Stop living in the past people. Gears 5 is great

Yes! I don’t understand how they still haven’t added more variety to the Swarm, there’s such a small amount they actually added. We still get 15 Scions with different power weapons. They should have just brought back Locusts for Horde already. There’s no variety, and the different Swarm look too much alike as is, same issue as GOW4.

I’m also not the only one that has commented on how it seems bot AI has gotten even stupider since GOW4, which I thought was impossible. In VS they usually don’t even pick you up, and on Ice Bound, they walk right into the ice water. You can’t have AI this bad when you have modes like Horde and Escape that you want people going back to.

“Play how you want to play”, that motto is contradicted with every new change made.

Played Gears of War 4 yesterday. It just feels so much better than Gears 5 for me.
More fluid and faster movement, no reverse omen, that covers almost all of your screen and makes shotgun battles, which are one of the best parts of Gears for me, less enjoyable, no constant flashbangs in your face, no overpowered weapons, no bullet magnetism, better maps etc. I know it took time to get Gears 4 to where it is today but I think it launched in better state then 5.
I think core gameplay in Gears 5 is changed so much that it’s not something you can “fix” with updates.
Maybe it’s a good game but for me it’s not a good Gears of War game.
At least from my experience shotgun fights end with you doing 99%,98% or one shot kill/down. Whole formula is simplified and shotgun battles are short due to slower movement, powerful weapons, auto aim and gimped visibility. Wallbouncing is still in game but your chance of survival is IMO more dependent on luck and your opponent inability to aim then on your ability to bounce good.
It’s a first Gears game (outside of Judgement) that I don’t have much fun or satisfaction playing no matter how well I do in a match. Even with it’s technical issuse Gear of War 2 was more fun for me because kills were satisfying.
Gears 5 for me feels cold, lifeless, stiff and clunky. There is no more weight to it, atmosphere and adrenaline rush.
Of course it’s almost all subjective and maybe I am just getting old. I don’t feel this game though.

Even if they do miss, good old bullet magnetism is there to save the day.

Same. This isn’t gears of War anymore. They tried to make it approachable to newcomers and it just ruined the formula.

Do agree on that. But then again, you could see it coming. All of the other AAA titles with this system have similarly priced items. Apex, Fortnite, BO4. Its not a huge surprise that this outrage has happened.

Also, I’m just curious, how much time did you put into Gears 4 VS? Getting all the earn able customisation in Gears 4 is quite a big achievement, especially without money spent on it.

I played on/off. I played a lot when I played, but then would take 6-9 months off and be playing Overwatch solely. I didn’t get every single thing, but the majority of stuff, and later when they added most the rest to the craftables, I got most of that.

It was much easier for people that played Horde, they’d stack like 100k Credits in no time from speed runs.

I agree with you. Gears 4 is way smoother and faster. Gears 5 feels off. Like we took 10 steps backwards.

The graphics were better on GoW 1 in my opinion, they’ve tried to cheat and use cartoon low polygon style graphics similar to Fortnite in 5.

Gears 1 didn’t have all the aim-assist options either, and actually took skill to wall bounce and strafe without omnidirectional assistance, extremely far cover slide, and the ability to turn evade off.

You tell people not to complain, but spend the latter part of your thread post doing exactly that, quite hypocritical.

Stop saying Judgement is the worst gears… Judgement wasn’t a bad game. Yes, it had flaws but it wasn’t a terrible Gears by any means. I get so tired of people using Judgement as their kicking post. Judgement was an enjoyable game. Let go of it.

I agree honestly, I personally had more fun playing Judgement’s multiplayer than Gears 4 & 5, Those 2 multiplayers are a MASSIVE step down for the series after Gears 3 which is the best and most fun one.

Agreed.
Although I believe red cog vs blue cog has been the stupidest decision made for a GoW game, I still had more fun than in #4 & Gears5.

I agree as well. Besides a decent campaign and alright mp they came out with survival/overrun which is better than horde.

Overrun was better than anything Gears 5 has to offer so overall I enjoyed Judgment more.

But come on, standard versus was much worse. Red vs Blue, no DBNO, spawning with sticky frags, asymmetrical 4 maps, even worse melee two-piecing, blindfire reticule… And it launched with a stim granade. And no King of the Hill.

Sure it was a spinoff but still, a horrible GEARS game.

Judgement was the worst gears. Rented that game when it came out and sent it back the next day. It sucked. If it makes you feel any better gears 5 has taken the crown from judgment. For me at least.

Judgement wasn’t a bad game is my argument and I get tired of it being a kicking post for people. It was a good game and a decent entry in the series. I’m not saying it was amazing, I’m just saying it doesn’t deserve the hate. It was fun.

I think the numbers speak for themselves. Barely a year after its release there was probably x10 the player population on Gears of War 3 than on Judgment. Every decision Epic made was completely panned by the player base, such as RvB, no downs, jumping off roofs and pretty much everything that was pulled straight from a COD game. The only thing that kept me coming back for the month I owned that game was Overrun and eventually the Aftermath DLC.

That game was a joke compared to the other Gears games, an absolute mess that was also the lowest selling Gears game of all time.

This wasn’t even my main point at all, so I don’t understand the nitpick of my post, but whatever.

The fact that I’m just tired of seeing Judgment be a kicking post. It’s not just you, it’s a lot of people and I just didn’t see the huge issues with Judgment and calling it trash. Yeah, it has some flaws, but it was a fun game and a decent entry. I enjoyed overrun and survival, the MP wasn’t too terrible. Yeah, it had some bugs but it was a fun experience. I also liked the new additions to the campaign and declassified missions. It was interesting, it was neat, and I just don’t understand all the flak.
Also, Epic didn’t do a lot of the decision making when it came to Judgment. It was handed to People Can Fly and yeah, the pressing Y for weapon changes took a bit to get used to but it wasn’t horrible by any means. That’s just the point I wanted to get across. Stop kicking the game, it’s had enough.

^^ This aswell

Gears 5 may be an absolute mess with the lack of content and micro transactions being the main reasons why, but objectively it’s a much better Gears game that Judgment. This may have to do with the fact that GowJ was more Cod and Halo than a Gears game.

*‘Subjectively’.

Its more than that. People are complaining about several things.(Gears 5)

Wonky hitboxes
Slow movement
Op lancer which is causing people to camp
Bullet magnetism
Flashbangs being used too often which causing eyestrain to certain people
Class restrictions in horde
Broken campaign

Funny how you didn’t mention these problems.
