TC actively discouraging Gears 4 players?

Reminds me of an episode of The Looney Tunes Show where Bugs Bunny calls into his cable provider because his cable went out. He’s on the phone with Cecil (that turtle from the classic cartoons) and goes through the stereotypical situation of dealing with a cable company.

The thing is, Cecil turned the cable off on PURPOSE and gives random people a hard time simply because he finds it amusing.

There’s even a bit where Bugs asks if he could simply turn the cable back on, where Cecil responds with something along the lines of “Do you really think we can switch people’s cable on and off just like that?” All the while, his computer has a simple yes/no prompt about doing so.

(a) TC streamlining/reducing systems in order to eliminate any maintenance requirements for GOW4 in the future, (b) a ranking system designed to work with thousands of players and data points behaving in unexpected ways because there are now very few players/data points, and (c.) the game no longer being actively monitored/maintained by the devs. The idea that TC employees are pulling levers and pushing buttons to intentionally screw the dozen or so of you who went back to GOW4 is pretty goofy when you really think about it. Real mustache twirling fantasy right there. There are enough accidental malfunctions in TC games that we don’t need to invent audacious conspiracies to explain why an old game they no longer care about is malfunctioning.

Apparently you have data on how many players are still in Gears 4. I would like to see the source or link.

You say TC is no longer interested in G4, if so why does it keep the shop there with items that can be bought with real money?
What maintenance is needed for a voting system?

Effectively everything that has been said here is mere speculation, however it is striking that precisely those 2 factors have been broken and not others (such as the possibility of buying with real money for example).

They also put ads for Gears 5 and the Rockstar drink or whatever energy drink that is to win a truck? Unless that isn’t new but I don’t remember it and it usually just was Gears 5 ad.

Just played 2 games of KOTH on Gears 4, Relic and Forge, we couldn’t choose of course. The lag was very real!.
I think about 7 of us had pings of 20-40 but 3 players had 200+

If everyone laughs at Gears 5 for being down to 500 Steam players and 20ish on the Xbox most-played list, aren’t I allowed to make fun of GOW4 for not being in the top 50 most played games and having 0 Steam players?

That doesn’t justify the embarrassment Gears 5 is going through.
With only 2 months to have come out and is in 28th place.
How many months it took for Gears 4 to reach that low level?

In 3 years Gears 5 will have far fewer players than Gears 4 has now.

And there’s no need to search for excuses, Gears 4 has completed its cycle very honorably, with successes and failures like any game, but what happens with Gears 5 is a disgrace for a saga like this.

When Gears 5 reaches the same age as Gears 4, it will be a game more than dead.

Omen the numbers in public have to be low…every game starting with bots in…i try to avoid pubs…but iv also noticed what seems like a drop off in custom…dont think we’ll ever get numbers but just playing speaks for itself.

Not only the ranks but also the voting system have sabotaged it.
For the last 3 weeks you have not been allowed to vote for the map before each match.

And yes, the problem continues.
It’s the first time I’ve seen a company damage its own product in this way.

I know about the map voting, I was playing while it was happening. Gears 5 is a disaster so I went back to 4 the same week 5 came out. Hadn’t played it in a while, since I’ve been hanging around the forums cuz Gears 5 sucks massive ****. Hoping they fix it but doesn’t look like that’s happening. Anyway while on these forums I just saw this one post in particular and couldn’t believe it. My one gears safe haven is being sabotaged. Haven’t touched Gears 4 since I read this. Was kinda hoping it may have been resolved now a couple of weeks later, but you’re saying it’s still occurring. If those geniuses think the vets are gonna go play 5 cuz rank in 4 is broken they’re badly, badly mistaken. As many have already said, we would much rather go play other games, then go contract aids playing 5.

UK player, 1:20pm, been trying to find a KOTH game in Gears 4 and I’ve been waiting 15 mins & counting…

Either there are zero players in the EU tryin to play KOTH on 4 or somethins up with the servers wether intentionally or unintentionally…

Lol, I had not played PvP before GoW4, only PvE… I’m seriously considering trying Gears 3 koth now, just for the heck of it, since so many people are claiming how good it was… Hmm…
