Even for the characters we have.
Hardly anything beyond a base skin or a regular skin.
Nothing screams out premium or must have.

The Chrome Steel are “supposed” to be the premium skins. But with them lacking any chrome or steel they’re just blah.

Exactly.
They just a dull grey / maybe silver-ish with hardly any LEDs or something that screams premium.
The Scion and Hunter to me just blend in like normal characters and Fahz and Kait don’t stand out any better.
Same for the weapon skins.

It seems like they have no intentions to redo Black Steel because it was a Gears 4 eSports supporter program whereas it’s Chrome in 5. Whether there will be other skins, that’s not known. But it seems BS skins won’t return, judging by responses to questions about them from the last developer stream.
I can understand that but the reference is more to quality and quantity.
Chrome Steel so far is very, very bland and boring.
White Steel would have been the obvious choice considering the heavy attention to Winter.
Well, maybe so. But the Winter theme is so far only present in Act 2 of the Campaign and one map outside of it, so the focus on it doesn’t seem as large, even if it is there during the arguably most important part of the story as far as Kait is concerned. And Winter Armor skins seem very similar to White Steel at least as far as the armor is concerned.
Not denying they could improve Chrome Steel though. For the price they are being sold, they aren’t all that memorable.
The winter theme is heavily focused on promos, with the logo as well as the console too.
White Steel would be different from the Winter Armour, more steel like, more LEDs, more premium with matching weapon sets.

Just anything other than Bland “Chrome” Steel.
I mean with the blah of the chrome steel and the lack of detail in the last few BS packs in 4 I doubt white steel would have been any better

To me the only thing I would have bought so far is Winter Marcus. The store items have been trash and the better skins have been in the ToD.
The pricing is a joke. There should be no level of rarity because of direct purchase. Its only there so TC can charge more for skins people actually want.
Can you elaborate on what a “highest watermark” is please?
Is that going to be the highest ranking you achieved during season 1? Or the rank you’re currently in when season 1 is over?

highest water mark is how it worked in Gears 4.
if you got masters between launch and Dec10th then you get that skin
This is confusing right now because of all the ranked issues the game has gone through.
Normally how it works: every week will reward the weapon skin displayed, while end of Season will look at the High Watermark.
the only benefit of doing the weekly version is that you get it early.

Can you please make it so that if you don’t find a ranked match within 5 minutes, it starts searching for a match on the next closest server?
I’ve been sitting here in three 10 minute queues waiting for a game of execution in the EU without finding a game.
If I fire up my VPN and set it to US East, I find a game within minutes. The problem is that the VPN adds 22ms extra ping. So my usual ping to US East is 70>80ms which is playable, but with the VPN it’s 99>103ms which isn’t playable in my experience.
If this has to be a toggle we enable or whatever, that’s fine. Just please tweak the system so I can actually play games when my US friends aren’t playing.

Given my earlier screenshot of sitting in a queue for 2.5 hours I am wholeheartedly supportive of this type of change.
At least you can find a match I guess… I don’t have access to a VPN so have to wait until a proper fix is instilled for Australia…
Trust me, it’s better not to play than having to suffer playing via a VPN. Game is awful under a VPN.
Given the choice, I wouldn’t waste my time playing
Well at this stage I’m having to grovel into matches just to get my weekly win for the Grind Season achievement.
Haven’t found a group this week and likely won’t so that’s going to be three months of work down the toilet because of where I live
