We want to expose matchmade horde sessions on the lobby browser if someone quits.
Gears is a close range, intimate game. In pve I’m glad we updated the melee. Pvp is still not where it needs to be.
I know tech debt sucks, but have you guys considered cutting your loses and just starting over?
I feel like the fundamental core of Gears 5 is deeply flawed ( from a game play point of view , techincal as well to some degree) and band aid attempts will ultimately make it worse.
My opinion of course.

We’ve heard this quite a bit. We don’t have a good solution to help with this yet. We don’t want to sacrifice the reliability. We think we may be able to get matchmaking to help.
Just to pick your brain, pretend you just used the melee to down someone. How many melee hits do you think it should take to down someone?
Wrap shots don’t bend the bullets, but sure. If that’s what you were talking about I understand what you mean.
The gap between where we are and where we need to be is much, much smaller than if we started again. It’s unfortunately just a painful process for a time. Starting again would be many years.

Did you see the first video in this angle he should never hit him and he was in cover, the enemy was not even visible but he meets him with one shot down although a wall is in front of it
and he also shot at in first why did not he go down he had no cover.
Disclaimer: I haven’t played Gears 5 at all so I can’t personally verify how structurally sound it is, only that it seems many here have their doubts.
Do you believe it would have been better for the sake of the game if the team had more time to work on it? I hope this doesn’t sound too presumptuous, but is delaying a game [after being made official] an option or is something like that outside your duties?
Many years. Square enix showed it can be done and with FF XIV ARR though .
I hope you guys have had a few retrospective sessions and have learned something from all of this.

Wonderful post and points. I actually thought it was weaker last night but then Node confirmed that it hadn’t been “nerfed” at that point, so what do I know
but with that I still think your post is spot on and totally agree.
Sorry to hijack but I would think it would need to be a fair number of strikes.
Is there any chance of changing behavior of elite troopers in horde and escape? I mean thie invulnerability to melee swings and almost 360 degree melee swing. If i do a melee combo on them, they behave as i was standing next to them doing nothing. It would look much more natural when they would evade or jump backwards after the first hit and shoot you than execute their unbreakable melee hit. And 360 degree melee range is overpowered, couple times i have met that one single elite melee hit can stop master run. I know it can be evaded but it still is awkward when you hit them in the back and get downed after its melee.
They do…watched my sniper bullet curve and take the players head off. It was amusing. It was the one time I saw it. But it has happened.
You may not want to hear this but your gonna have to go the way of g3 and making it an emergency action, which is what they did after it was abused in g2.
This is just one of those places where I saw what Tc did with their changes to the controller scheme and tossed my hands in the air. People didnt need or want to change. We play gears because its comforting. It’s also raging enducing as well but I think you get my point. It’s like a old leather chair that fits just right. Then the wife sold it and bought a new vinyl chair we never wanted or asked for.
I know it’s not going away now, but maybe for next time? Understand you just had to import the end of 4 over. Slap a few new weapons ( GL is good) some new maps and profit.
It has to do with connection more than anything. Ping levels are gonna affect how a shotgun shoots in this situation . A lower ping than yours will come out faster. A higher ping [ think 70 plus] will look like it came out faster but it didnt. The game is catching up to your connection. It just looks like he got the shot off first.
So the reality is you need to have a few things happen here from Tc. They need to balance out ping levels best they can with the understanding it’s never going to be perfect.
They have to fix phantom shots as well which causes some of these issues. I pull the trigger and feel it make the action I expect something to come out.
Also on my screen is fire off a shell, clearly hit the dude, watch the replay and his omen or the % indicator never shows I touched him or her.
We may need to see a tweak to the idea both players will kill each other in this situation.
I know there is something coming with fahz, but in response to your comment on kaits ultimate card being a combo (which was very clear to me btw) it also only opens up that possibility with jd…currently. This is also the case with fahz’s ultimate. (A teammate wielding a cryogun) So I have a suggesstion(s) to alleviate these kinds of scenarios. Tell me which ones you like…and of course I understand that doesn’t mean it will be implemented.

Either change the conditional requirement to any afflicted enemy. Afflicted being under any negative status effect such as: embar active stun, stun from flash grenades, freezing, burning, or under shock from shock grenades/jack. This opens up those cards to combo with any teammate if they have the correct ordinance and might be the easiest way to go.

Introduce 2 new weapons/grenades that cause those afflictions. Bleed and Freeze to be exact. The cryocannon is not enough and very few characters can apply bleed.

Introduce a fortification that can cause freezing status and modify spike walls and razor wire to apply bleed damage while an enemy moves through them. On that note, can we get a fortification that can be applied to cover that gives stim periodically to those hugging it? That would be nice for everyone, but marcus would like it especially.

Melee attacks are knife based, so you could change those to bleed. This also allows kait to empower herself, but i understand emille/lahni has a card for this already so that could conflict there…unless it is restated as extra bleed damage?
That’s all I got for now, but hopefully that means something. Basically, if we could inflict status more and then combo off of it more, it would promote those cards and open up more gameplay possibilities.
- I guess you could always get rid of them and change them to something else lol. That also might be easier.
