The Big Tuning Thread

good points here recently guys. also, were people really getting up A’d and air back A’d that much? seriously?

i’ve seen many people say something like, “im finally not doing to an up a all the time”

you were dying to an up a all the time? it’s like bull fighting, bait and get out the way!

i loved it so much, specially on the series x

it legit feels slow mo. i loved golden eye btw

i used to play so aggressive, which is why i never got up A’d/back A’d myself. i love that play style but i can see why they decided to nerf it

in conclusion, for me it is just not as fun or rewarding. the fun for me was the high speed chess battles, which absolutely not always resulted in up A’s. like others have said, you can adapt and dominate but it doesn’t mean it will be as fun.

It happens a lot. All fathers when that middle hill wasn’t raised up… it was a up a dream for people.
I’ve run into a lot of people who would shotgun battle and try to get in a stance sp they could up a me.

The issue isn’t the speed, it’s the connection so the speed looks like his gun was faster. You are still gonna get up a and think you pulled the trigger. Thats not a tuning issue

I’m convinced they either do not care, or do not have the interest of the community in mind.

They changed the way the game functions purely because some people were getting absolutely dogged on.

There is a difference between making valid points against a tuning and whining about it because you’re booty at the game.

Golden eye was a phenomenal game tho

look, i understand the need for balance and wanting to achieve it but it’s kinda like apex legends

they talk so much about how much a character gets picked and how often teams with what characters. i mean, there’s always going to be a meta.

reminds me of when i played madden NFL. one year it was run heavy, the next it was singleback, and the one after was shotgun heavy. always gonna be a meta.

what will the complaints be once this new tuning settles? you cant achieve perfection. i was perfectly fine with the previous tuning myself and that is what has me so down on this one.

I have literally never played against Guilty Crisis — not even once. If he wants to play me in a umg wager I’d be more than happy, more than happy to take his money. Something else I want to point out, I lose ranked matches every single day that I play the game just like everybody else. Even though I’m sure I’ve never played against him, it wouldn’t make a difference if he’s beaten me 90 times in a row, it’s ranked, I don’t care — I’m sure I’ve lost to players worse than him, it’s an irrelevant talking point. He is correct about one thing — he’s never lost to me, he’s also never played me but don’t let that get in the way.

I wasn’t even flexing, if I were going to flex I’d flex my gb profile which shows me quite literally having the best records in Gow3 & 4.

And that’s only the very beginning of things I could flex about — again, anyone can/could beat me in ranked and they probably already have. I’ve just never played against this player. Great exchange courtesy of your boy, essentially admitting to lying and trying to threaten me by saying he’s a 225 lb powerlifting golden glove boxer lmao. Is this really a person you’re going to take seriously? Be honest with yourself, this is embarrassing.

Edit: I have to reiterate this again because it drives me nuts — I lose ranked matches every day, if I play against you in ranked, or anyone else who stumbles across this post there’s a decent chance I’ll lose to you as well. Just as there’s a decent chance you’ll lose the next match you play, it’s a coinflip, it’s ranked.

Edit2: Funny that you’re interested in attacking me, but not addressing any of my points — not even an attempt was made.

Right? I played this game today and it didn’t feel like Gears at all.

However, I know we cannot achieve perfection, but I do believe there is a certain thought process that goes into disregarding a lot of the communities grievances with the tuning.

I’d honestly prefer the old tuning as it was one of the most widely accepted tunings. I just hope they make a U-turn

they wont, they already said this is final and that it will be the last major update in terms of gameplay

im just hoping for tweaks at this point

Here’s to hoping it happens

I would love to know the godlike players you people are playing who aren’t allowing you to play aggressive

I find it crazy that people in here are saying that you LITERALLY are not able to play aggressive on this update, every game I get in I see a nice mix

Did they say this in the dev stream or something? (Like in terms of it being the last major update gameplay wise)

yeah, the most recent stream.

@jareb_g i think the argument is about how viable it is rather than if it is possible at all.

Lol dude I honestly couldn’t care less. I just found it funny. My gt has clown in the title.

In all seriousness, I liken what you said about the game to Keynesian economic theory. So smart and mathmatically perfect that it doesn’t actually work In real life. There may be a sect of players that like how perfect this tuning is (assuming you’re correct), but for the vast majority of people, judging by the responses here, its just not enjoyable. I’ve got friends who have been masters every season and hate it, and i have bronze friends who hate it. The consensus seems pretty universal.
Now im not trying to commit a bandwagon fallacy, and if thats how you see it, ok fine. But i just dont think it was a wise move on TC’s end to cater to a very small portion of the player base, and then act like it was generally well recived.

Just being honest, like 30% of my kills & deaths before this update were some form of wrapshot, up-a, back-a, reaxion shot or roadierun. If I wasn’t dying to it, I was killing people with it.

Yes. And that was fun.

yeah, i can see that being about right. for me, i’d say it was a lower % because of how much i pushed.

when i wasn’t pushing, i was playing for damage so i could counter all of those things. now, it also depends a lot of what game mode and how many people you team up with.

say, if you play solo koth, you certainly will have a more uphill battle in which you will suffer x and y more.

but i guess i didn’t mind it, i come from playing “old school” games where it just was what it was

I don’t regard this tuning as perfect at all, and actually I think they nerfed the most skillful aspect of movement the most (bouncing) and the least skillful aspects the least (roadie run, up-a etc). The positive is that by virtue of the game being slower you actually get to fight people more often — but that’s kind of the only positive albeit a big one. And yeah people hate the tuning, I’m not evangelical about it I’m not trying to convert people from tuning-hating-heathens to tuning-loving-saints, if anything I’m trying to convince of my own positions which are counter to both sides.

I mean it’s definitely still very viable? I see a lot of talk on this thread saying they’re trying to make it noob friendly when it’s literally the opposite, slowing it down makes it easier to hit but if you’re a competent bouncer and know how to time your opponents shots its definitely still just as deadly as before, they’ve made it where not everyone is good at it. bouncing isn’t supposed to be easy and it seems like most the people in here are complaining because they’re getting dunked on in games and are trying to pass off them getting beat up as “OH NO TC HAS RUINED BOUNCING WAH WAH WAH”

EDIT: btw I’m not trying to put anyone down who just has the preference of preferring the feel of quick movement it’s more about the people coming in here complaining about TC saying they’re trying to noon the game up

EDIT2: and also I’m very meh when it comes to the delays, I can see most the people’s point when they complain about that

Quick shout out to strafe god (me)

Thats not fun it’s so boring and so unskillful — it was the worst part about the game by far. You didn’t actually need to fight people, just run at them and kill them before you hit the wall. At least bouncing looks really cool and it’s hard to do.

Hey man im sorry. I think I came at you more aggressively than I should have. I just hate the tuning with a passion.
