Sniper osok event

Osok is fun, but it gets silly when it turns into a shotgun fight with snipers.

You’re someone who likes to sit in spawn and hide in a corner or corner snipe aren’t you, I’ll be sure to Teabag you when i headshot you :smiling_imp: (That came across a bit more aggressive than i was intending, it’s just jokes)

I like the up-close fights, popshotting, barrelstuffing and blindfiring. Hardaiming from afar is too boring for me.
Can’t break the habbit, played too many sniper matches on Canals back on Gears of War to become a coward now

I do a lot of flanking, and it works very well. But when you’re right next to someone, it gets silly sliding and evading till someone lands a lucky shot. After you’re 10 shots into a scrum, I just feel relieved that it’s over.

That’s fair enough, each to their own. I just don’t get any satisfaction killing someone from the other side of the map, again i played thousands of hours of Gears of War back in the day. The sniper in that game was ridiculously skillful, hardly ever missed a roll shot. It’s all about the up-close fights for me and considering how easy popshotting is in Gears 5 i find it a lot of fun getting in my opponents face and watching them panic and roll everywhere, supermans for days.

I think he means when two players are basically clipping into each other. Close enough to be touching eyeballs.

I like those too :smiling_imp:

I played all afternoon today and I had a lot of fun, I wasn’t enjoying so much the PvP since GOW4.

I enjoy it, but somehow the aim assist or whatever is much different for the event than Gears 4.

Seems much harder now to use the long shot as a gnasher.

It’s alright. I’ve been doing lots of sneaky flank attacks. Not getting a massive amount of kills, but I don’t die very much. Often I end the match with figures like 4 kills and 0 deaths. I count that as a plus if my k/d ratio is like that!

Honestly, OSOK has been my favourite gamemode to play on gears 5…

I’ve had my fair shares of long, mid & close range engagements. There’s alot of different people playing at the same time.

Sniper bounce fights are where it’s at with this mode, its hilarious and great fun.

Yup, I don’t camp in these events. I’m getting up in your face and trying to pull off a trick shot at all times, and I expect my opponent to do the same.

I guess that’s one thing that can be annoying.

I’m not one to sit around and wait for people to make a move in OSOK so naturally that tends to happen to me more often than not. I don’t mind it too much though since I’m well acquainted with close quarters sniper battles of Gears past.

It only really gets annoying when I get 4 or so players on me for over a minute while I’m trying to have a battle with one to a few at most.

Right, there’s the 1 or 2 matching my pace but then the extra few aiming me down making harder to place shots. I usually just default to popshoting or back Aing from cover in those cases.

That’s more of an issue with my team though, there’s just so many people afraid to move anywhere outside the few feet from spawn. I rarely get anyone to help me alleviate that pressure if at all.

There’s just no way a whole team should be fighting one dude for over a minute w/o anyone else stopping by, lol.

I honestly expected this thread to have more complaints about people sitting in spawn 'causing more stalemate situations than anything else (All Fathers Arena has been the notorious for this from my experience, maps really not good for more than 1 or 2 snipes).

After some thought, I think the amount of ammo really lends itself to aggressive play. Starting with 51, it’s really hard to run out. Blast away my friends.

If you only had 6 or 8 rounds, it would play much differently.

I definitely don’t like the home base campers. These leads to flanks being wide open.

I would like to see some more body damage at extreme close range. Or longer health regen. Something to take the sillyness and luck away from the fights. If I hit the you in the shoulder 5 times, I’d like for something to happen.

I’ve only seen one person DBNO. I didn’t even think it was possible in this mode. Not even sure how he went down.

I was bouncing against 5 at the end of a game. They had me full red at one point, but I never went down.

My whole team peppered this guy who was just on a yo yo. He got down but for only a half breath. Eventually he got popped and there was no satisfaction, just relief that the game was over.

Best I can tell, a body shot is 16%.

Love the event … I do however agree that body shots could be upped in damage.

I wish the medals for these events used a points system, e.g. 100 points to unlock, win = 10 pts, loss = 2 pts or something. When you as a solo player experience bad matchmaking for 5 games in a row (even stupid reshuffling of players in continuous session that it was easy to see would make even more unbalanced game) it would be nice to have some progress still.

I don’t mind up close sniper fights. It’s just annoying when players just wall bounce everywhere and blindfire until RNGesus decides to give them the headshot. My main issue with this version of OSOK is that it takes roughly 5-6 consecutive body shots to down someone. I understand why they made that decision, so it could be One Shot One Kill. The first half of every OSOK match is fun, but then when you get into the second half of the match people turn the sweat up to 11. Everybody starts wallbouncing everywhere in an attempt to make it more difficult to land a headshot on them. It just practically turns into blindfiring Longshots until you get enough lucky headshots on your wallbouncing opponents.

Here’s what I would do to change OSOK:

  1. Bring back two shot longshot downs (Keep melee out of OSOK obviously)

  2. Make it point based instead of TDM with Longshots

  3. Point cap would be 100

  4. Body shot kills/elims would give you one point, whereas headshot kills would give you 5 points.
giving you an incentive to score headshots
