they don’t have their shield up.

It shoots through the shields as if they’re not there. Aim for the “motors” to get the critical hit damage and you can oneshot a guardian pretty much

At wave 40+ with 2 sentinels swarming you the kait goes down every second and Jack has to permabeam her. Carefully aiming can’t be done there. Its cloaking to get behind them and clip them or hip fire at the turret

Best thing next to fahz against these things is actually a sentry or someone with a trishot taking down the shield and having your JD use a torque bow on them. Guaranteed hit granted your jd can aim decently. High damage. Impact damage + explosion + bleed

I was aware the “eyes” on Sentinels and Guardians would count as a weakspot(and take higher damage accordingly from hits to those), but not that their engines/jets/whatever they are actually did. Certainly wasn’t the case in Gears 4.

As for the Torque Bow, I feel like its damage is just not that great in Gears 5. Certainly did not seem so when I used it against Guardians and Sentinels without headshotting them on Insane with the health modifier on.

Edit : Boomshot with the associated damage skill for JD is definitely a better pick than the Torque Bow imo, if you can’t land headshots with the Torque Bow accurately(I can, but I’m not too sure on its usefulness unless you used some power on JDs headshot damage perk on Inconceivable or Master). Kills Bastions easily and does a lot of damage upon a direct hit or near miss too. Not as much as the Lancer GL though. But that thing is also not great at hitting flying enemies except the Kestrel, and Flock, either.
