Spending more time here

Hi Ryan @N0DEZER0

A plain question… what’s the probability that The Coalition leave behind the hero shooter system, lock of the characters and the locked access to weapons for specific classes ( between 0% and 100% ) ?? , because that would definitely allow me to calculate how much time ( if any) I’m going to play Gears 5 , since I don’t like limiting games like this , specially when the nature of it is cover-based shooter, not a Fortnite, Apex Legends Look a like which pretty much The Coalition has turned it into.

I find it sad that such a game with this potential lowered it down to behave as something its not… a game gatered towards mickey mouse kids or nickelodeon of some sort, I really think The Coalition would have made more money from us , than the kids this game was targeted as, tha t right are playing other games , since they wont stick so long… ( most of them have leaved) .

This is going to be a hard lesson for the company as a whole, to change something that works, into something that the playerbase, the community here and myself doesnt want and didn’t like.

Regads.

Daniel

I hate to ask @N0DEZER0 to do extra work. I really do. But could you please quote a snippet of the questions when responding? I get lost trying to follow.

You’ve mentioned working on more hero’s for horde. I’m curious since the voice recordings almost certainly are completed at this point. Is it about working out the skill cards, making sure no one is too OP, or something else that really makes it time consuming?

If you’re on the mobile site, tapping the person’s profile pic that he’s responding to will open up that thread right above his response. At least it does for me. Not sure if there’s something similar on PC or not.

Ah. Thanks. That does help. Makes you have to scroll back down though :(.

Thank you so much for doing this!

I’ve noticed that not many people are voting for the next map. I believe it’s due to the low time and people starting at their “rewards” and stats instead.

Can TC have the “vote for next map” screen pop up first, over the rewards. Then people can either cancel their vote or vote to see their rewards??

Thank you!

Sorry, just on the classic-alt controller setting as its redundent. Forgot to add that last time when I replied.

Quick question, you know the stats leaderboards are hella bugged right?
The top guy can’t be scoring 65,000 points per minute or get tens of thousands of kills per minute, it’s just not possible.
I’ve also been hoping those bugged stats haven’t been feeding back into the ranking system.

I read the what’s up, and unless I’m missing something… you can still instantly melee after shooting?

I’m really disappointed that one of the main points of feedback was ignored. The ability to instantly melee was just as bemoaned as the lunge.

Two piecing is going to remain out of control until this is remedied.

You could never instantly melee after a shot in the older games, or gears 4.

When I say instantly, I mean instantly. There’s no delay before you can melee after a shot at all.

Hey Ryan,

Got a quick question about stopping power, and if there are any plans to remove or reduce it at the moment. I primarily play KOTH, and I find myself going against some nearly unbreakable setup s on the hills, sometimes my own team is the one posting up.

I feel like the team fire is strong enough to hold a position without SP, and removing it gives more opportunities to reward the aggressor.

Combine that with fairly slow respawns on power weapons, and one team might be completely out of luck.

Thanks for staying involved with the community, keep it up!

I read that and I was like what? Melee was in 2? Which people hated and then they nerfed it to being pointless. Melee has never been a vital function of this game after 2 and the two piece.

It’s like the dude never played gears before

Hi Ryan, another horde skill card related question if you don’t mind:

Get Up (Cog Gear) - the level 1 card gives 30% stim per teammate revived via Team Revive, level 2 gives 40% stim and level 3 gives 50% stim. However, as level 4 only gives 52% (an increase of 2% rather than 10%) could you confirm if this is an error?

Has it been discussed internally whether or not to implement JIP matchmaking? Maybe one that could be opted in/out from as some people will probably dislike it?

With there being 8(?) different difficulties for Horde, does that mean the matchmaking is effectively split by 8? Or will the matchmaker try to find a lobby in one of the adjacent difficulties if a lobby isn’t found?

Hi Ryan,

The game has improved since you toned down aim assist/adhesion and I look forward to future improvements. My other main gripes are with melee, strafing and the shooting delays which you have already addressed.

Once the gameplay has been worked on will you be adding anymore multiplayer stats to the War Journal or the Gears 5 website as they are really lacking detail compared to the previous games. e.g. Total points, total kills, total eliminations, MVPs, ribbons earnt etc. I don’t need leaderboards, just the cold hard figures.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my entire list Ryan. I know talking about monetization can probably be a fraught, ulcer-inducing subject for the people who just make the games, since a lot of this stuff is probably mandated by interests above you, yet the rank-and-file bear the brunt of the frustration with it.

I’m encouraged by your comment about having more soon on the prices, as like I said - there’s currently a real disconnect in terms of value, even relative to other Microsoft first-party games.

My fear with the current monetization, is just that it’s hugely responsible for some of the poisoning of the well with the reaction to Gears 5’s multiplayer. There’s a fine line between a monetization system feeling like a truly optional attraction, and feeling like the game is aggressively trying to get at your wallet constantly. Especially in a game some people bought for $60+.

Thanks for your time. It really is great that you’re taking the time to respond to all of this stuff in detail, and not giving boilerplate answers when you can.

Sorry Ryan, but I’ve got take take issue with a couple of these replies. (and extra apologies if the 1st one comes arcoss as a bit blunt).

A ‘richer melee experience’ and ‘combo opportunities’
Who’s been asking for a richer melee experience in a shooting game?

Personally I play shooting games to, well, shoot stuff. There are plenty of games out there for players who want to bash stuff, I, and I would assume a lot of gears players, just want to outshoot our opponents,
This talk of combos is in itself also worrying. I’m sure the whole team realise that any version of the 2-piece has been incredibly contentious and the g2 one with lock on was outright hated by the community. It’s a direction I feel gears has tried before (g2) and not something I would have called popular or fun, In pvp at least.
Lore wise it seems a bit of an odd duck too. Wasn’t the lancer chainsaw invented as knives break on locust skin, or are the swarm different in that regard? I assume I’ve just missed some lore on it some where.

The gorgon.
Whaaaa??? The gorgon was not satisfying to use? Blasphemy! :grinning:
G2 gorgon was a beast, constantly underestimated by opponents and when you jiggled the bloom to hit all the shots, super satisfying. I was very disapointed with the lacklustre G3 one, but the original was a great gun.

I’ve failed to keep this short, so I’ll ask proper questions in another post.

I will pass this on to the team.

Thanks for the feedback. Tbh, we expected to have to rebalance the characters. We are currently building the new ones, but I now think we need a parallel balance effort.

I’m totally with you on the scorcher. The gorgon we will reconsider. I wonder if making the breechshot into a projectile could be a way to give it space.

We are shortening the distance a bit, making it narrower and raising the risk when using it.

I see your point. I will pass this along to the ui team
