So the pros want a revert

I can see consulting pro players for well tuned games but Gears 5 doesn’t even feel ready for launch yet. Consulting the fans is pointless as well in this case because everyone has a different story on what’s wrong. That’s because it’s clunky and broken. Instead of asking people how much salt to use to flavor a pile of feces, they need to refine the mechanics (going back to gears 4 mechanics would be a safe start) and then getting community feedback.

I’m still shocked at how bad this game plays and I think people who have been playing the MP for a few months have forgotten how rough it is.

At least TC is finally admitting this game is basically a beta. And we are basically testing their game.

I don’t ever want to go back to having 2 different weapon tunings.

I’m okay with going back to Gears 4 CORE Tuning and Movement when Gears 6 rolls around at launch with the updated mobility capabilities and tunings to the heavy and power weapons from Gears 5.

I despised the comp tuning in 4. The Gnasher felt like it either needed to be nuts-to-butts range or a car’s length to damage. Never has 2v2 Gnasher felt so jank to me and I’m glad Gears 5’s got it so I never have to return to that monstrosity.

I’m guessing no one really remembers the reason they reduced the movement speed in the first place, per node zero.

I’m not sure how this point is relevant to pros (as they play on lan) but it’s not coincidence that the gnasher is busted now that movement is changed.

The backend simply cannot keep up with it.

What was the post? (if you don’t mind)

Just wow, these guys are really wearing out the status if being a gears pro.

Tc have made a baby step in the right direction and they already can’t deal with it being more like actual gears. I’m not sure it’s gears they want to be pro’s at. Their happiness with g4’s wonky gnasher and continually asking fornerfs of its range and power didn’t exactly scream ‘gears player’ to me then.
Wanting to keep the slowed down, heavily delayed movement seriously suggests to me that the franchise is maybe not for them.

For once I am really glad tc are sticking to their guns on this. Their stubbornness is finally working in our favour.

It was in one of the weekly streams, one of the reasons they reduced movement speed was to reduce the number of times you were killed while it appeared your opponent was doing something where a kill was impossible.

They wanted to provide “fair” visual consistency.

Edit: They never mentioned sponging, but I suspect the "brokenness " of the gnasher currently is because the movement speed has changed, so that “fairness” is gone.

I could understand to a degree, but that falls flat for me when my deaths don’t visually represent what I see in my killcams. And that’s been a problem since launch, where I straight up don’t even see a muzzle flash before I die at times.
The same goes the opposite way when I clearly fire before shattering and not a pellet hits my opponent.

So, I’ve seen this thread and its interesting. I somewhat agree with what y’all are saying. There has always been a gap and i know how much of a pain it is. I suggest we bring back the system that Gears 4 had! Core modes that are a bit more serious than quickplay and Competitive for the folks who take the game a little more seriously than core. So there is a place for everyone. BOOM problem solved.

That just creates more playlist which we already have too many , tbh.

But that’s not the main issue here. The issue is the timing of these types of patches being at odds with having a stable meta game for the competitive scene.

Understandable but bettering the game for everyone’s enjoyment now rather than waiting for a lull period in the competitive scene just isn’t an option for Gears 5 right now.

Yes clunky movement and the revert they are asking for will add SLOW to that.

So far the update only improve it from launch we just can’t go back.

I feel ya but the honestly 5 was already the fastest Gears game yet, it didn’t need to be faster. Also the movement wouldn’t be such an issue if they fixed lag compensation and the hit boxes for the gnasher. the game as a whole right now doesn’t feel right and feels more clunky than it did in 4 due to inconsistencies .

No, no boom.and no problem will be solved. You’ll just be bringing back older issues we’ve had in 4.

Omg they want to make the game like they want…
Just what they did with Gears of War 4.

It’s only the up a gib range that needs to be sorted out. Proper cry babies though. Up a aside, the new movement is a good improvement… Even Stevie Wonder can see that. The “pros” just need to change their tampax.

Dont really play much verses…so not to fussed what they do or dont…but im of the opinion fk the pros…the peeps who need to have the game right…are the paying public who support the game by buying it and any cosmetics they chose to pay for…personally dont give esports the time of day…

At this point, the game needs a rerelease. They have about 10 months to undo poor design choices, fix everything and make a lot of new content, then relaunch it as Gears OF WAR 5 when the Se:X releases. We’re just testers now because whenever they fix anything, something else breaks.

I don’t understand why the pros complaining about Ryan and his team actually did the joystick and movement on screen coherent and responsive. To be a pro at a game is not about designing what to be best at.

They just want the game to be what their team is good at. Not the best for Gears. Don’t listen to pro players whining. There only here for the money.

They don’t care if there’s aim assist on for the rest of the people. They don’t give a damn about store prices. They don’t care about the matchmaking they don’t care about rankings they don’t care about ToD they don’t care about horde mode.

I can only think of few things that are more pathetic than being a ‘pro’ a Gears 5.

It’s Gears 5. A greed-driven series-killer from a useless undeserving dev.

Such ‘pros’ would be better off bragging about how quickly they can eat a plate of dog poo, it’s that pathetic being a pro at this abomination.
