So the pros want a revert

the plan for Gears 5 didn’t work , on the contrary it created a f***ng mess of a game… changing it over to cater the pro’s didnt work and neither changing it over to cater the casuals as well didn’t work.

TC placed a bet. … im afraid their shot their feet on the process

Well, Ryan said that it was the first iteration of the movement. And that they are going to work on other parts of it as well.
They are working on how the player will be able to use rolling as gameplay. Not just punishment for the players.

They are finally trying to utilize the movement in gears and trying to make more playstyles. Which should be encouraged rather than attacked.

They add changes one by one to be able to identify the issues that can occur when applied. Rather than adding several changes at once. Only to lose track on what changes becomes bad or needs tuning.

I do recall him saying something about only having seconds to catch the attention of a potential new player, and that they purposely left the melee OP for the game’s launch to showcase it but I dont recall this exscuse being used for anything else.

I wont deny that plenty of the core elements of the game has been changed with the sole purpose of attracting casuals and reducing movement speed may have been one of those, but I honestly believe that the speed was reduced due to technical limitations.

Just look at the state of the game now, it’s not just the gnasher, plenty of weapons now outright “miss” your opponent (bullets/pellets go through them), I dont think it was a coincidence this started happening with the movement update.

Unless their code base is tightly coupled spaghetti (I doubt it, but you never know) theres no logical reason why changing some values to character movement speed would break a lot of weapons in the game UNLESS the core networking component completely breaks because of it.

Its interesting today i played like 6 matches of TDM and the game was buttery smooth no hit detection issues. The other night i played the same of KOTH and it was the complete opposite.

Seems to be 100% determined by the quality of connections in the lobby.

Correlation isnt causation, but maaaan it sure seems like the game doesnt know what to do when busted internet is present

Ill tell you what though, when its smooth the game plays really good. I really wish they could get it straightened out. Its just not enjoyable to struggle trying to maintain rank against opponents you cant hit lol.

That’s what I had last night, I just left in disgust, with zero interest in playing again, lol…

I watched it. And it kinda was dumb for Dutch to even. Other if he quit the game. Same for his developer stream video.

Either walk away or shut up.

Any attention even negative attention is good right now for Gears imo. Things just might get done. Just hopefully everything is taken into perspective. It’s just movement was so slow in the beginning that you couldn’t get away from anything, lancer being op. Adhesion and everything else. Some say lancer is still op even though I don’t think so because of the faster movement I can get away. Let’s Say TC does revert. They probably gonna have to Nerf some weapons. Boltok is Beast right now imagine moving slower. So I’m glad he spoke up brought some attention with a different opinion.

that is EXACTLY what ticks me off so much about the whole thing.

Decided what you are going to do and freaking stick to it, TC!

that’s why gears 5 has no identity

I dont disagree with your statements here. The lancer is fine. The shotgun needs some tweaks.

It’s like you have to beat these people over the head with what works. You cant cater to casuals because they arent gonna stay. Least most of them. You want them to but you cant cater.

So now we have tc reverting it kinda back to the end of gears 4 which is what they should have done in the first place. Can you imagine all the power they would have and time to create if they just slapped a 5 on 4 with some tweaks and maps?

Ryan comes off more as a fan than rod. I dont trust rod at all. He just has that vibe about him.

You see that’s the whole baffling part. It’s like they didn’t even try to build off of 4. I understand why to catch a new audience, but dam lol

Yeah…its like when lord of the rings in the second movie decides let’s go to the moon.

Wait what? You know how you get people to comeback? Quality. You make a good story like let’s say god of war. Yes the game overall is good but the story kept you there.

I dont want my characters all plastic looking. I want gears 3 and 4 with more story. Sure try a few new things. The GL lancer is a great add on. The hammer is meh. The knife is stupid. The control scheme is stupid. The omen is stupid. The freeze and stem thing is neat.

Its just so dumb and everyone is trying to be polite with these guys. Sometimes you just need to drop a hammer and say yeah… we were wrong.

Lol you know they will never admit there wrong. Hell I’m glad there is alot of attention now. Hopefully something gets done. At least all this noise around gears has Kenny bounce putting in some forum minutes on the movement thread. We always talk smack that the pros are never in here at least he is willing to pop in here.

Great point! Very different gears games, but both were very fun.

I could care less about the pros. You don’t design a game around a few dozen people.

But you dont create a game around casuals either.

what casuals?

Where are these mythical casuals you speak of?

The majority of this playerbase is a niche community of veterans who have been with the series for multiple titles. That isn’t casuals.

I could not agree more.

This man gets it.

Gears don’t nees eSports, so many changes are made to the game just to please them.
They are invited to test the game before any of you it’s only fair that they “adapt or go”.
like they say in any game;
" if you don’t like it, don’t play it".
