My biggest issue with Gears 5 since the Tech Test has been the delayed wall-cancel, as well as stiffer gameplay overall. Although Bouncing, in general, seems easier in comparison to 4, it seems to be obsolete at this point, considering how delayed it is.
Are there any hopes of 4’s movement being implemented in 5?

Yes Ryan if you could be able to implement that like Classic Horde in which there are no classes and we could be able to take any weapons we like from the fabricator that would be a BLAST !! , even more if you make it a permanente addition I could assure you a lot of players would come to Gears 5 and stay there, even I would leave alone Gears 4 and stay more and play more Gears 5 , you can count me in ! = )
Little things like this Ryan , like stripping out the limitations and allowing the players to do whatever they want to do on Horde its the true nature and force of Gears of War, and doing that would mean the world for the game . I would definitely support it more and even buy more stuff from the store , since the developer company its caring more for the gaming community that do like and spend a lot of time on the game and its providing the game modes that do give the feeling of Gears of War.
As a side note the graphics from the game look awesome and I do like it very much, congrats on that part of the game… however if you could be able to add that classic horde with no limitations on weapons or classes , that will make me your permanent customer.
Thanks Ryan and I do agree that this communication between the people that create the game as well as the gaming community that push the game to its limits could be beneficial to both parties.

Is there a plan to expand the map editor with more options and features? New map chunks, mirroring section option, copy/paste ability, door timing options, difficulty mutator options, additional enemy options, etc?

Also jumping on another topic of “team” executions from someone else’s post. This would be amazing, maybe make it to where the entire team doesn’t have to be there for example someone is being punched out I walk up and hold a face button (X,Y,A,B) to perform an arm or leg rip, when others arrive they get what options are left. Maybe just make it end of round executions.
Gears 5 tuning is very close to competitive. Most of the delays were in gears 4 as well. Is there a specific delay that you are talking about?

Hi Ryan - the below is offered 100% as someone who just wants you guys to get things right.
Let me preface this by saying that I understand game development costs money, and Microsoft aren’t going to just decide to burn through the game’s profit margin to keep hundreds of people at work making free stuff post-release. I get all of that.

The Iron cost to re-roll daily objectives is the definition of nickel-and-diming players, and also pokes more than a few holes in the wall between “earned” cosmetics, and “purchased” ones, because you can fast track your way through the Tour of Duty, playing only the game modes you want, as long as you’re willing to pony up the money to keep re-rolling. This cost to re-roll should either be removed and replaced with a daily limit of free re-rolls, or eliminated altogether.

XP Boosts. I’m sure these are going nowhere, but they inherently poison the progression of any game they exist in, because they create an incentive to make leveling just “grindy” enough to nudge people to spend money.

New characters each require their own individual grind of between 6-10 hours, including hours playing game modes you might not enjoy… or you can have them right away for the price of $5 each. At minimum, this grind should be concurrent for all unlocks, not this one-at-a-time “active totem” stuff.

Store costs are still out of whack, including after knocking 20% off most things. It’s dubious value when you can buy, say, an entire Forza Horizon 4 expansion for $15, but a “Winter Marcus” skin costs $10 - and that’s AFTER the price cut.

Separating skin sets between earned rewards, and the store, but making sure the ones you sell on the store are for the weapons people actually use (ie. gnasher, lancer, etc.), feels cynical. Especially when it’s for seasonal events, where the rewards should, frankly, just be free.

The same goes for selling skin packs, but then separating out the Lancer and Gnasher versions of those skins separately for more money.
Lastly, I’d be interested to hear a video or podcast, where you guys talked about post-release monetization, both generally and Gears 5 specifically - your thinking on how everything is implemented, and what you think of the feedback received.

Quick 2 questions regarding characters for horde and escape

what will be happening with the cards after they hit level 5 in regards to extras? Will we be getting a level 6 card?

is there a plan to increase character levels to give more rewards for the character? (Example character skin for that character)
I was thinking it would be amazing to add a character skin to the character at LV 20 that directly relate to something in the characters past like Keegan in Onyx armor and Marcus in a special suit from Anya’s funeral. It promotes other gears content outside of the games while at the same time showing players hard work with the character in VS. I really hope the gears Team considers this. I would really love to earn a Keegan Onyx armor skin as he’s the reason I love escape so much and his reason for becoming a hive buster is very interesting. (NO SPOILERS

What is your take on the delays in regards to roadie strafe and than you wait a good sec to shoot? Allowing that person who was potentially outplayed to still shoot before you? The movement itself for the game is smooth, but so many delays make it feel clunky at times.

So this is more of a current series question then a specifically 5 question. Why is the boomshield removed from the meta? I remember a big development point with gears 2 was they wanted to emphasize portalable cover and was curious why it was removed. I could ask the same for other legacy weapons (minus digger and ink) but I feel the boomshield adds a lot to the meta
Do you guys have plans for the hammerburst? Its nonexistent in pvp…even when you popped it in vasgar was it not really used at all.
I feel honestly like you guys killed off the gun for pvp. Which is a shame .
