TC its acting as " OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL" in which TC made a wish and it just changes all over Gears 4 in any way they like so they can attract more players to 5.
TC are dumb enough by themselves and screwing things up in normal business hours.
I recall Clevens saying that numbers (in versus) are not where they would like them to be … but they hope to improve that.
That’s about the clearest stat I’ve seen on actual versus numbers.
I’m not sure which is worse… intentional sabotage or actually being completely ignorant of what is taking place in their own title.
I did a KOTH on security last night and opponents were spawning right next to me… I mean, literally next to me. And I would spawn in places right next to them too, and just laugh as they tried to shoot me, through spawn protection…
Now, I KNOW security had problems with spawns before, I played KOTH there MAAAAAAAANY times, but last night’s was so extreme, so consistent, that either it was a ridiculous outlier, or something changed…
I admit, I’ll pop into G5 every now and again, play with some friends a game or two, do some horde with other friends, but mostly I have to force myself to try and like it (and mostly fail)… So do I count as a successful player in their stats? Their RAW NUMBERS aren’t what they would like, and how many of those ones they have are like me? Sure, we play, but spent $0 in the store, and really feel no interest or excitement about the game…
I enjoy Coop GoW4 more than any ranked G5 game, game play wise… I only play G5 for social reasons now, and the number of friends still playing it barely above zero now…
Remember that fella who had a theory that TC had incorporated a form of lag-compensation which gave players with higher ping extra boosts to their damage output and defence? He then challenged us to get an official response from TC. When TC confirmed that his theory is incorrect, he had a moan along the lines of “of course TC would say this!”
Man… that was a bit of a crazy day. 
I’m pretty sure he had also made a bet and offered $100 or something to whoever got this response from TC. Obviously he never paid up, even when the winner asked for it to be donated to a charity.
Reminds me of an episode of The Looney Tunes Show where Bugs Bunny calls into his cable provider because his cable went out. He’s on the phone with Cecil (that turtle from the classic cartoons) and goes through the stereotypical situation of dealing with a cable company.
The thing is, Cecil turned the cable off on PURPOSE and gives random people a hard time simply because he finds it amusing.
There’s even a bit where Bugs asks if he could simply turn the cable back on, where Cecil responds with something along the lines of “Do you really think we can switch people’s cable on and off just like that?” All the while, his computer has a simple yes/no prompt about doing so.
Dude, Gears is “Broken and Dead”.

Apparently you have data on how many players are still in Gears 4. I would like to see the source or link.
You say TC is no longer interested in G4, if so why does it keep the shop there with items that can be bought with real money?
What maintenance is needed for a voting system?
Effectively everything that has been said here is mere speculation, however it is striking that precisely those 2 factors have been broken and not others (such as the possibility of buying with real money for example).
I’m the same way… 1 or 2 games and then it just feels like a chore to stay engaged.
They also put ads for Gears 5 and the Rockstar drink or whatever energy drink that is to win a truck? Unless that isn’t new but I don’t remember it and it usually just was Gears 5 ad.
Keep making excuses for GOW4’s low player count. 
Just played 2 games of KOTH on Gears 4, Relic and Forge, we couldn’t choose of course. The lag was very real!. 
I think about 7 of us had pings of 20-40 but 3 players had 200+
That doesn’t justify the embarrassment Gears 5 is going through.
With only 2 months to have come out and is in 28th place.
How many months it took for Gears 4 to reach that low level?
In 3 years Gears 5 will have far fewer players than Gears 4 has now.
By the way, what’s Steam got to do with it?

And there’s no need to search for excuses, Gears 4 has completed its cycle very honorably, with successes and failures like any game, but what happens with Gears 5 is a disgrace for a saga like this.
When Gears 5 reaches the same age as Gears 4, it will be a game more than dead.
Omen the numbers in public have to be low…every game starting with bots in…i try to avoid pubs…but iv also noticed what seems like a drop off in custom…dont think we’ll ever get numbers but just playing speaks for itself.
Are they still sabotaging Gears 4 ranked?
