Ryan Cleven is leaving TC & Gears for good

Well, that’s suspicious.

Why is that suspicious?

Why?

He just said good luck?

Wooh, calm down. It’s suspicious because Cliff a couple of months ago said he wanted to “return”. Then, total silence.

Now Ryan is leaving, and Cliff has appeared again.
Maybe Microsoft is thinking to hire him.

We aren’t angry. For further twitter context he hit out at MS people brushing him off and using marketing speak for “we don’t want him back”. He he said a number of times over the past 6 months that they don’t want him back.

He only wanted to be a consultant, rather than a lead dev, so I don’t think this would change anything.

Yeah,

Ryan has left of his own accord, for his own reasons.

It’s not like he was forced to leave so that Cliff would get put in that position.

Anyway,

I’ve submitted my application for the position,

Although I don’t know much about programming/coding,

I don’t think that will be much of a disadvantage.

Yeah, I see. I know what he did and what he said in these years.

Now a question: do you want him back?
It’s totally impartial for me, I didn’t play the old Gears online.

No. He was burned out and stopped turning up to work at Epic. He then retired after Tim Sweeney gave him an Ultimatum. Then he created his own studio and burned it to the ground. Many of his employees learned out about the studio closure through the media.

He also recently tweeted that he never wanted the pickup system in versus they went with, he wanted a “purchase weapon” system like Counterstrike (or by extension Arcade mode in Gears 5).

Just to be clear I don’t think bad of the man, I grew up playing Jazz jackrabbit when other kids grew up playing Sonic and Mario. He helped to create or publish a ton of games I loved. I just don’t see him being a positive force for the future of Gears given his recent history, and fascination with pushing weird things, like the “ca-ching” noise that would play in Horde 2.0 whenever you killed an enemy worth “$500” or over.

Agreed.
Your pic is weird though.

Thanks for the feedback, I will put it in the circular filing cabinet.

If Cliff Came back even as just a consultant, the game would be better for it.

all the gears games with him involved=great.

all the gears games without=meh

So even him just showing up and Hive fiving people would help the game.

I don’t find his picture weird at all. If anything it’s super dreamy.:heart_eyes:

Now imagine how loud that “cha-ching” was when he left with his Oculus money.
My “Big Money” Onyx medal can’t even compare.

That’s the part that shocked you?

In no way can you trust a man that didn’t play Mario.
