I found that trick out the same day it came out. My 16 year old son showed me. I probably won’t have known if it wasn’t for him.

I knew you could move around throughout, and could do stuff after the wave ends like pick up ammo, but just before the scoreboard appears cos pressing the X button when the scoreboard is up selects something on the scoreboard.

I’ll be honest and say I actually prefer Horde in Gears 5 to Gears 4. Mainly because there’s fewer waves of robots.
But, the class/character lock is still really annoying and to be honest it just feels linear, having something like the mid wave “objectives” from previous games would be nice.
I also mainly play Fahz, his gold card is useless and I also have a hard time making headshots when in Xray because the enemies are basically just big purple blobs.
I would prefer if his ultimate gave you set number of shots rather than a timer.
Yeah it’s a pretty neat trick that helps with ammo boxes. You can hold X starting before the score screen comes up, and you can still move using the A button as long as your name is selected in the results. Most waves last about long enough for an ammo box to pop up, so I hold X and run over to it to grab it before a new one respawns, and leave that for the next player.
Only problem is when you run over a weapon you didn’t want, and swap it for your equipped one by accident.
I disagree with this but would like if characters were able to upgrade the limited fortifications they’re able to build. This would increase viability of teams lacking an engineer.
One of the primary roles Jack can undertake is assistant-engineer, repairing and moving fortifications more efficiently than anyone having to buy a repair tool. There’s nothing wrong with others helping move/repair things if required but they don’t need buffs in that regard unless it’s in the form of a skill card they need to equip.
Del really shouldn’t be spending much time killing anything once you’re well into a match. He has some cool combat-related cards that would be fun, but using them would detract from his utility. I guess the exception here is sentry-light, heavy weapons-focused games.
It is nice to have support as an engineer though. I played as Del with a Jack and Kat and thought the overlap in shared roles would cripple the team. It was the opposite. We had a sick base and time to do some shooting.
We totally need Locust back though. Obviously there would be a lot of functional overlap with Swarm but we could have Maulers, Kantus, Beast riders/blood mounts, and bosses like the Reaver and scaled-down Corpser.
Great excuse to bring back things like the Gorgon pistol and Boomshield (which would add viability to pistol builds and be great in Escape).
That would be a huge effort, but basic Locust characters and skins already exist so their addition wouldn’t be as involved.

I don’t really see the point in giving characters the option of buying specific fortifications if they can’t do anything with those fortifications once they’re built. I understand not giving everyone a repair tool so as to make the Engineer class unique, but teams lacking an Engineer would be viable if each character could upgrade his/her special fortifications.
I agree with some of the things mentioned in this thread. To be honest I like how each class is limited to building. If we open that part back up you’ll have gears 4 all over again. Snipers being heavies, soldiers being scouts and everyone being an engineer and etc. This format is more play your role based mode. The one thing I’m 100% against is the character lock in for a class. You should be able to pick your character with the class you want to be with the class restrictions. @TC_Octus @the-coalition
Fahz can oneshot guardians though. Ive seen some fahzes do serious damage, with longshot. And they’re getting a change even that is likely a buff.

I just feel that this hero class system is bad because of the meta in general and I really, really, really get tired of having to switch to another character or seeing the same 4 characters, soon to be 5. It’s a bad system, like it or hate it, it is a bad system. I find myself disliking horde more and it has been my favorite game mode since its induction. 5’s horde is really, really making me feel like it’s a chore and I don’t like that.
Unbind classes from characters, get rid of the hero system, make it fun again by having us be able to work together and survive instead of having JD in a corner firing of the GL for bleed, or Kait holding a hallway with her bleed. I don’t want to be forced to play another character because someone elses is higher, I don’t want to be Del to be an engineer, I don’t want to play Kait just for her damage. I would like to be who I want, when I want, how I want.
4’s horde was a step in the right direction. This horde could be better if classes were unbound from the characters and you have the right to choose, or hell even put in a classic horde option. I mean, just something to stop seeing the same people over, and over, and over again. It’s going stale and I’m sinking fast.
Playing as the cog on horde it is very hard to go full pistol.
You better hope you have a friend who shares bullets with you because a box gives like 20 and you cant put them on a weapon locker.
Oh and pistol bullets cost juat as much as every other gun
In gears 3 horde the sentrys became incendiary once they were fully upgraded. If we had some means of freezing things from a greater distance besides the cryo cannon Fahzs gold card would actually be useful. Right now that perk is only useful on icebound.
I prefer Kat over Del because of her ult and the embar kills downed enemies with execution rules. That hologram saved my team from wipes. Del’s blue balls can’t do that
Del flat out gets better cards, no denying that. I’ve been in games with Kat an Del and lets just say no sentry was empty, no fence was near destroyed(before the 3 barrier glitch) Del built things at first but after his cost went up then Kat would start building.
Before I got the discount to building perk I was using the “deebee weapons have less recoil” card. It is amazing on a tri shot.
yes my friend yes! i feel like some buffs are in order for other characters to be viable and yes like emille and kat need some help with cards. sarah and that grace chick too probably. and when there are more characters should make that dream team less used too. should make the duplicate problems less as well. tho i feel like upon release the new characters will be duplicated all day for a month haha.

I wouldn’t want a kat or Emile either. But that’s because of principle. They dont fit in gears imo
Almost all of the Emiles I play with are obnoxious or play poorly - not based on class. This is a harsh generalization and I’ll admit one of the all around best and most friendly players I’ve encountered were playing Kat.
I don’t mind others playing as them (or whoever else they want) and hope they do well. I just don’t expect them to.
I dislike the presence of non-Gears characters on the basis they make up such a huge part of a tiny roster.
100% agreed. And they lack the cards for horde.
Grace and Sarah can do well, even with few cards. But Emile and kat just aren’t made for it imo
Emile is good for escape.
Kat feels like Del without perks and a hologram. I dont know why TC thought releasing characters with half as many perks was a good idea. Even if they released gears chars instead who thought this was acceptable?
