I’m happy someone in the studio is trying to connect to us and it is greatly appreciated.

I really enjoy Escape and beat master on each hive and I’m currently working on horde master. I’ve beat the game on insane. I can’t go for diamond due to the current rank issues but I just wanted to show that I have played this game as a whole a lot.

My concern is in the game store having cosmetics that’s are appealing and the tour and the events don’t. Blood sprays are unnoticeable and banners only apply to mvp in versus, so anyone who only plays horde or escape will never use these. All my bloodsprays are default and banners I only put the lv 18 ones for leveling up my character but it doesn’t apply to what I leveled them up in. The earnable pumpkin skins and the Frankenstein Imago was cool, why not more stuff like that instead of blood sprays and banners?

In relations to leveling characters will there be a level 20 skin or can that be a thing so people from any mode will see you mean business with that character? I would love Onyx armor Keegan or Saphire Marcus as Level 20 characters.

Also different marks are awesome as I know who is seeing who so I get a lot of intel with it so the more there is the better as there will be less duplicates in game.

It’s a bit of both really. Having classes tied to characters means I see the same lobbies over and over. There’s always a spam JD and a spam Kait. JD with his launcher bleed and Kait with her shotguns. Then everyone wants Del over Kat, always needs to be a Jack and there’s just a lack of variety. It’s a slog to get through and I find myself zoning out.

I like to play who I want how I like when I want. This game mode is too restrictive for that.

Then Marcus is sadly lacking. He’s supposed to be a tank and he goes down way too easy. I’ve noticed his band of brothers card only works when it wants too and he should be able to tank more damage. I’m not saying invincible, but if damage feeds his ult he should be able to take it. I love Marcus and wish him to be viable at higher levels, he’s just not.

Fahz has a similar problem of viability, but you guys are addressing that.

The special characters really can’t compete either with their lesser kits and that doesn’t help the variety issue. Kat is an ok engineer but can’t compete with Del because of lack of discounts. Sarah just doesn’t even really help. Emilie could be viable with his bleed if his drop shell offered a resistance buff since he’s cqc with his knife bleed.

The non duplicate doesn’t help either. That’s why the hero system is just so flawed and makes horde less fun and more boring than usual. It shouldn’t feel like a chore to play.

Appreciate the transparency and presence on the forums. I’d like to see one thread actually split into several threads. MP (tuning, movement, rank issues, etc). Horde (class system, ability cards, etc). One for Escape, and maybe one for miscellaneous. Not sure how much time you would actually have to address each thread. Not personally a fan of conglomerate threads as ideas get lost and over days gets so long no one reads it all and ends up asking questions that have already been answered.

Maybe pick one issue per day, lock the thread and revisit as needed with an update.

When can we expect to see the Cole Train? That’s literally the only character I want for horde.

I can’t fathom why the decision was made to launch without him, other than the obvious one. The same reason we don’t have Baird, Anya, Dom, Paduk, Oskar, Carmine, or any other legacy characters outside of a singular Marcus skin…

If you want horde to last in its current state, we need more options sooner rather than later. No offense, even though I grinded him out, I couldn’t care less about a “COG Gear” when he/she comes instead of a character we actually know and are invested in. Are there plans to release variants of existing characters who have a different class than their default designation?

The campaign was amazing. Escape is only getting better and more amazing with random procedurally generated enemies each time. It’s really ambitious. I feel like the one room afterthought map Exhibit was too small for 10 players. On the positive side the lasers are really cool and work in horde. Can we just talk about the lasers? You can go into low cover to avoid them, or when your crawling they will go over you. This works well and has lots of potential. Same with Icebound. I was someone that suggested rifle headshots in multiplayer like the hammerburst and it seems like it’s coming closer to their original vision and mine.

Horde is closer to gears 2 horde with the sires. Playing as jack is great, and upgrading yourself is nice.

The countering is really cool and feels fluid. I like that aspect and works well.

Escape has a lot of potential. Love the random enemies. Procedurally generated?
That idea of making it feel like a movie escape is really cool. Could we make our own bosses? Or lock enemies in a room and have them burn like forge?

I was playing with a team of players and we had a blast on arcade, arms, and warzone.
Now why can’t we have a team of players in arcade? Why does it match me with level 1’s against 90’s?
The mulcher is too powerful on arcade, it feels too strong up close and at range when you only have a rifle.

The series always had lots of potential and if your going to continue this route, are you going to add a big map like icebound with 50 or 100 players with only one life? Are you going to try to compete or kill fortnite? You want to bring Gears to a wider audience? Allow it to get it’s glory and fame it could have had and deserves?
You could also allow players to make blocks of cover to avoid camping, something to think about.

Thanks for making a thread, I have a question regarding movement and wall bouncing. If already answered then just disregard.

Is the movement /wall bouncing slower than recent titles? Ive always preferred the quicker movement and ability to shoot during a slide. I understand the design decision to slow it down for newer players but being able to out maneuver 1 or more enemies was always a rush and gave a sense of accomplishment as it should. When I was a new gears player and seen an enemy out maneuver me I thought " I’ve got to learn to do that!" .

In short is the movement too deeply coded to change things like being able to shoot out of roadie right away or shooting while sliding at any time I choose? Could the slide speed be adjusted if the community was in favor? These are some of the things I’m interested in beyond the initial fix’s.

Unfortunately that’s not really my area. Try Octus or Dana.

The gnasher’s gib distance is tricky. A smidgeon on one side you are 99%. A smidgeon on the other gibbed. Your target may have been a bit closer than you can see due to latency.

Agreed. We see more of that than in 4. We are investigating it.

If that happens again log the exact date and time and gamer tags and we can look at the server logs.

I think that your high level analysis is good. I’m not quite as convinced about neutral strong points, but I take your point.

The wide vs long is interesting. What about more square maps like clock tower, how do you think about them?

Aim assist is a broad category of features that include smaller mechanics like friction, magnetism, adhesion, snap-to and more bespoke logic.

Friction is where your reticle slows down as you move over targets
Magnetism is where the bullet trajectories are modified favourably for near misses.
Adhesion will give your reticle a little bump in the direction of a player if you had the reticle over them when they started moving and you are moving.
Snap-to is where during the LT transition, the game moves your reticle onto a nearby target (we don’t do this)

On a personal note, as an Aussie we can’t find ranked games (a few of us post in here about how frustrating that is).

I understand low population may make things harder, but as previously mentioned Co-op versus AI still throws us into any available game, rather than putting us in a game with acceptable ping.

I would love to get that fixed, but I understand it wouldn’t be the highest priority.

It would be awesome to get the locust back in. Redoing all the AI and the artwork is a lot of work. It could happen, it would just mean a trade-off against new things. But I would love to use them.
