Regardless that the game is 3 years old. Its F2P and has had the highest player base for a long time. Apex never did that. Red Dead never did that. We’ll see if Boarderlands can do it.
My point is it’s a nothing statement because we don’t have any stats.
Fortnite was the most played game on Xbox by what margin?
How many people were playing it in total?
How long did Gears 5 beat it and when did it happen?
Was it a spike in the first couple days?
Was there a drop off?
We don’t really have any information. It’s just marketing fluff. And again Gears 5 is playable for “free” to millions of gamepass subscribers. Long story short, we need to wait at least two months to get an idea of the longevity and success of Gears 5. Right now the “stock” is overvalued.

Regardless of what your asking, Gears 5 isnt “free”. People bought the game, people got the $1 promotion and people pay full price for gamepass. It beat out the most played game with mostly early access.
Yes it did, with the help of Game Pass / Ultimate, but for how long ? It’s already dropped to 7th. Looks like everyone on game pass jumped on, it shot up there, and it now looks like it’s dropping because many will have seen it for the broken mess it is. It’ll get worse too, their latest tweet stated their AIM is to fix x, y and z by the end of next WEEK. Too little too late imo.

Borderlands 3 has done it already, top of the most played on my store and Gears 5 is now 8th

That’ll be because they put it on Gamepass. This was the first Gears I wasn’t going to buy. I only played because it was on gamepass, which I already use. I enjoy Gears 5, but I haven’t played anywhere near where I though I would. I’m like level 40 or something. This isn’t a game i’ll persist with, like all the others since 1.

I keep saying. Times ticking for TC. It only gets worse.
They need to put out some fixes for damages on the gnasher and lancer and lack of characters, skins ect ect.

That’s just not true, at least not on Xbox.
Im afraid so. After all the criticism of this game, Im giving it the benefit of the doubt, but it appears there’s no one on lately. Match making is long and quitting is rampant. This is making it very unappealing to me. Sadly I switched over to Rainbow 6 which is no better in activity but at least its been maintained somewhat.
Oh, seems to be the case in Australia. Ouch…
It’s still above Battlefront 2 in US and UK though.

I’m the UK too, but 23rd after two months ? Also look what’s above it, games that are YEARS older. To be fair I always viewed Gears games as a product with a small but dedicated player base, but not as insignificant as the chart position indicates. TC have dismissed them with this title imo. It’s not in a good place right now.

seems like 3 years of developing was a wasted time
what Gears 5 have:
-a LOT of bugs, even more than the first game in 2006, how is this posiible??
-two long and boring acts in the campaign, skifff, skiff, skiff… f this. we need to FIGHT with swarm!
-BUGS with sound, bugs with not opeing gates and more
-dumb horde mode with a “new features” like bad idea of characters duplicate warning…
-3/10 mode known as “Hive” or “Escape” - everyone playing this crap only for Tour of Duty stars
-anoying "MICRO"transactions. Expensive and lacking “content” - it’s a ROBBERY!!!
This fantastic 3rd person shooter gave me a cancer a lot of times, from the 6th September…

So many bugs, so many problems, only 7 maps, dead horde and generally feeling of unfinished game.
