Yeah if we’re talking about pvp…ENEMY variety, and more creativity in weapon design!
I wish him all the best but in my opinion the whole company should stop with this game.
The update is again a totall mess.
I for one would be very happy with those mentioned changes. New Maps 1 maybe from gow 2. Throw in some new weapons. Put some enemies from g3 into horde for more variety. Put in blitz or KOTH from gears 2 where you have to stay in the ring to acquire points.
I know you won’t read this, but thanks Ryan. I/we may not have agreed with your ideas and decisions, but thanks for your effort for the last 6 years.
Thanks for your transparency, especially at December time on the forums, on twitter as well. I don’t know many other developers who have been as transparent as you have been since the release of Gears 5.
I wish you all the best for the future.
Good ■■■■■■■ riddance.
Well there’s clearly difference of opinion between the company and the players. I’m saying I believe there’s a difference of opinion within the company. I think you’ve got people within the coalition (Ryan cleven) that want to revert gears to the close up gnasher battles it was (or at least a comfortable balance tilted towards shotguns like Gears 3 was) and another faction (Rod) that want/wanted to move “forward” to what this game was at release. There’s in-fighting, is my point.
Clevenshop became a mild hobby.
My two cents for all they are worth.
This will handicap Gears 5 for a while and definitely slow the release of 6.
When a ship starts sinking, you know what jumps first…not rats necessarily because I feel Ryan was a cool guy. Those that sense the sinking get off.
Probably a good thing long term. There are enough guys out there that are passionate about Gears to fill the void. TC has somehow managed to fill a few roles with people who seem not to care though, so I worry about that.
This will either be the turning point when things start to change for the better at TC, the time MS decides to hand the franchise over to another dev, or the real death to the series with one more game to go before it’s over probably less quality than 5.
Now there is a challenge.
Respect the guys passion, work and effort but a lot of it was wrong for the game, series and franchise.
TC really need to dig deep into what makes a good FUN game.
Then refine it and make it work.
Content then needs to back up the work.
Finally,
More involvement with the fans.
I see mostly the same people getting replied to on Twitter, but the community team need to post here too.
Even if once a week, or once every couple of weeks,
@TC_Octus makes a thread and allows 20 Questions before it’s locked and then a day or two later, they get answered as openly, honestly and detailed as possible.
Mods can filter out questions regarding future content or questions as such which TC wouldn’t obviously answer anyway.
So we maintain a quality that allows people to raise concerns, questions, suggestions and ideas for the game.
I’m sure @GhostofDelta2 @Ektope amongst the others would help facilitate that.
Just an idea.
Maybe would help whoever is next in charge to do something like that too.
But yeah,
Wish him the best,
And I just hope the next chapter is a better one.
Good luck Mr. Cleven. I’m not happy with Gears 5 , but it wouldnt be fair to place to blame squarely at his feet.
We dont know where and how much the higher ups tied his hands.
I’m thinking back to kojima and konami with metal gear 5.
I think it’s bad for gears to see him go. Although it was only relatively recently, he at least genuinely tried to interact with the community here and tried to discuss with fans to understand their frustrations/ideas.
As the only person at tc to have actually tried to do this he deserved some respect and his loss will mean the forum stays as the blacksheep of the g5 community.
On a perosnal level, he seemed like a genuine guy, answering his insanely long thread showed some proper passion for the game. So I hope everything sorts itself out for him and he gets back into the industry again in the future.
That’s a shame. For what it’s worth I genuinely liked him and saw he had good intentions. Like someone else mentioned before I’m sure there was at least some in house disagreements to where Gears should go and he was on the other side of it all. I hope he bounces back from this soon. The memes were pretty good too and i liked that he took them in stride.
I feel one or two more major departures, then Gears 6 will be given to another Dev. Whether it’s being worked on or not, TC will no longer be in charge of it.
A man can hope
This 100%. I have said this a few times. It’s literally the same people who Octus himself follows is who matters because they try and hype up the game. Why would others opinions/facts matter to him?
I doubt it. Most likely TC will finish out this trilogy. It would cause way more damage to the franchise to switch developers at this point.
TC has a good team and a good foundation. They are just very rough around the edges and dont make great decisions. But there is quality in their efforts. I think Gears 5 was a major wake up call for them and I doubt we would see many of these mistakes repeated in Gears 6.
I know people said the same about G4 to G5, but G5 was a massive overhaul compared to 4.
I like your positivity man but you said this about operation 2 then about operation 3 and now about gears 6
Yeah,
It’s sad to see a few individuals literally posting the same kinda stuff, getting replied to.
And as you said, they’re the same ones Octus & a few other TC employees follow.
It’s great you have those people for those other people that want to follow them and what not.
But their support is no where near big enough to justify ring fencing most of your replies to them.
A handful have a few thousand followers each & that doesn’t scream much to me tbh.
Just like the eSports Scene, it’s barebones.
TC need to visit all channels.
I mean, if they need help, I’m sure they could hire someone dedicated to addressing, compiling and dealing with Feedback from the major sources.
Or at least your own Forums!
As someone who really wants the campaign to grow without it being another rush job, the fact that this may very well be the reality sucks.
